Unfortunately, that video isn't really relevant to my car. That damage is strictly cosmetic in that video, and the paint wasn't damaged. My fender liner is badly damaged and the fender is pushed up. Mine will require full replacement of the panel, no way to make this one right, or at least not practical to make it right.
Going to a new shell really wouldn't have been a bad idea, but for now I'm glad I did what I did. Part of me, however, wishes I had re-tubbed into an OBD1 car for emissions ease.

Thanks. That's where I'm at right now. I have wayyyy too much other stuff I need to do before I go fixing something cosmetic. Plus, people laugh, and that's fun.

So on my drive last monday the car drove fine for over an hour but started overheating as I headed home. I hope I didn't hurt it. I didn't know why it overheated but blame the thermostat because I had just installed it that morning.
I tested the thermostat after removal and it worked fine. So I looked a little closer...

lolol it's a high-flow thermostat. Maybe I should boil it and show you what it looks like open. Pretty cool actually, would flow a LOT more water than a normal tstat... but absolutely does not work in these remote housings.
Should I be concerned about the way the aluminum has blackened on the inside of that housing?
I am going to do full compression and leakdown tests this winter.

Already did. It's pulled out a lot from how it was.
Ni modo. It'll get fixed, and it doesn't cause any issues for now. Wayyyy bottom of priority list.

Well, my new driver seat arrived. Haven't gotten home to see it yet. That was a priority, to de-NRG my car.
Next up is switching to MS, and I'm installing the diff bushings.
After that, I need new tires.
BEFORE the quarter panel, I'll be doing:
-mazdacomp motor mounts (drove Josh's miata this week, do want).
-Beatrush PPF brace
-door bars, most likely
-probably BBK
-stiffer springs (just a bit)
Maybe something else.

My rear end is also a little more sloppy than I'd prefer. I'm running the MazdaComp diff bushings, but I've been considering the poly ones or the Beatrush triangle thing. Still not sure where to go next so I'll definitely be following along at home
