Same sensor is available at vatozone for like 55 bucks.

Shouldn't it be more of a mic drop? :)

I bought my last sensor form 14Point7 and it was not only the Bosch sensor, but they'd added a very small PCB in line that converted to digital signals, and had wiring for wide band or . Now I just hopped over to the Innovate site and see that their digital O2 system is now patented and, 14point7 doesn't seem to offer their digital system anymore. Hmmm....

Extended Lower Ball Joint -- add negative camber

2 Attachment(s)
If you'll be at Miatas at MRLS, I'll have a sample or two of these Extended Lower Ball Joints to show off.

They're built by an ISO9001 rated company, and add about 2 degrees negative camber to whatever camber is possible with your car.

The nice thing about using the lower ball joints to add negative camber is that a) They take about 20-30 minutes to install, b) it adds spring and fender clearance and c) it's less expensive than a set of stock replacement LBJ's.

You're looking at the very first sample. Testing will commence shortly and then they'll be available for sale.

If there's enough interest, and early bird group buy might be in order.

Add 2 degrees negative camber with the extended Lower Ball Joint.

So in for group buy.

Less air means more cooling

Hate to say it, but if you missed Laguna Seca you probably missed one of the best track weekends evah. The weather was spectacular--especially on Sunday--and everyone there was having a great time. NO loonies, no crashes, no one was kicked out (that I know of), all in all a spectacular event.

Peekaboo!

Now that we're back, it's back to business. While the Catfish hasn't had any cooling issues, there definitely is an excess of high pressure in the engine bay. The goal for the House Cat is for any air entering the front of the car to pass through the radiator or vent straight to the brakes.

First up, brakes. The side air inlets have been capped off, except for a 3" tube that will route a 3" hose to a set of Singular Motorsports brake duct vents.

There's plenty of tube for hose mounts

Points back towards the brakes. Perfect

Next up in our quest to reduce pressure behind the radiator: hood vents. BTW, the gel coat for the nose has some special ingredients included that should make it withstand rock chips like a battleship.

I wish I could apprentice at a place for a week or 2 learning how to do fiberglass and carbon fiber molds/forms. Such a useful talent.

Looks perfect.

Dave does great work, but it's a messy business. The last few weeks in the shop--with the hot weather and El Nino humidity--has made carbon and fiberglass work miserable.

Completely unrelated but it was nice meeting you at the gas pumps on Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing this one in action at next year's MMRLS!

You too Joe! Good luck at the new gig. I'm sure you'll be having lots of fun. :)

I regret not making it out. Hopefully next year I'll have 100% confidence in the reliability of my car again.

I need a ride in this beast when its done!

Let's plan a Willow Springs track day Chris. Big track, little track, don't care. :) Or Fontucky. That's closer to both of us.

aidandj Oct 8, 2015 06:10 PM

They called out your name for instructors chris. Thought you had made it.

You guys should just both come up for PIR on the 24th. $150 track day.

I JUST DID THE ROAD TRIP!!! BTW Aidan, Extended Lower Ball Joint test:

-1.5 degrees camber full in
-3.5 degrees camber full out
The car was at stock ride height, which means at Spec height even more camber is possible. No break-in required. KICK ASS! The roll center is--if anything--improved during initial testing, and adjusting the lower as opposed to the upper via eccentric bushings makes a noticeable difference.

In other words, the extended LBJ's work and feel better than the eccentrics even when they have the same camber settings.

On order now. I'll let you know when they arrive.

aidandj Oct 9, 2015 01:36 AM

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to test them. I like the "cheaper than OEM replacement" aspect. I should replace mine at some point anyways. All my suspension is stock bushings.

Oh, such a touchy subject on this forum. The turbo. While I picked out a CX Racing long tube header (there's an argument waiting to happen as well), I decided to forego the chinacharger for something along the lines of a hybrid potato. BTW, the long tube CXRacing is threaded for M10 x 1.5 bolts.

As for the turbo, It's essentially a GT2860RS

T3 Flange
ball bearing
oil and water cooled
GT 5 bolt hot side flange with V band add-on
.54 turbine
.48 A/R housing
47x60 billet compressor
.60 A/R T04B housing
internally wasted

There are also two vacuum nipples on the wastegate controller body, so an external controller can hold both sides of the diaphram open or closed. Apparently that's a cure for boost creep.

It's a cure for boost sag as the wastegate blows open, because the controller can put pressure on the side that holds it closed. It doesn't help with boost creep, in that situation the WG is already open as far as it will go, it just can't flow enough exhaust gas to spin the turbine slowly enough to avoid creeping above the set point. If you want to cure boost creep you need a better-flowing wastegate.

Ian is absolutely right.
And there isn't any argument waiting to happen - we tend to only give n00bs a hard time about this stuff because they do it out of ignorance and cheapness and not out of curiosity and weird fascination of putting at least a couple questionable items on an otherwise top notch car. I still don't understand your weird fascination, but the up side is you'll be yet another tester for this supposedly much higher quality fleabay setup. My guess is it will probably "work", and since you don't really need to extract every last hp or have good spool or response in a setup like this, it likely won't matter and the car will still be super awesome and fast.
