NC Yioter Time Attack Build Thread

Hello ALL!
Welcome to my thread, thanks for taking the time out of your day to read my babble. I picked this forum because i felt this the people seem really kewl and and the cars are most defiantly cooler, some of the other forums seem to have to many boomers with sticks up the bum. This is actually my first forum post ever. As a zoomer, I grew up on fb posts and yt videos. It was funny reading through some of the threads that are older than me haha.

To introduce myself, my name is Michael, ive been tracking for a few years. My first build was a 350z HR that i unfortunaly binned at NJMP lightning t4 (don't know what happened). Separate tangent. 350z HRs are amazing track cars, double wishbone suspension in the front like the yioters. with a intakes exhaust and tune gives it same straight line as e9x m3's. i just think they are the same as e46 m3 but more bang for buck. s54 for 170k miles is like 4k, a built cammed 350z hybrid engine (370z bottom end HR (07-08 350z) heads) you make 350 whp cost 2500 bucks all in. not that power is everything but very capable and underrated cars. ADHD kicking in LOOL
Anyways, the start of August, I picked up a NC1 soft top 6mt grand touring with 64k from the original owner for 5.5k. only issue it had was it was leaking water which was through the screws by the windshield in the front (super common spot). I was originally going to flip it because i was looking for a modded nc2 or a 2.5 swapped nc1, but the deal was too good, and i was going to get rid of most things so i decided to keep it. This isn't the first miata in the family. My older brother had a NA miata (hes 6'5 lol) and my first experience with it was destroying his clutch when i was 14.

First thing I needed to do was get rid of the garbage nc1 leather seats. Coming from the z the seats were super comfy, most seats give me backpain after an hour, the z seats i drove 16 hours straight no back pain. I bought some first gen brz seats (tbh the best oem seats), but after swapping rails and installing, my head was higher than the windshield. It’s okay I ended up selling them for 100% profit. I'm 6'2 for reference, for anyone under 5'9 it’s a perfect swap. Comfy seats with near bucket seat like bolstering. I unfortunatly swapped in the cloth, but at least an upgrade followed by by a jass 2.5 lowering kit. I personally cant put bucket seats until the car goes full track only car. I cant deal with the pain. I don't get how people drive like 2 hours a day on buckets. it’s one thing on track, another driving 4 hours one way to watkins glen.

I then ordered the RZ bar in the middle of august. still waiting for it, im guesstimating that when i get it will take 2 months total. last i heard (few days ago) it was going to powdercoating. saw a yt video where a person said he waited 4 months. Jeez

8/30 I go to my first autox with MSNE (1/3 nasa affilated autox) at metlife. one of the better autox ive been, courses are always over a min long and lots of space. enough of the shilling. for reference its a bone stock nc miata with run flats and one tire was a 215 while the rest are 205. yea ik. you can imagine how it went, but platform learning ig. on my last run an endlink fell off, so i ordered the supermiata endlinks. banged out the brakes with centric rotors, and r10 and r8 glocs respectively, i now have more brakes than the tires can handle lol. went to go replace them and the bolts free spin. oh well, it was late and i had another round of autox, so i just cut off the front sway bar and went to bed. did alot better this time around, getting used to the momentum car thing. by this autox i had it down pat. Feel like i got the most of it out. was like middle of class, but far off from the prepped ish cars with normal tires lol

Peep the boat lean
last weekend, I finally got around to installing the parts that have been pilling on my shelf. put on supermiata front and rear hubs (the nc hubs known to fail on track, very thin flanges, common oem upgrade is the rx8, similar chassis) some progress sways front and back (currently set to most stiff front and less stiff in the rear) damn the stock sway bar is small af. super miata ss lines, morosso coolant tank, and the offset bushings as a future proof upgrade. will try to upload pics bc im new to this forum thing.

hope you liked the babble
but plans for the car
currently ordering some xidas
probably the end goal of a 2.4 turbo, but for now waiting for the non forged 2.0 to blow so i can 2.5 this mofo, maybe ill get impatient and pull a perfectly fine motor typical nc track car route
need to do a bosesectomy, i cant stand this shitty radio. i need a good sound system. after upgrading my e46 wagon system. i cant go back.
Nc2 door cards on the way, my left knee can take it anymore (nc1 doorcards have the cup holders sticking out and when mid corner assuming you are carrying g’s it pushes itself into your knees and leaves you with bruises) and nc2 center console
tbh idk if im going to do aero yet, probably will as projects tend to spiral out
cant wait to hit the track, this rz bar needs to hurry up reeeeeeeeee

Welcome! Glad to have you here dude, I'm all in on following more NC time attack threads! Looks like the car's already off to a good start.

I think our end goal is about the same. Turbo 2.4 in these cars seems like the holy grail haha. I waited seven track days for my NC1 2.0 to blow up and it never did, so I 2.5-swapped it and sold the original motor for what the used 2.5 engine (with half the miles) cost me.

Can confirm the Xidas are as good as everyone says. I ordered mine with 16k/9k springs and they were way too insanely stiff. Ended up swapping back to the SM-recommended 11k/7k rates and am super happy with them. They're stiff enough to handle 200TW 235/40/17 tires with the Progress sway bars but are still incredibly compliant over bumps.

Stoked to see where you end up with it!

And yes, please never type Yioter again

No cap bruh, that yioter bussin'! Can't wait for the build, it's gonna be a whole vibe once you get some drip on that thing!
