Maya the Miata (First Car)

Hello,

My name is Nic and I am 16 year old student/car nut. After working my butt off all summer running my mobile car detailing business and working at a bike shop, I bought my dream, first car. After lurking craigslist, Miata.net classifieds and MT.net classifieds I found this 1993 Brilliant Black Miata with only 50K miles back in September 2018. I purchased the car with the following mods: Harddog M2 Double Diagonal rollbar, Flying Miata Stage 2.5 suspension kit (Tokicos, Drop hats in rear, bump stops and sway bars), Racing Beat Header, Flyings Miata stainless full exhaust and highflow cat, stainless brake lines, HAWK HPS + pads. The mods I have done so far are, Nardi 330 Deep Corn wheel, MiataRoadster Tall Angled Shifter in Powdercoat black, Blackbird Fabworx tow strap. For maintenance which I need to do more of changed the oil to 5w-40 Rotella T6 which I can't promote enough, and addressed some of the surface rust on the underbody with POR15. And spent a day cleaning out all the drains and dirt from front fenders. My future plans this summer are to address the oil leak on the head gasket, timing belt, new radiator, drop subframe get it powder coated, SADfab Delrin bushings all around, and more rust prevention as Im paranoid. I also hope to bring it to some Limerick autocross days this summer and just enjoy the hell out of it. In the works this week I will being changing out the blown stock speakers for Polk Db652's in preparation for Maya's return to the road once the salt dissipates. I plan on keeping this car forever and as such want to eventually turbo it. The previous owner did in fact dyno the car before and after header/exhaust install which I will include a pic of below it made 100whp. Thanks for such a great community of Miata nuts and I will keep everyone updated as I learn more about this car and do mods. I would also like to give Creedence to my parents for letting me keep my car in the garage and for all the help throughout the buying process.

Welcome to the forum. What part of the world are you located in?

That's an attractive car. Be easy with the rear differential (no hard launches or burnouts) until you swap to the stronger 1.8 diff and axles. The 1.6 diffs often fail at stock power levels.

I’m in Connecticut. Thanks for the compliments I plan on getting that done soon.
