Answers I'm sure were:
"magic"
"really big"

A few changes from the big splitter we ran on Bullet for Super Lap 2017.
-Added about 8" width on each side.
- Lowered fences (end plates)
- Curved fences in an attempt to improve L/D ratio at high yaw rates
- Vented the fences, also to improve L/D ratio at high yaw rates
- Moved fences inboard, leaving horizontal surface outboard. This to increase surface area of splitter at high yaw rates
- Added small 2D inboard diffusers

We're also adding some fender top vents to help the front diffusers work better.
Overall, we were short of rear downforce last year. The GT-1000 was at max angle with oversize end plates. This year we'll have the triple wing with even hugerer end plates plus the flat bottom and giant diffuser.
We know the front will have to gain surface area and efficiency to keep up. The flat bottom should also improve the L/D ratio and peak downforce of the splitter. We won't have time to do load cells or hi-res wheel travel/ride height sensors so we'll be tuning by feel.
By May 2019 when UTCC rolls around, we should have that data available which should enable better tuning. We have been offered access to a local facility that will allow coast down and yarn testing. Really curious to see what we learn from that.

This is a Supermiata S1 class splitter outline laying over the outline of Bullet's 2017 SuperLapBattle splitter. Vegas is using even more width, the whole 8ft of the Alumalite sheet.

After the splitter blade is partially cut, it was mocked up so we could decide how much diffuser/tunnel could fit. We wanted the tunnels to be mostly inboard of the tire's tread face, but were limited inboard due to intercooler piping, brake ducts, etc. Diffuser starting point was dictated by forward airdam location.

Radiator, Intercooler, Oil Cooler, Brake Ducting all sourced from one box in the mouth.

3D printed 3" to oval hose ends aim inside the rotor hats.

Oil cooler has a below-the-radiator scoop. This is not an ideal location, as airflow is minimal. We hope that the ducting and low stress of only 220whp will be ok in 40 minute sessions of Supermiata double Super Sprint races. Time Attack use at 400+whp will only be a few laps at a time. Either way, testing shall confirm/deny for us, and if we need to move the oil cooler and build a dedicated duct in/out of a wheelwell or something, we will. Ducting and cooler placement directs the air upwards and out the hood vents.

I think you should consider using packers and bump stops of different stiffness to control the aero platform in time attack mod.

Have you direct personal experience tuning cars with over 1000lbs of downforce at 100mph?
Any direct personal experience with semi active suspension?

Interested to hear what you have learned.

Sorry I'm only a mech. But that's how it work from a GT3 to a medium/high downforce single seater even without 3rd element.
That's just an advice for your next test session.

Since you are new to this forum with just 4 posts, I'll take it easy on you

Most of the regulars here have learned not to give advice unless they have direct personal experience. This is how we keep the information here usable.

A better way to satisfy your urge to give advice on something you have only read about, is to ask why or how first.

Yeah, apparently there's no need to even be nice when someone is genuinely trying to help.

Most of the regulars here have learned not to give advice unless they have DPE.. direct personal experience. This is how we keep the information here usable.

A better way to satisfy your urge to give advice on something you don't know enough about, is to ask if I am going to do those things. Add to your query that you don't actually know but are trying to learn., If I answer no, then maybe ask why. If I choose to respond, folks learn something and it's searchable.

You should sell your house, quit your job and move in with your girl friend. See how that sounds?
Gross.

First and only posts on this forum:

"Emilio you should use Fr and Rr brake pressure sensor to monitor the brake bias and the brake migration"

"I think you should consider using packers and bump stops of different stiffness "

"That's just an advice for your next test session."

I guess I just don't react well to the didactic tone as if from an expert. He admitted that he has no direct personal experience and he's just giving advice based on stuff he is read on the internet.

Once someone has established some sort of credibility, I'm all ears. Otherwise I take any advice to comes through the internet with a grain of salt.

If I jump into anyones build threads and just start telling them (you) how to do things you're going to tell me to f off. There is a respectful way to offer advice.

Most of the people reading this post have asked questions and offered me advice in a respectful way at one point or another. In return, I have probably done the same for you at some point.

Just my preferred etiquette.

Emilio, I'm generally a try-to-get-along kind of guy - avoiding controversial posts, particularly in the remorseless environment that is mt.net. I don't court controversy willingly, which makes the following pretty much out of character for me. Let me preface things by saying that I appreciate the work you've done on behalf of the Miata community. The products you've had a hand in that I use range from fantastic (Xidas on my track car) to "more compromised than advertised" (kevlar/carbon twin clutch with street flywheel on my daily) but, when all is said and done, there's way more checks in the plus column. I love reading about your builds and certainly enjoyed the laps you provided me at MRLS last year. I've been a tad bemused by your comments (or lack thereof) when someone had rubbing issues on their FUCA or when Gen 2 6ULs exhibit, ahem, extremely consistent metallurgy, but put that down to simple self-preservation by never, ever, admitting fault (even obliquely).

So, that being said, calm the **** down, dude. You're the figurehead and chief spokesman for Supermiata/949 Racing and should comport yourself accordingly. If someone's being a dick, feel free to bring them down a peg or two and we'll all applaud. If someone make s a well-intentioned suggestion, either praise, refute or ignore. Belittling members (all of whom are potential customers) unnecessarily is not only crass but also bad business. Bengui probably won't feel any particular desire to become a customer as a result of this exchange but, due to people not particularly abiding a bully, you're also eroding the goodwill you've built up with everyone else. Go ahead and negcat me now, but I think it needed to be said by someone.

Bengui, I apologize if I have offended you. I am not angry. I thought I was actually being a bit funny. Clearly no one else saw the humor that I intended. Looks like you have been a member of this forum since 2015. But only 4 posts, 3 of them giving me advice I didn't ask for. That probably means you have been reading and lurking since then. Please don't take my response as an indication that you are not welcome here. As I mentioned above, I just have a particular sensitivity to people giving me advice in a certain way. You pushed my button without knowing it.

Now might be a good time to go over to the meet-and-greet thread and introduce yourself so we can all give you a proper Miata Turbo welcome. Bonus points if you have cats by the way.

First correct guess wins a giant bag of nothing!
