The Colbalts are apparently epically amazing, however the pads are only lasted 2 heavily used track days (generally >1 driver) and the rotors are around the same? Race take offs are lasting almost a full season. 2nd set seems to be put on for the last few events, worn through the winter, and start the next season for a event or two. Mr. Galant will step in and say more specifics.
On another note, the pictures in the first few posts really slow down my browsing. Can we see page two please? |
Let me chime in, I have been running the same set of rear pads(which where used when I put them in) since I started tracking the car which at this point is 8+ events, not to mention some of those had multiple drivers. The car has only ever had 1 set of brand new front pads, those lasted for 6 days again often with at least 2 drivers with the car. The rear rotors are still the same ones that I had on the car since we bought it and I plan to run them till they are wafer thin, the fronts were replaced this year and still have tons of life left. This car is very easy on the consumables

Awesome. good to hear! I hope my project turns out the same.

Biggest leap was realizing how relaxed tech rules truly are at the track. We were doing loads of little maintenance jobs and worried about this and that.
Then he posts a video of him doing cookies in his snowy col-de-sac. I said "if it can do that, you can track it". Just get it rolling and running and worry about the weight savings and upgrades later. |
Pretty much. Tomorrow the car should get new clutch hydraulics, harness bar and harness. We may potentially install a rear bumper as well. Will weigh it after to get an updated weight

Since my car was parted out and I need a wiring harness, Im doing a few things in getting it together that would be considered upgrades. M |

Had the opportunity to do NASA time trials today, had the pleasure of meeting Savington and mr. bob bundy and his crazy fast turbo miata. First 3 sessions were nice and wet but the last session was dry and fun. Lazarus diced it up with Rover. Learned a few things :Hoosier sm6s are significantly faster than RA1s and I need to lower laz all around and dial in more camber. It was a pretty fair little battle with lazarus having a weight advantage that negated rovers hp advantage. Ran consistent 1:33s in the dry.
Also got some specifications thanks to the NASA scales and the English Racing dyno WHP:115@6500rpm WTQ: 101 @5250rpm Weight with full tank and geared driver: 2047 w/o driver: 1897 LF:582 RF: 511 LR:507 RR: 446 L:1097 53.56% R: 954 46.58% Cross weight 1019 49.75% Car could use a little weight on the right rear. PIR is a CW track and since that is Lazarus's home track it would help to shift some weight to the inside of the car for the majority of the corners. Overall I'm quite pleased with this season. I'm hoping to run stiffer and lower suspension next season for better camber numbers and hopefully pick up some Hoosier sm6s and hit 1:30 flat. Never trust the corner weights from track scales. They're almost never leveled, hey're just there for overall weight. But sub 1900 is really nice.
|
This was done with portable scales on a level concrete pad so I imagine its close.
|
What were rover's time?
|
If I remember correctly his best time on the last session we did was 1:33.6

Laz got a harness bar welded in courtesy of Curly. Part of lazs suspension will be migrating to lexi in preparation for new parts to come.

Kazespec V2 seat mount. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550813 Schroth harness installed and adjusted. Random Sparco harness pads places on for added rice effect. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550813 More winter projects in store and hopefully another exciting and trouble free season of tracking on new suspension no less. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550813 |

Today we wired up the LC-1, bolted on the air guide, and cut off 7lbs of metal.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550914 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550914 I played around with the look of different ride heights. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1389550914 |

At the "ride height" pictured front has 6.5 degrees of camber :D obviously just seeing what full compression looks like. Based on the fender clearance I could fit a set of 15x9s with 225s with ease. Ride height will be closer to 949s race spec measured at the pinch welds looking at 3.75 up front and 4 at the rear.

Looks like an absolute riot. Awesome.
