Hello bros,

I will be returning to the Miata world on Tuesday and this thread will be dedicated to my '91.

Here is what I'm starting with:

Stay tuned

Here is what I began with:

It ran a 14.1 @ 101 with this setup and was pretty fun to drive but not at all reliable.

I then decided I wanted a cage:

Something to hold the powah:

Y'all are jelly because this will get to touch my ***:

I really wanted to use this:

Then the car started to sit:

I pulled the motor to replace the mounts, clutch, etc:

Got it all back in over night:

Then I pulled the motor again and the car started sitting:

I got it all back together and decided every car needs a butthole:

It was looking pretty cool:

My boyfriend tuning:

I'm all about form over function:

My two bros:

Everyone needs some rice:

I got bored:

I decided I would reroute my IC piping as I was getting some contact at full lock and I wanted to be safe:

Dat ***:

I want to run it in HPDEs and stuff. We'll see about doing any competition. I need to get it reliable first.

The car has been sitting for about 8 months. As you can imagine, I'm eager to get it on the track.

I need to make some decisions on suspension. While I'll eventually get XIDAS, I need a relatively inexpensive setup to last me until I can go cray on the whip. Any suggestions?

Hello

EDIT: Damn, your ceramic coating looks 10x's better than mine. Did you get the 200 dollar manifold? Or am I just looking at paint...

I am impressed by the legitimacy displayed in this thread, and the lack of bs. Nice.

This is indeed a legit build thread.

Did you cut up the rear bumper, or is it after market? I'd be real interested in having one like that.
Is one car a donor and the other the race car?

Thanks. I'm curious to see how she does once I get it rolling.

I just took a sawzall to the factory bumper one night because it was chipped.

It was pretty easy to do, all I needed was a 24 pack of beer (yes y8s, MILLER LITE), some masking tape and a sawzall. I think it came out pretty good and I'd have made a video of myself doing it but my hands were shaking so bad from all the nicotine in my system.

Nah, the '94 is just a car I picked up to cruise around town. I've got a roll bar in it now. This car served as a boner donor:

No, I bought the $150 one. It's just paint but you know I don't give a ****.

That's a cut up stocker if I'm not mistaken.

If you're eventually upgrading to something as baller as XIDAs, I wouldn't waste money on anything right now. If you MUST, then racelands. Honestly, why have anything decent if you know it's only temporary.

Was that one of FM's daily deal manifolds? Really wished I had snagged one.

I kicked around some ideas with jacob300zx this afternoon and I think I'm going to go with my original plan and part out my KYB setup to put together a budget Bilstein setup utilizing eBay collars.

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether or not I wanted one but when it arrived I knew I'd made a good decision. Now I have to do something with the brand new 1.6L NA header I picked up to use as a stopgap.

Yes, fix that to the frame rail rather than the floor board.

You can't really see in the pic, but there is a rather large plate between it and the floorboard.

Due to recent extremes in temperature, funds have to be allocated elsewhere and I'm going to be running my car N/A for awhile. This should prove better in the long end as far as honing my skills goes.

I'll be tuning it with the header next week.
