The DP slips inside my test pipe. It is clamped together with a wide strap with two bolts to hold it together:

Dynomax Strap Band Clamps - JEGS

My muffler connects the same way to the exhaust piping and is very secure using the exact same clamp. The DP can slip out if I tug hard enough even though it's tightened as tight as I could get it.

get a better/smaller clamp?

those things work great for me. Use permatex exhaust seal tape underneath it and eventually it welds together. I couldn't even get one of those off when i wanted to go back and weld in the resonator i installed with those clamps.

notice the one on the far side and welded on the other:

I'll check in to that, I think it def needs attention.

Still about a week out on the rest of my parts so I've got some down time to see what I can do.

Fuck. How hard is it to package the correct stuff? Heat shield, wrong. Oil line, wrong. Coupler, wrong. Instructions, wrong. Heat wrap, missing. I feel like I'm at a McDonalds drive thru.

it's pretty easy when you have a list to check off during packing...

Maybe they were trying to do it from memory, like a good waitress at a fancy restaurant would do?

Erat 04-14-2013 03:02 PM

I can see maybe getting one thing wrong, everyone makes mistakes.
But it sounds like they didn't even look at your order...
Begi?

Taifighter 04-14-2013 04:55 PM

Correct.

Drove around the block last night.

Taifighter 04-17-2013 09:10 AM

Looks like I need to run a restrictor, there's a small amount of oil in my inlet tube.

I've also got to chase down a coolant leak on the driver side.

My MegaSquirt issues have been taken care of... sort of. I ran the program as admin, installed the updates... but then the program didn't recognize that I was a registered user. It also wouldn't find my tune I had saved in documents. The tune is in the TS projects folder, but the updated version won't see it. BUT when I go into my documents and find my original tune and open it, it pulls up just fine. I also switched cables and I seem to be connecting every time without a problem.

DAAAYYUUM that intercooler looks good. lol Some type of boss made that thing huh? hah

What size AN line are you running for oil?

Taifighter 04-17-2013 05:07 PM

Embarrassing, but I'm not quite sure. Whatever Begi uses for their kits. I think -4?

Oil line routing. I think this will be what I decide to do. It allows me to run a heat shield by having the line go to the distribution block and then back to the snail in the opposite way of the coolant lines.

On the road and running at about 6 psi.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1366582017

I had originally adjusted my WG as low as possible, but it started to rattle. The car also only build 2psi. I tightened it up til it wouldn't rattle anymore and apparently that is the 6psi mark.

My coolant leak was an easy fix, just a clamp on a coupler that was below the turbo inlet that attached the hard coolant line to the block.

I also redid a section of my IC piping that I wasn't satisfied with. It introduced 2 more clamps to the systems, which could be points of failure, but it sure looks better. I may replace the entire section with a 2in 45 degree elbow in the future. I also need to get one more t bolt clamp to replace the worm clamp I have on right now.

My heat shield is getting cut up in an attempt to fit, but I may end of getting a turbo blanket instead. We shall see.

Love this build. Car is looking great.

Give your headlight covers a tug ... otherwise, everything looks pretty tiddy.

Yeah, I leaned on em a couple times during the install and they def need an adjustment

Taifighter 05-18-2013 03:38 PM

Woohoo, 6psi and no issues so far.

Taifighter 06-01-2013 11:30 AM

Car has been running well.

It seems to not build boost as fast as I'd like it to. Other people have said it spools incredibly fast but I'm just not seeing those results.

I made a boost leak tester and did a leak down test, seems my IC plumbing is tight with no leaks.

I ordered an EBC and was testing out the connections when I found a problem.
Documented here: https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...6/#post1017175

Hopefully it's something simple that I can fix real quick and start to use the controller and learn how it works.
