you want the hot side to shed heat before the IC, and the cold side to retain cold to the TB...

No I don't think the gold tape actually does anything on the tanks.

The gold tape on the end tanks serves no function other than aesthetics (for good or bad).

Only reason they are there on the end tape is because I got a massive roll of it (like 30' x 3"), and I think it looks cool.

No other reason.

Go to a real dyno so we can LOL @ you :giggle:

I'm by no means a wheel schnobb, but I've seen those things on every 2 out of 5 miatas. GET 6ULS!!!!!!!

so he could have wheels on 3 out of every 5 functional built miatas?

Those are common herrafrush wheels. CR shit.

I don't think Work made that many Equips. lol.

As rare as 6UL's are, the super high offset won't work on my modified knuckles. Even on the XXR's 15x8 +0, I rubbed control arm. Hopefully the equips fix that.

what's the point of "all-season" directionals if you mount them backwards and thus render the water channels useless?

tires are water pumps ya know.

My friends mounted the tires on the wheels for free. He accidentally mounted 3 of the tires the same way. I don't really think it matters enough for me to get the tire flipped. Felt fine in the rain to me :dunno:

If you guys remember from a while back, I put a crack in my oilpan, and I JBWelded it up. It held up for a couple months, but it started to leak again. So I have let the car sit in the garage for a couple weeks, waiting for it to warm up so I can change the oil pan. Since I'm going to be pulling the motor anyways, figured I should someother ---- while I'm at it. Current status of the car:

Anyway I got the rest of the piping raped:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1328909472

The pics don't do justice to this color, tried really hard to show the sparkles, but this was the best shot I got:

I know this is kind of late on the subject but directional tires not only refer to the tread pattern for water displacement but the tire is also made to run that direction.. I worked at a service shop for a while and on more than 1 occasion I saw cars cOme through the tire shop with blowouts from backward running directional tires... After a couPle tires the owner called the tire distributor and the verified running a directional backwards causes the rubber to break down on the inside of the tire sorta like riding on a flat.. Turns the inside to dust...

lol

Anyways, worked on the car for a little bit today, then it got cold. haha.

drained out all the fluids, and took out everything in front of the motor:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1329171233

drained the oil catch can, and this nasty diarrhea ---- came out:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1329171233

Got a NPT fitting welded on the new oil pan:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1329171233

Cleaned the oil pan a bit, was nasty as hell, still need some razor blades or something to remove all the glue:

Not really much of an update, but I did manage to do some little things. Everything is pretty much disconnected now, and the motor is ready to be pulled.

My wheels were pretty disgusting, figured I might as well clean em:

before (the front face looked the same too):

Haven't updated this thread in a while:

I got this a while back:

Nothing really fancy or cool, just waterpump/AC/PS/timing belt kit, and oil pan gaskets

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

I was kinda surprised, one of the main reason I ordered from a Mazda dealer was to get OEM parts, but most of the stuff isn't OEM. lol, but they did mention that in the fine print, that I never read haha. Whatever, their just belts, shouldn't matter much.

Got some MazdaSpeed motor mounts:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

Changed the oil pan:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

stock motor mounts after 70k miles:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

and the stupid crack on the stock pan:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

So a problem I had with the intercooler setup was that I used a 2" to 2.5" 90deg coupler, and that was way too close to the manifold:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

Since the manifold gets hot as ----, this happened:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

So I got a aluminum 2" elbow welded on:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

now there is pleanty of clearance:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

awesome.

Also got some of these:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331274052

Goal is to get the car running this weekend, and to get everything sorted out before my frist track day of the season next weekend.

Worked on the car for a bit today, originally I was gonna change the timing belt and put the motor back in, but then I saw this ----, and got side tracked.

Looked at this and got pissed at how dirty the subframe was, ---- was disgusting, so I decided to clean it:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331345588

Spent like 2hrs and got all the grime, dust, dirt, ---- off:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331345588

and found out that there was a rust spot on the bottom left side of it:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331345588

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331345588

and then took another hour or so scraping, sanding and getting rid of the rust then finally sprayed the subframe with the fancy pesant hi temp spray paint:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1331345588

looks way better:

Haven't updated this in a while,

so I had an event in March 17th, but unfortunately I couldn't make it and lost $$$ on it. Stupid PS cracked, then the motor wouldn't start for some reason.

Found out a couple of weeks ago I had the crank boss hub backwards like a noob and thats why that happened.

So signed up for another event in 2 weeks, hopefully nothing fucks up lol.

Got some stuff done recently, decided to get a power steering cooler, so did that with a buddy who knows how to weld today:

first made a bracket for the power steering cooler:

Attachment 185972

then made another bracket for the PS reservoir:

Attachment 185973

then made the lines, and mounted everyting:

Attachment 185974

Attachment 185975

I think it looks cooler now:
