Hyperfest was a shitshow when it was at Summit Point, I wonder how bad it is at VIR. Hyperfest is one event I would never goto to do real track days.

hyperfest grew too much for Summit point. it was wayyy overcrowded. VIR has about 8 times the room. i went last year (going again this week) and it was much more spread out. you could spend the entire week and not need to drive threw the drifters gypsy village.

Hyperfest is like a Friday night RiceBowl car meet x 1000. I had tons of fun as a spectator, all my friends who were there to drive over the weekend always hated it. Saturday is far worse then Sunday. I will say the rollover competition I did at Hyperfest one year was lots of fun.

Daisy Dukes, lol. Looks like they went to recruit participants at the local strip club.

Also, this happened first hot-lap on Saturday's practice session This was on the passenger front, the corded area was on the inside.

The other 3 tires are ok, they're at about 24 heat cycles now. I'm not sure what to do with them honestly....save the best 2 and pair them with a 2 other stickers for practice tires?

This weekend was a blast and the most fun I've ever had in TT!! Running some close times and doing some really fun sessions with other TTE/D guys. The urge for w2w is strong, but the low PTE turn-out in the SE keeps me away from it(and the entry fees/not being able to instruct). My dad also finally got to come out and run in HPDE in his GTi. Eventually he'll work his way up to TT and we'll do a team entry.

Came to this event with fresh R7s, I didn't get to scrub them in properly though. At some point, I'd like to get another set of wheels so I can scrub and cure correctly. First timed session I grid behind Espinosa in the E30 and got to run with him the whole session and holy **** does that guy haul ***. The entire session I could tell he was having fun, we did a small tandem slide out of T5(I thought we were going off tbh) and topped the hill and he was pumping his fist, it was great lol. Unfortunately we got caught behind some traffic that held us up in T6/T7 the whole session, so our overall times were slower than what they could of been. I believe the E30 had some old Toyo RRs, because there were several turns where I could close the gap between us and even hold me up. The power difference was noticeable, once we hit 95mph it's like a switch went off and the E30 walks away from me on the straights. So my draft on him during the front and back straight wasn't for too long. Lucky for me, I did something just a hair better on our first hot-lap. This Saturday session was around 10:30AM, no clouds, and already 85* or hotter.

(Espinosa is on Team Parkhurst)

On Sunday the weather looked super sketch, 80% chance of rain(tstorms) by the end of our first session. So I figured I would have to get it done then, granted it rained during the night and it was damp out for the first DE4 session. Traffic was great, more or less an open track, some overcast and low 70s*, I felt good about it. First hot lap I get through T1 like I've been wanting to for awhile, much higher rpm in 4th than normal, still don't think I can take it in 5th. T3 felt great, used all the curb, T5 felt decent, traffic let me by coming into T6/T7, and I thought this was it! So..... I run harry's lap-timer on my phone mounted on windshield/dash, I basically only run it to look at my times across the start/finish, so if I run a good time I can end the session early. Well, I decided to look at it on the back straight and see that it's green -0.24x from my virtual best of 1:44.8xx, thinking "hell yeah, I'm guna get into the 44s!!!" I come into T10 and **** up my downshift to 3rd, slip a little too much, finally get out of 10b, crest the hill and look again at the phone....... red +0.9xxx End up with a 1:46.0 for that session :(. Come in and see that Rensel(who drives a Sentra) ran a 1:45.2xx that session, ugh..... I lost.

Our next session is close, about 45min after finishing our 1st session. I check the weather to be pleasantly surprised that the rain will hold off! This session I don't even start the laptimer and I don't have much to lose.... I was already happy about winning on Saturday. Espinosa hops behind me, Rensel is a couple of cars up. Thankfully, traffic played really nice and I was able to get some clean laps in. By the end of lap 2 I could tell I was reeling the Sentra in(from t1-t7 anyways). With a rabbit to chase I pushed pretty damn hard and by T7 of lap 3 I was right behind the Sentra. Once we hit about 75-80mph he starts to pull away, by the time I'm at 95-100mph, he's 8-10 cars away, so I guess I caught some of his draft at least until 90mph maybe? We do another lap front-to-back and it was a blast, Rensel gets the most air-time I've ever seen on T3. It honestly looked like his whole passenger's side was 2+ ft in the air, lol.

Come off track, go get a weight because I'm sure that was my last session. I actually weigh in at 2433, a solid 20lbs over weight, go figure. Talk to Rensel about how much fun that session was, he tells me his timer had a 1:44.5xx. I thought "oh there's no way I went faster than that, I think I might of been a 1:45.0-flat". Shoot the **** some more with him, then I head back to my spot. Asked my friend if he checked the results, see if either of us went any faster, then tells me "ohhh 44.2" ...... "holy **** that's my time?!". Best feeling in the world running way faster than you ever thought. I love having a rabbit to chase!

