LucaCarMods's Boosted Dutch Miata Build!
2 Attachment(s)
Hi i'm Luca from the Netherlands.
I have a Youtube channel called LucaCarMods where i upload Vlogs, HowTo's and hopefully very soon my Miata Turbo build! Previously i owned 2 Miata's, both NA and naturally aspirated. As the saying goes three time's the charm, i am now planning to boost a Miata. At the moment i own a BMW 120D which is up for sale, once it's sold i will start the project. 1st Miata: Stock 2nd Miata: Koni Shocks Eibach springs Sparco bucket seats LSD https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1443376301 Project Goals:
Bought a Garrett GT2560R - Still no Miata... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Qz37f_iX-qQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> More updates coming soon.. :party: |
I bought a 89 1.6 Miata :rofl::party:

I do not understand your choices :dunno:
The pre-1994 NA 1.6's have very weak rear differentials and drive shafts, not a great base for turbo'ing. Also the short nose block is something I would avoid. Also not sure about the AC either, do you really need it in The Netherlands? Creates a mess under the hood and makes cooling more difficult. Miata's are terrible when it comes to cooling, turbo'ing makes things worse. Also w.r.t. rust: did you check the sills properly? Only checking the wheel arches seems silly to me. Only getting 100 euros off without MoT / APK is a bit stupid in my opinion. There could be a whole myriad of problems in that car to get it through. The rough running and the seller not wanting to put a new APK on it tells me enough. Also all the buttons and weird gadgets that have been bodged in does not give me confidence in the previous owners. I would have walked away... The only thing I like is the fact they used a toilet refresher under the hood near the brake booster :rofl: BTW, where are you located in The Netherlands? I live near Utrecht and will be picking up my MX-5 project again soon. Maybe we can do some collaboration? |

If it has a MOT it would be worth double the money! So i guess now it's time to make a list of everything that needs to be fixed and fix it:party:. I like a project :giggle: BTW: I live near Nijmegen, so we could do a collab sometime. |
It passed MOT!:fawk:

Oh dear. Welcome

Just fixing some "minor" rust:giggle:

This was just a good deal, other €1000 Miata's or more which i have seen were in a much worse shape than this one. That's why i bought a 89 with the short nose etc.. In the future i want a 6 - speed and torsen LSD which would tackle the weak rear end problem.

I'm located in the east, (Achterhoek) so we're not far from each other. (not that it's even possible to live hours away from each other in the Netherlands) |
In the mean time I did a rear bumper cut-out on my Miata. It was a "little" bit of a hack *ss job:giggle:.
Fitted a new deep dish steering wheel.. I love it!! And this weekend I installed some new sillicone coolant hoses and bumper quick releases in the front and rear. |
