Default My 2.0L V-band track car build

Work has been slow and I had lots of spare time, so I decided to just build my track car at work. It has taken me about 4 months to get it from where it was to today. I do have to warn you that all of these pictures were taken from my camera phone, so some look like dog crap.

This is what I started with:

The idiot before me decided it was a good idea to take a black spray paint can to the entire engine bay.

So I took out everything that could be removed and left it as a bare shell to respray it. I sandblasted anot of the old paint from everywhere. This was surprisingly fast to do.

Sprayed epoxy primer, 2K primer, then single stage over it. Total cost of painting it: 320.35 with PPG paint/primer. Decide to go with sunburst yellow as I always wanted one that color and the bright color hides some imperfections. I also painted a-arms and subframes with POR-15.

Painted it right where it sits. I didn't put any covering on it and the little bit of dust in it came out in wet sanding.

Then there was the exciting job of running all the wires, brake lines, clutch line, etc. This was much easier because i took the time to bag each item i took off and labeled it.

Next I installed a complete ES bushing kit, shocks, SS brake lines, M-Tuned BBK and most everything I could before the engine.

I liked what Keith did with the targa miata dash so i just copied that. I really love the simplistic look. Keeping the dash shell is only a 2-3 lb difference once you get it trimmed.

The 2.0L came out of my red car, which now has a 1.8L NA. BEGi came up with a V-band setup for me with a GT2860RS (.64). Jason at enthuza did an awesome job on a open 3.0" exhaust with just a small resonator type muffler.

Here are the specs:
1992
2.0L built by Ric Stephens
BEGi V-Band 2860RS (.64)
Mazdaspeed 6-Speed
Torsen swap
3.0" Enthuza exhaust
MS (Braineack)
750CC Deatchwerks injectors
LC-1 w/ Red DB Gauge

Suspension:
Tein Flex 9/6
ES bushings everywhere possible
Mazdaspeed motormounts
FM sways
New tie rod ends
Poly steering rack bushings
FM frame rails/Butterfly brace (to be installed)
Boss Frog Frog Arms
15X9 Silver 6UL w/ 225/45/15 NT-01

Brakes:
M-tuned BBK front with XP12
1.8 Rear with XP10
949 Stainless Lines

Other:
Harddog Sportbar
Hardtop
Ultrashield spec miata seat
Mushimoto 55mm radiator

I thought it needed a special license plate:

It got dropped off today to get tuned and I will go back next weekend to pick it up! it is so easy to load these cars on this trailer with the ditch I have between my shops.

I know I am forgetting something on it, but I am tired and going to bed.

Once you find out let me know. The same thing happens when I link to pics on my site. I hit "refresh" and they all pop up. Looks great. I like the color.

It'd be nicer with an Absurdflow mani on there but still nice nevertheless.

Your lack of megapixels is startling.

I thought it was a great personal touch. It is ranked up pretty damn high on my list of things that irritate the hell out of me to see pictures like this. My shop would have had its way with my camera, so I figured phone camera > no camera.

BTW 20,000 posts? Good lord

Unsure. I will be taking it to a weight station when I get it back from BEGi. Gutting the inside loss about 100lbs, which was startling. I wouldn't think that was possible, but between the a/c and heater assemblies and everything else it added up pretty fast. I am going to tackle the wiring pretty soon to cut out what I don't need, but for now i just want to drive it.

You're going to be pretty pissed when my ~1.9 with a .86 turbine housing spools faster than your .64.

Wish I was still there to see it run. Did you guys ever figured out the problem with the black and red miata?

after the intoxicating amount of money I've spent on this pos, it god-damned well better. I can't wait to get on the track with you guys...we could bring some serious pain to a NASA TT race in the street class.

As important as that is, I completely forgot to take pictures of it installed. Give me a week to get it back and I will get some when it gets back from BEGi.
