In terms of midpipes, im leaning towards going with the Enthuza 3" because it's nothing special. And I don't need anything special. Thoughts?
Also, how quiet is this huge ass muffler? Like stock quiet? In looking for a nice deep tone but not obnoxiously loud. I want "classy". |

I have the MTnet approved muffler on my car, completely catless and it's QUIET on the outside. Inside is still horrifically loud though. SO LOUD. But that's my own fault because I have urethane hangers because I didn't want exhaust to bang around everywhere.

I have the MT.net approved muffler as well. Based on what you describe as your goals it's what you want. Deep and bass-ey but otherwise completely unassuming. I have had my car idling and you hear the engine more than the exhaust. My FANS are louder than my exhaust.

I found rubber hangers with hose clamps around them holds it well and dampens a bit more vibration.

I once tried rubber with worm gear clamps. One would fall off the hanger all the time from side ways wobble, but I didn't try zipties. Another just broke where the worm gear was clamped, likely to cyclic loading.
I'll try it again and maybe just keep one strategic placed urethane on the midpipe |
Odd. Ive got like 10 track days and 5-10k miles on mine. No issues.

What's the rationale for putting hose clamps on the hangers? I just have the stock hangers on mine and it's fine?

I wonder if I had the cheap ass tin foil worm gear clamps. I'll invest in some stainless ones and try again. with zip ties (or those fancy metal heat wrap ties I have laying around)

I just used beefy plastic zip ties and they've held up fine, but I'm sure the stainless zip ties would work.

Call up Enthuza and see if he'll build you a 3" system with a big dog Magnaflow. I'm surprised he does not have a "If you came from Miataturbo, click here for 3" winning" button on his site yet TBH. Unless you send the manifold, turbo and downpipe to whomever is doing your exhaust then prepare to do a little bit of fab work to get them to mate up. This is hard to quantify without hearing it in person. What you call "classy" I might call a war crime. I was the obnoxious metallic orange NB if you have video of me being slow, you might have some exhaust clips somewhere. Stock rubber hangers, stainless worm drive clamps and zip ties over here. Clamps keep the hangers from sagging and zip ties keep me from having the clamps end up as track debris. We added one non stock hanger location under my car but that's it, its buried somewhere in my build thread. I only have 1 clip of me passing you and you can't hear squat over the wind noise and the turbo. Just send me a video from your car :) |

I think it's just fatter aftermarket pipes smacking around if you have things in the way. Exhaust wiggle can be mitigated restricting the stretch and travel of hangers as they wobble.

Cost of honda hangers on rockauto + hose clamps: pennies Thats a tough choice. And stock exhausts are smaller, have more room around them. My 3" pipe has tight clearances and was built by me. So its not exactly....perfect. Tight hangers keep it in place. Also, ive seen stock exhausts fall off miatas in the past. |

My god yes. I wear earplugs if the windows are down and im driving next to a freeway barrier. The noise really puts hailey to sleep though, so it works out ok. @turbofan describe my exhaust please. |
Heh, there goes that idea. On a serious note tho, that is what im looking for tone and sound level wise. I don't want it stock quiet. But I don't want open downpipe ears bleeding loud. So maby the Enthuza would be a good fit... And if I don't like it, I can weld in the big ass muffler.
This makes the most sense to me unless I can find a local to hear their exhaust. |

I don't think so, at best they are about equal (IMO)
When you put the hammer down in his, the turbo is also basically all you hear. My MSM FM exhaust was definitely louder than his setup, but then mine wasn't catted so not apples/apples. |
I definitely want a catted system. I am going to see how much it will cost to custom fab up something at a local track shop (Trackspec).

After MMRLS I wanted some downforce. I had my eye on the blackbird wing but I just couldn't justify the $300 for one. After some thinking I dicided that I could make my own for a fraction of the cost. $30 later I ended up with this...
