Wait when were you at CMP and why was I not invited?
Sorry, didn't think to invite anyone since it was a late game decision to go, and it was just boring testing stuff. |

Just this last weekend. The Carolinas Region Porsche Club had a "Drivers Education" event. I decided last minute to go to do some testing.

Here's some in-car from the same testing:

Chased rear suspension and ecu issues all weekend and then finished the weekend with a broken oil pan and a "bit" of an engine fire... |
How'd you break the pan? kerb?

One of the "benefits" of this engine swap is the oil pan ends up being the lowest point of the chassis, and at race height has about 2-2.5" of clearance. I went wide coming out of south bend and dropped two wheels off the exit curbing. Unfortunately there is a bit of a rut there. Also, unfortunately the oil pan is on that side of the car... I bought some 1/8" titanium plate to make a skid plate to cover the vulnerable oil pan...but ran out of time and never fab'd/installed it. Doh |
On the bright side, you got an awesome photo! :likecat:

Engine wiring harness, charge harness, engine mounts, fuel lines and fuel rail, most of not all of the engine sensors, etc, etc. Pro tip... if you think you've broken your oil pan, its really best to just shut it down and park it. Especially if you're not reaching for a podium finish... |
Good ness. Sorry man. that sucks. I gave you a :likecat: for sharing pics but the real reaction is :hatecat:

Yea, it's okay...it's my fault anyway. I really should have killed the engine and parked it as soon as I went off and suspected I had broken the pan. That would have avoided the engine fire altogether (I think).
I was an optimistic dumbass and kept going...which meant I oiled down the racing line through two corners and almost burnt my car to the ground. Oh well! Facebook Post Edit: Weird... Facebook search Angela Marin Photography and she has a whole album with like ~50 pics of me putting on a pyro show.... |