The rest of the day turned out really nice, it didn't rain at all. I was able to give Don (CurlyDE on here?) a ride during an afternoon DE4 session as well. Unfortunately I didn't have the gopro4, so I had to use the gopro1 which has a bad mount and dies quickly. I think got the session of Espinosa and I, but I'll have to double check the video later today.

In Miatas, 6whp is enough to break a single car draft. Seeing as the Sentra should have at least 20whp on you despite punching a bigger hole in the wind, its still no surprise he dropped you so easily.

Yet another example of a vendor trying to keep a normal member down.

I'm not too familiar with drafts, care to get the spoon out? At what average distance would I stop gaining from a draft? Or is that a broad question...... lol

Naw man, I never even saw ya! It was a TTB car that held us up in T6/T7, doing sub 50mph in T7, which completely killed our laps :(. I do need to sign up for that instructor thing though..... will e-mail you tonight.

For the record when i keep people down i use super rare 1980's race cars.

it was a load of fun and i was very slow in it. something about a 20 year old 2.2L turbo Chrysler engine doesn't equate to speed.

Long time, no update. Soooooo this will be long-winded......

Went down to Barber Halloween weekend, which is an amazing facility and track. 10/10 would recommend. My friend and I decided to do a team-entry since his TTB M3 was down and I was unsure on how my performance would be since this would be the first time back out on track after slamming my Z into the wall at Road Atlanta. So it all worked out.

In the middle of last week I noticed only 4 in TTE and 5 in TTD, so I decided to bump on up for a chance at contingency. Didn't really change anything on my car for TTD, I just didn't have to worry about weight. In my 2410lb car that usually means make sure I have 1/4 tank or ~2.5gals for impound.

Here's one way of doing it...... TONS of mistakes I know. I was also being really conservative in several spots. This was my morning session on Sunday with a 1:47.2xx. My afternoon session I built up more confidence and ran a 47.8xx in the heat of the day. I assume a soft TTE record of 1:46.7 since I wasn't far off and I didn't drive that well.

Then here's the correct way....James running a blistering fast 1:43.9xx Sunday morning. The TTD record is a 1:43.5xx. The car weighed around 2380lbs +/- 5lbs when he ran this session, 12th heat-cycle on this set of R7s

It was painfully apparent that I need stiffer springs, currently on 700/400 still. It would of been pretty beneficial not being on the bump-stops through several high load turns at this track. Scratch that, turns out my shocks are really worn out.....

Looking down into the shock body with the shaft/piston removed. Those scoring rings are not supposed to be there :(

and the piston with a dirt build-up on the seals

So after talking to John(Wag) @ Inertia Laboratory about my options I decided to buy new shocks. I was very tempted to go with gen2 Xidas, but I found some bnib 5100s for a good price, so I'm snatching those up real quick. I also learned, 5100s received their valving from the Xida development.... So 5100s are actually gen 1 Xidas? hah

During the removal of the shocks the bottom bolt on of the rear shocks was being stubborn. On NB control arms they have a nut within the LCA..... one would probably think it's tack welded onto the LCA or something, right? Well it's actually just a captive box with very thin metal keeping the nut in place. I suppose mine have been hit with an impact one too many times. Had a friend cut a window in the LCA, tack weld a nut(without coating) to the LCA, weld window back, re-paint, good to go.

While removing the UCAs to install some delrin off-set bushings I determined my ball-joints and outer tie-rod ends were too floppy. So I've ordered new upper and lower balljoints(OEM design because NASA points) and outer tie-rod ends. With the new shocks, more camber up front, then a higher ride-height, and new ball-joints the car should feel and drive better. Though, it drove pretty good before hand too.

Got some other bits over the winter for the car, ARP wheel-studs, wilwood prop valve, TSE brake ducts(2" design because it was a good deal from a friend) with some hi-temp hose and inlet flanges from aircraftspruce.

With the Z totaled from the wreck at Road Atlanta that opened the opportunity to finally buy a tow vehicle! I ended up with with a 2008.5 Nissan Titan, 80k mi, 2wd, w/ tow package, no rust all for a decent price. Besides the gas mileage it's been great, haven't got a chance to tow with it yet, maybe in a couple of months when season starts back up and I have my car back together.

more to come later!

Are you saying that based on points and rules, or saying 9" wheels won't fit with delrin off-set bushings?

They wont fit when using offset FUCA bushings. Offset LCA bushings allow them tofit.

I have 15x9 Gen2 6UL's on my car with the sadfab offset bushing, along with the EBJ and the wheels fit fine and I have not had any hitting issues so far. I do only have about 150 miles on it all though.
