I like what you are saying about the loss of resolution if you are not using the whole range. I believe that package also comes in .5 bar increments? So 3 and 3.5 should be out there somewhere.

No. There are assorted sensors available in that (or similar) package, but it's not as simple as a .5 bar increment. I bought a bunch a while back for my manifold pressure testing. IIRC, there's the 2.5 bar we all use, the 3 bar that's in the GM sensor (but it's a surface mount part), then I think the next step is a 5 bar (again, surface mount), and then a 7 bar.

There are a bunch of others too, but many of them are gauge sensors, not absolute.

The sensors aren't particularly expensive if you buy 'em from Mouser, so IMHO it makes sense just buy the one that matches your intended boost level and upgrade later if you need it.

3 bar gives you tranny-destroying levels of torque, so I don't really see a need to go higher than that.

That's the thing, I'm coastal. I think I live at like 50' above sea level. Nice dense cool tasty air up in here. I'm interested in realtime baro so when I drive away from the coast I won't have issues. It'll take me less than 15 minutes to get to 1,400' and I feel like that's a legitimate concern.

If I'm not mistaken, getting the GM 3 bar to work is probably as easy as mounting it somewhere, then getting it 12V SG and a signal wire back to the MS. Then, unplug the stock 2.5 vac line and use it for baro.

All for $13 bucks, lol. Wonder if the cheap ebay map sensors are as bad as the coils, I bet they aren't.

I also wonder if there would be any advantage to having the map sensor be literally inches from the intake manifold, sure having a 5ft vac line is not the best thing ever, right?
