Haha, Kpower sent out their black Friday email last week. I glanced at my phone and just saw "Kpower notification..." and I almost had a happy stroke, thinking it was my order shipping email. Unfortunately it was not and I was just super blueballed.

This is the second track car I have with the interior gutted but still got a little sad to see the interior go. The OEM dash and instrument cluster will be the only thing to go back in.

Mazda Motorsports subframe reinforcements welded in. Coming from the BMW world, very used to adding weld-in reinforcements.

Latest update... As some you you may, or may not know, Bowling Green, KY was hit hard by the recent tornadoes. Well, my garage unit was at the track (NCM Motorsports Park). None of the buildings on track faired well, but some way, some how, my garage was spared. It is circled in yellow below. But because everything will likely be demo'd and rebuilt, I've had to move out and into a mini storage facility. A set back to my build, yes, but hoping to get back on track as soon as I find a suitable garage to work out of.

For those wondering... all "bring your own car to track" events are still a go for next year. They will just be working out of temporary office trailers.

KPower order finally arrived shipped to my friends home garage where the swap will now be completed. Still short the oil pan, hydraulic clutch release, and ACT clutch kit. I'm thinking of canceling the ACT clutch and going with the SuperMiata organic that's rated for 290 ft-lbs vs 240 ft-lbs for the ACT. Clearanced the starter to the bell housing. The KPower flywheel is really nice!

Pretty much have everything done without having an oil pan from KPower.

Nine Lives Racing front splitter assembled and installed. I sprung for the splitter ramps, but considering the purpose of this build could have been left off. Custom center stack panel fabricated but haven't decided on gauges. I know the basic Autometer gauges will work but was thinking of a digital display that shows multiple readings. But all I've found are Aim dash ($$$) type of things. Anyone have any ideas? Decided that power windows are staying in as well. On another build I took the windows/motors out but found that I re-install the windows (on stationary brackets) enough that I should've just left them in. This is an HPDE/ for fun build anyways.

I had a similar sticker shock when looking at digital dashes. I ended up going with a Pi dash, but I'm not sure the Kpro ECU would talk to it like Megasquirt does via tunerstudio.
I didn't really find anything that bridged that gap between the DIY Pi setup(~$150) or a full Haltec/Aim dash($1500+).

Racepak is typically the in between option, I’m sure there are others. I believe they can do CAN, and if you can hook up an OBD2 reader, that’s typically over CAN and a dash will work.

It seems that once upon a time Racepak supported KPro and even had an adapter harness but that is no more. Likely dropped at the same time Haltech discontinued the iq3. So still on the hunt but will likely have to add a separate water temp and oil pres gauge... at least I have the real estate for it.

Nine Lives airdam installed. Also put some DEI firewall and tunnel heat shield in. I stopped where the factory exhaust shield starts. Hopefully that piece is retained with the KPower exhaust.

Basic question, is there a reason why the heat shield outside instead of applying insulation on the inside of the car?

Prevent the tub from getting hot in the first place and you dont have to insulate the footwell to protect you from the tub, basically.

Rest of my parts finally arrived today!!! 114 days after ordering.

Hydraulic throw out bearing went in along with all new seals and fresh RTV. Oil pan also installed but required 1/16" of clearancing on the TIG welds to clear 2 bolt heads and the pick-up tube. Nevertheless, another small victory.

More progress! Freshly re-gasketed rear main, ACT clutch kit installed, and the motor and transmission have bene re-united! Hoping enough trimmed off in engine bay to fit the motor/exhaust on its way in.

Just a heads up, I've been told by a few people that the Kmiata transmission dowels do the opposite of what they are supposed to do. I have an older style adaptor plate that didn't have the dowels, if it makes weird noises I've been instructed(Not by Kpower) to loosen all the trans bolts and rotate the trans until the noise stops.
YMMV.
Also I ended up trimming the frame rail edge(what you have pictured) almost to the vertical face. The downpipe elbow almost fits in the car without even trimming the frame rail edge, but you can't install/remove it without the trimming. So to make it easy on myself I trimmed as far as I could.
Your subframe will also need trimming, Kpower points out where in the instructions. Again, I found that you can't really trim too much, the more you trim the easier it is to install/remove. And installation is VERY tight trying to fit it under the trans tunnel, but above the steering rack/subframe until it can drop into place.
