TURBO BUILD-OFF on YOUTUBE
Hey guys just want to share my new YouTube build series that my friend and I have started. We both recently bought Miata's and after driving a turbo Miata we decided that turbo is the way to go. But we both have VERY different opinions and ideas for a turbo build. So we decided to document and share our experience throughout our individual builds and compete against each other at our local track. We just recorded our introduction but with spring just around the corner more videos are soon to come.

So the builds end up exactly the same?
1. Megasquirt and wideband. Learn to tune. 2. Install FlowForce inejctors, retune fuel. 3. Install stronger clutch, FM or ACT only. 4. Install 1.8 rear end. 5. Install good turbo hardware. |
you guys both probably did it wrong.

I'm sure there will be similarities in our builds. But the biggest difference will be budgets. All the things you mentioned are defiantly some of the upgrades we will be doing since they are necessary to do for any turbo build. But differences will be ECU versus FMU or buying a used prefabbed kit versus DIY downpipe for a junkyard turbo off a Subaru. My car(Red) will be a more buy the parts that are ready to bolt on. My friends(Green) will be more of a "Creative" build, by using second hand and/or fabrication to complete his build.

The guy doing DIY is the way to go, but you both will fail due to 1.6.
The higher budget guy will be featured on the biggest loser due to spending so much on the 1.6L |

Waiting for aidan to que in saying 1.6 revs faster....
But 1.8 makes more power :naughty: |
We will see i do lots of autocross and love low end power so with the 2554r turbo and 1.6 sounds lovely.
|
1.6L + anything sounds awful.
|
1.6 revs faster so you get better spool.

I'd rather have slower spool but more torque per psi/displacement. |
