Starting a DIY build - NA8 - a good reliable 350hp
Hey,
I'm starting my ver2.0 turbo build, my current is a stock 1.8 NA 97 with TD04H-13C turbo (very small), I push it upto 15psi where it is out of efficiency but run very strong when the IAT is still normal around, 250whp. Now I want a built engine and a setup that can put out around 350whp, I ordered some stuff and I was planning on a gt2560r, but I understand now that it will make past 300whp only in special cases of stroker engine and so... Well, I got rods pistons and all the rest on the way, what turbo do I want... any chance no ending up with a 6000-7500rpm power band ? On the way for now: ebay rods+arp2000 arp head + main complete engine kit, timing, water pump, oil pump, oversized 83.5mm stock pistons, all the engine gaskets- if the pistons will not fit I don't care - it is a great kit for it's price injectors - currently RX7 460cc @ 92%, I need 800-1000cc I guess. I got a custom tubular manifold. FM stage 1 clutch NIB EBC DIYPNP - I tune it 6spd NB LSD I need the right turbo to get me to 350whp~ 2560 @ 20psi will not put more then 300? Thanks Elior |
Fuel pump?

Which eBay rods?
2871 would be a good option. Are you going to do pump or e85? |
Fuel pump is a must over 300, so I'll get one.
Rods: Connecting Rod Rods for Mazda MX5 MX-5 Miata B6 BP 1.6 1.8 Conrods ARP Bolts msr | eBay Got them for 255$+the ARP2000. 2871 ? ok I'll check its map. I see that the 6258 looks perfect - it is ? |
The fuel system needs upgrade ? beside pump and injectors.
Thanks |
EFR 6258 is probably what I would be looking at. A 2560 might get you over 300whp on a perfect day out, but not much more then that.

I going for 350whp so I understand the 6258 is not there.

for now it is pump

If you truly want 350whp reliability, you need forged pistons. You are already going to have to overbore for the larger stock pistons, might as well go a little bigger with the forged and not worry about them in the future.
|
Why not just change the rods and keep the pistons ?
|
why go through all that work and leave it to chance?
|
How risky is that ? I know other engine run 400-500hp on stock pistons...

Other engines flow better Other engines have more displacement Other engines have a lower compression ratio Other engines have forged pistons from the factory Other engines...etc. |
Why aim so low?
Go for 650whp on stock block |

WTF does that have to do with other engines?
