Snoopy is running a 5 speed. But with a PT points motor on E85, has a very flat powerband. So the 4.875 means you only use 3-4-5, which are all close together. Very nice gearing. If running cams where torque drops off below 5k, then a 6 spd makes more sense.
Yup, makes sense. I don't think I've seen anyone run that combo before.

We are super excited to see this thing on Beryllium 10"s and the 245s. Getting close.

Bronze valves on purpose. We like the contrast for easier data collection. Contrasting color valves are easier to find when covered in tire buggers and brake dust.

How sticky are the rs4 stickers. Are they hard to pick off by hand?

No idea. It's more Pro to leave the grid with the stickers still on the tires.

It lives!
Scrambling to get the car ready for tomorrows Roadster Cup TT at Streets of Willow.
Stuff we didn't get done
-E85 tune
-Higher redline
-Lightweight battery
-Coldside intake with harness extension for MAF
-Bed brakes
-JDM ECU
-Headlight lenses swapped
-Carpet on parcel shelf

On the plus side, the BGK feels awesome as usual. . AFPR works as planned. It starts at 13.5/ 2500rpm then slips gradually to 11.0 at 7000. So we'll put a few gallons of race gas in it and drop the fuel pressure a bit to get closer to 12 on top. That will mean no WOT below like 4000rpm.
245 RS4's on Beryllium 10's look sweet. Can't wait to drive it. Video tomorrow night.

It used to be "known" that too much rubber with stockish power isn't faster than 15x9's and 225's. Is that not still true?

Fun day at Roadster Cup TT, Streets of Willow yesterday. Car worked perfectly right out of the box. Only setup change after rolling it off the trailer was softening front shocks one click and raising rear ride height one turn.
Snoopy doesn't quite have enough power to take full advantage of the prodigous grip of the 245 RS4 on this tight road course. Haven't looked at the data from the skidpad portion of the track but I'm guessing we were 1.5g sustained on the RS-4's. Nuts!
We rolled the fenders last thing before aligning it Friday and didn't quite tuck everything back enough. We caught the front bumper/fender seam on the shoulders and did some tire carving. Minor, fixable. Liners are out.

We got beat by a well sorted NB1 that had a few less hp but weight probably 200lbs less, 15x8 +25 Konigs, 205 RE71R, Xidas, big wing and splitter by about .8s. Snoopy, while light for a full OEM Miata, is still porky for the Roadster Cup Street class rules.

So we really underestimated the prep level in Roadster Cup Street class. Chris Willard (founder of Redline Time Attack) built a super light NB1 with lots of aero that just squeaks into Street. Beat us by .7 on a 1:28 course. We figured Snoopys power and big tires would overcome its relative porkiness. We were wrong. So we're retiring Snoopy after one event and converting Taxi in our RC Street class challenger. Better engine and about 240 lbs lighter. We'll see how that goes.

Meanwhile, Snoopy will get the some much softer sprung coilovers, 15x8's and 205 VR-1's. Should be a fun little street car.

Well that was a quick turn of events! Thanks for letting me drop by the shop the other day. So Snoopy won't be pinning a number on for any other classes...?

Snoopy came into the shop today to get the wacky RoasterCup suspension setup pulled off. On will go our prototype set of NA/NB Xida ACE Semi-Active coilovers as preparation for Miatas@MRLS next weekend.

Last time we will get to see it slammed on 10"s.
