we will find out on Thursday :D
turbo specs Comp. Wheel – 38.5 / 52.15mm Turbine Wheel – 46.35 / 52.7 mm Bearing system – Journal Bearing Cooling System – Water & Oil Here's a photo of the temporary intake, I plan to build a duct in an air dam over the winter that feeds directly into a filter mounted just inside the bumper. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406653313 |

This was me after riding with martin through the chicane today at PIR:
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406854516 Damned thing sticks, and pulls. Too bad it got warm. Blowing away the Exige and that irritating Legends car that was losing parts... Just awesome. I wants MOAR. |
Wow,what a day. Best time was a 1:27.13 according to the AIM in 90ish ambient weather. This is a 5 second improvement and I know the car has more in it considering I was lifting and coasting in some braking zones as I was feeling the car out.
I was only 1 second off John Mans best time today , his car is 320whp with a 350 high boost switch for the straights with aero and 15x9s with nt01s riding on MCS doubles. Couple issues, car gets warm, needs a cool down every 4-5 hot laps, also, last session of the day as I took known local miata hater Greg Anthony out for a spin one of the heater hoses burst on the back straight at 120mph, boiling fluid came out the hood vents and through the firewall holes and scalded my feet, fortunately I got the car settled it almost lost it when some coolant made it to the rear tires. Ran a 1:27.87 the previous lap with Greg in the car. Bypassed the heater core and drove it home like a champ. For a first shakedown less than a week after a monumental amount of changes, hats off to Laz and many thanks to all the helping hands along the way. What a car, pics and video coming soon. |
|
So does this Greg Anthony guy hate miatas even more now that one showered him in a 200 degree golden shower
|
He was really impressed actually by Laz actually. It scared the shit out of him in the corners and unfortunately only I managed to have hot coolant land on me :(
|
What is your power/ weight now?
|
We haven't weighed or dyno'd yet since the turbo's gone in. There's a little more weight to be added with some planned door bars and the MSM rear subframe brace.
We were at 1890ish without driver and 1/4 tank of gas IIRC, and 125hp. So with Martin's 140lbs, .06hp:1lb. Can't imagine we added more than 150lbs, and we've since lost the second headlight as well, so let's say 2150lbs with Martin, and a butt dyno of 200hp. Or roughly .09hp:1lb, or 10.75lb/hp. The 10ish pounds per horsepower is up (down?) there with STIs, Evos, 300hp 3-series, etc. |
Except that you're comparing Laz's wheel HP to the other cars' crank HP.

Copying this from the CR thread. Ryan (ThePass) is making some new brake ducts.
It was a great day at CSTG. Parts galore showed up. The oil cooler is all for my smurf, along with the Singular Motorsports 2.5" brake ducts. The 3" Singular brake ducts on the other hand, are all for Laz. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 Up close and personal. Ryan (ThePass) says the gap between the pipe and plate will be snugged up. Even so, these look great. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 And bolted up. I started a timer as I began all this, the car had just rolled into the garage. I cheated by already having the stock dust shields removed years ago, but still. This picture was taken at 6 minutes 46 seconds. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 They provide a very helpful barrier between the heat of the rotors and the end link. A heat shield I've apparently been lacking. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 This is about all you can see with the rotors on. Air shoots right at the rotor. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 And a better shot more or less straight on. Very tight packaging and design. Love it! https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1406932738 No pictures of it on the ground, since you can't really see anything. It was back down and torqued up at 11 minutes and 3 seconds. |
Smurf will now have longer lasting brakes. I like.
|
Now Josh just needs to grow his pair big enough to actually need bigger brakes going into T4 :)
Looks good I are excite for you. |
Surprisingly the stock 1.6 brakes didn't fade whatsoever despite the extra power that Lazarus had even in 90 degree ambient. This means I can start braking later as I was braking 100+ yards earlier in some spots compared to before.
These ducts will come in handy soon enough, hope to have them installed by BMW club on the 18th. |
You're gonna be at the BMW club event too?? Are you an instructor with them?
I'ma need an instructor... |
I should be there on the 18th as well. Just gotta sign up. And many many hours of work.
|
Yep im an instructor with them too Ed.
