BMW Club Session 1
Some fun moments and saves in this one, first time out on the new suspension before any real tweaks to dampening and sways. Mobius makes a brief appearance then motors away while I saw at the wheel in my feeble efforts to heat up the improperly inflated tires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wcqn...ature=youtu.be As mentioned, they are FFD wheels. the ones on my car are the +32 anthracite option. |
That's odd, when I went to the web page, all I could find was +20.
They look great. another 12mm probably wouldn't hurt unless you went to a 225 r comp from a similar 205. |
I really don't want to push the wheels out further, if anything I'll get a set of x9s when the VVT swap happens to run 225s
|
Does making the car wider have any downsides on the road course? Besides the higher chance of suspension bits damage when going M2M.
|
the steering feel is dulled, and youre pushing the rotating mass out further and further which puts more strain on the hubs
Here's my second session, car felt much better and I was really able to attack the curbing but the tires were flatspotted and cording badly at this point already. |

I finally got a HANS, which was a good idea now that Laz is reaching speeds that I never imagined.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402542079 Also, Laz's new radiator arrived, courtesy of ebay vendor ILOVETACOTACO https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402542079 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402542079 |
You need a smoked visor for maximum cool.

Meh, maybe a rainbow visor with a unicorn sticker.
Another small update, Laz's front hubs were shot, decided to get a new pair and prior to installation repack them with high temp Swepco grease that will increase longevity and help battle the load that is put on the bearings with e MCS and the Hoosiers. All the tools necessary to repack the hubs are in the photo and it took 20minutes to do both. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402728512 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402728512 Also some more progress for the VVT swap, Ken at Garagestar sent Laz a pulley that should allow is to use the 1.8 alternator/water pump belt on the VVT motor while retaining the 1.6 alternator. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402728512 |
I saw your were offering to donate Laz's engine to a spec miata, does that mean VVT soon? We have an intake manifold from Midtenn in the mail, a VVT tuner box, and now a finished charging setup.
We need exhaust, and this then this needs to happen. |
I meant the 1.6....
|
Yes I know, but if you were actually going to pull the 1.6 for Rich, I couldn't see you throwing anything but the VVT back in.

This is true. What else do I need to purchase? Throttle body, fuel rail, exhaust manifold, and pigtails for the VVT stuff right?
After helping Nial and Josh install an MS1 PNP in Lexi this morning, I went home and took a nap. While I was at Josh's I picked up an E36 M3 splitter from Nial to make into a new ducktail for Laz. After lazing about most of the day I decided to go into the garage and get started. This is what came off. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 and this is the splitter I started with https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 and here is the end result https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 and an engine bay shot https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402803821 |
Do like. I also like how laz and the galant get the garage while the Rav stays outside. Lulz

Very nice. Can't wait to figure out how all this works, and what to enter in for all these zeros to make power.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402974345 I also got a package in the mail today. Time to plug the 1.2 trillion vacuum barbs and search for a '99-'00 fuel rail and throttle body. Not sure what year I'm supposed to get for the throttle body. Or which one even fits. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1402974345 Does anyone know which throttle body would be best for our use? I've read that any '94-'05 throttle body will work, but I'm wondering if any of them are easier to use and/or better for power? Haven't read much into it, although I'm doing some searching now. |
Any 1.8tb works, but 99-05 have the better iac.
|
Is it controlled by our current MSPNP (first generation)? Just wire it up and change the frequency under idle control settings?
I don't think we really care about the idle valve too much, I'm sure even the '94-'97 is an upgrade from the 1.6 unit. |
Its the fact that the 99+ iac doesnt have to be routed into the intake separately.
