NA8 t25 build for under 500 dollhairz

What's up everybody. I'm another broke kid doing stupid shit to his NA. Whodda thunk. I don't have many pictures leading up to finally putting the turbo on but I have some boost prep already knocked out. Can't figure out how to upload pictures on mobile. But I bought it as a 96 with 64k and an isr exhaust but some electrical issues. So far I've installed a header that came with the car, megan ez street coilovers, fab9 poly engine mounts, innovate wideband, na6 oil pressure guage and sender, exhintake with fidenza cam gears and fanceh gates timing kit. Last week my header cracked and I have 90% of the parts I need to finally install the turbo so I decided to just bite the bullet and go for it. For fuel management I have an fmu for the time being. No need to megasquirt shame me I already know I'll need it down the road. Manifold and downpipe are from begi a good friends given me to use. I'm going to use a noname t25 for the time being until I rebuild one of my garretts. Oil drain is the typical 3/8 18 npt with a 5/8 hose. Oil feed is coming from a sandwich plate and is what I'm currently waiting on. Two fittings didn't ship until Dec 23rd so well see if I get them before New Years. Ic piping will be 2.5" throughout and either be straight from the turbo to the intake, or the normal way to a shitty jdm sporto fmic. Bov is undecided atm as well.

I got it. My body is ready for your critiques.

Skidz I was wondering if you were going to show your face around here. As I have told you many times that you need MS and when you buy the kit we can build it seeing that I have already done one local and I have the stim jim to test them. DIYPNP is what you need. Also I don't know why you are not talking to Mauro and getting one of the 2 gt2554's that he has sitting in his garage. Use your local resources brother man. Keep up the thread and lets see how this thing rolls.

I would have used grease on the drill bit to keep the aluminum shavings out of the oil pickup.

donotforgetthis2 12-24-2017 06:12 PM

I had no idea he had them cody. Also I did use grease on the drill bit and actually cleaned it out and regreased it several times. I did the same thing with the tap. I'm going to flush it with some oil left over from past changes before turning it over.

Yea. Flush that.
Would strongly consider a coolant reroute while you're under there.

I may as well since I got the kia housing and hose when I bought another head from a friend. Picture dump sonce a friend wanted to try out his new iphone x. Yes I told him not to take pics of welding. Ignore the crossover tube that is extremely temporary. Also just curious to see if anything happens to it for the time being until I source fmic piping from a buddy. The last two oil feed fittings are going to be here on the 27th so let's see if I can get it running "properly" before New Years! 3" stainless hood dump is going to be made and installed after I manage to get an inspection 😬

You gonna troll post here like you did on Facebook?

Naaah lol

why not source oil to the turbo the non-crappy way?

Could you elaborate for me, please? I'd prefer to not go off of an oil pressure sensor tee since I have the na6 one. I've had ideas of running a line to the firewall and placing the tee and sensor there but I got the sandwich plate when I bought some other parts.

I see a VA inspection sticker? Are you in the state or just haven't scraped the sticker off?

Yes. I'm in hampton.

use a tee. and get the strong one from TSE if you're afraid of it cracking. or make a support bracket. or both

I'll make it happen sooner than later then. Just curious, what's your reasoning against sandwich plates? Just oil leaks?

18psi 12-27-2017 12:18 AM

Several people have trashed their engines with blocked/clogged setups like that. And yes it adds silly complexity aka potential failure points for no reason.

sonofthehill 12-27-2017 11:40 AM

Wow Vlad, I am impressed by you again. I can barely make out the feed line.

edit:
Nevermind, I am obviously illiterate.

Yep unless you are buying a Mocal sandwhich plate then going with the TSE tee for the oil feed is the way to go. Been there done that on cheap sandwhich plate, and then it clogs and motor goes bye bye.

donotforgetthis2 12-27-2017 08:49 PM

I'll be sure to do that as soon as possible then. I wonder if I could have a 4 way cross fitting made for both the pressure and an auxiliary temp sensor for the firewall. I have a little extra 4an hose from might mouse but fittings are the real money there.

shuiend 12-27-2017 09:03 PM

PRL Motorsport sells a tee with 2 ports. Or you can drill and tap the TSE one for an additional port.
