heellooooooo gentlemen, i've been on the forum reading for awhile, bought a car, decided to make an account and have yet to make a post until now, and no my car does not have an open diff
I bought the car in April 2023 during my junior year of highschool to have something fun to do with my dad, the car had 113k miles when i bought it and a leaky top(huge hole) its a 10th anniversary that i love very much and although I wasn't very mechanically inclined when i bought the car i've slowly been progressing
not long after I bought it, my friend sold me some wheels and a rollbar so that went on fairly quick(didnt install the rollbar myself) it looked weird at stock height but I loved my wheels and got to autocrossing it pretty quickly
it wasn't my first time autocrossing as this was not my first car, not even my second. but doing it with something rwd was funnnnn, so i started to plan out what i wanted to do with it and I figured i'd start with suspension so xidas went on and so did a bucket
Welcome! I love the 10AE blue, and that it is an NB8A and not an 8B with the fugly nose. But what happened to those lovely 10AE wheels?! Yours has the 6-speed? And an LSD?
Looking forward to more about your journey with the car. Have a cat, just because 10AE blue ...
I actually don't even really know how forum posting works but i'll add some extra stuff in this reply:
top down, sunset trackday? life doesn't get any better than that
a lot of time went by but at this point the car has some used R888r's that came with the wheels, gloc GS1's, fresh fluid, stainless steel lines, this picture was from february 2024 and uhh the car is still slow. I haven't really gone in to depth about what i want to do with the car but i think the xidas make it pretty clear that track time is a large focus even though i still street drive it. a big part of me wanted to have a simple reliable seat time car but the itch for power hit pretty quickly, ITBs sounded good and looked good but really just seemed like a lot of trouble for not much reward, lots of thinking and money saving later I am now owner of 1) flowforce 640s, beermoney motorsports ecu, a supermiata clutch and flywheel, a gt2560r and a kraken hot stuff paired with a flyingmiata cold stuff and a fab9 intercooler(sorry) and lots of other little random supporting things that i don't have pictures, I do have pictures of my cool little valve cover though

thank you! NB8B would be the nb2 right? i'm sad to say the car did not come with the 10ae wheels which was a real bummer but it does have the 6 speed and the lsd which im real happy about because one of my purchase requirements while car shopping was having an LSD and being a cool color, though i was on the lookout for a mahogany, the blue is definitely my favorite
Welcome! Sounds like you've done plenty of research before embarking on this journey and I look forward to more of your progress and especially some videos.

Awesome! I bet those long straights are brutal, but I want to take my car there sometime. I don’t live in south Florida anymore but I wish I had taken the miata to homestead, the FIRM and Sebring when I did.

ah yeah I’ve been to Sebring but the firm is on the bucket list too just a much longer drive. where’d you move to? Still got a track close by?
alright so a day or two ago I started taking things apart to pull the motor and start installing the fun parts
do you guys recommend I do the half moon seals for the oil pan? I did NOT plan to remove it but if leaks are common I’d get it out of the way now(I don’t think you can swap them with the pan on?)
I didn’t make much progress today because some stuff came up but im hoping for this to be out tomorrow. still happy with my progress and can confirm its a fun father and son activity
