1993 Turbo Miata
Hey Guys,
I have decided to put my 1993 Turbo up for sale. I found a Harley 1200 Sportster that I want to add to the collection and one of the toys has to go in order to make room in the garage. I have found that I enjoy driving my normally aspirated 1992 Miata as much as my turbo car. I have a lot less tendency to want to street race in my N/A car and I just enjoy cruising around and taking in the scenery in it. I guess at 46 years old I'm starting to mellow out a little bit. :nono: Anyway... Like I say I am a middle aged guy who has been fooling around with hot rods for a long time and I have tried to put this car together with a lot of care and thoughtful engineering. It is not perfect, but it has been put together with a lot of love and a lot of help from this forum. It has the following upgrades and modifications: Greddy turbo kit Modified air intake with induction from the cowl area for cooler air intake Mitsubishi recirculated blow off valve Custom aluminum heat shields at the master cylinder and the hood Mazda RX-7 intercooler [With custom modified **** pipes] 1.8 liter injectors Walbro 190 hp fuel pump Olderguy's O2 signal modifier Bipes timing control unit Vortech FPR recalibration kit Gripforce F-1 Stage 3 Clutch [Brand new] Perfection Clutch Flywheel [Brand New] OBX 2 1/4" dual exhaust [Looks and sounds great] NAPA cat converter VooDoo manual boost controller Mechanical boost gauge [Just a cheap one] OEM Front air dam Custom rear air dam Custom leather shift and e-brake boots NRG leather steering wheel [This is a really nice wheel] Rota 15" wheels Dunlop SP Sport FM901 tires Brembo drilled and slotted rotors Painted calipers OEM Mazda pads Koni yellow Sport adjustable shocks [Set on the "R package height setting] Fat Cat Motorsports bumpstops Aluminum Front shock tower brace Custom performance alignment by Trussville Mazda 2* negative camber on all 4 wheels 1/32 toe in on the rear 1/32 toe out on the front 4.75* of caster Valvoline synthetic brake fluid Mobil One synthetic oil [at all oil changes] Mobil One synthetic in the rear end and the transmission Cooling system flush with new coolant and Redline water wetter Installed battery tender [Just open the trunk and plug it in] New OEM Mazda Battery Sony Xplod 50w stereo [Nothing fancy] Door and headrest speaker [Can't remember the brand] I hope I didn't forget anything... Here's a picture of the car: https://www.miataturbo.net/forums/at...7&d=1176488207 This car has been very well maintained and is well sorted out. I set out to build a poor man's Porsche and what I felt like a 1993 MazdaSpeed Miata would have been like. This car has very stock like driveability, but with great perfromance and handling. Sure... It has been driven in a spirited manner from time to time, but it has never been abused. I drive this car back and forth to work at least twice a week more or less depending on the weather. This car is super reliable. The only problem I have had with this car in 2 years of ownership was the cam angle sensor which I replaced. I have also replaced all of the seals when I did the clutch and I have also replaced the valve cover gasket. I have personally gone through about every system on this car and made sure everything has either been upgraded or the proper maintenance has been performed. I would not hesitate to hop in this car and drive across the country. Overall this car is in excellent condition for the year with only a few imperfections. I keep it in the garage under a car cover and it never stays outside. There are a few scratches that have been touched up and there may be a few minor [think the size of a quarter or smaller] dings that the paintless dent guy could not get to. The paint is original and has a beautiful shine. Most people cannot believe that it is the original paint. The dash has a very minor hairline crack on the top of the passenger side. The windshield has a 12" long crack that goes from the driver's side corner up diagonally. The A/C coolant will leak out over time, but I hardly use it anyway and usually just charge it up every now and then with the R-134a [It has been converted over.] The top is in great condition and has been replaced at some point. The rear window is clear. It did separate a little between the top of the window and the zipper, but I hand stitched it back together and then sealed it with gaffer's tape, but you can't see it because it is hidden under the flap above the window. The top is in such good condition overall that replacing it was out of the question. All of the parts have been installed over about the last 18 months so most everything is almost new and probably has less than 3000 miles. I think I still have almost all of the receipts for everything in a folder. Before I installed all of the engine modifications last year I took it by Trussville Mazda and they did the complete "Full Circle" diagnostic service including a compression check and everything on the car checked out. [I have all of the paper work] I wanted to make sure I had a healthy car before I began the turbo build-up. I also took the car to the dyno for a base line and it put down 97rwhp before any modifications were done. The car runs and drives excellent and the last time I took it to the dyno to make sure I had the fueling correct it put down about 180rwhp/180rwtq. Keep in mind that those numbers were put down in September in Alabama and the ambient temp that day was 103 degrees . So on a cooler day we would have easily reached 190 or maybe even 200rwhp. I am running about 10 psi right now. It has been raced in one autocross before I installed the turbo in STS2 class and we took first place. Other than that it has never been raced, however it would make an excellent car for SM2 class. I will take $5900 [Cash in person] for this car and that is firm and it is a great deal on a well sorted out, good looking, great performing car. I probably have at least that much in modifications alone, not including my time or dyno time. [It has been to the dyno at least 4 times for tuning] This car has a clean and clear Alabama title and I am not interested in haggling about the price. I will, as some additional incentive, also throw in the following items: Car cover OEM exhaust in excellent condition All OEM engine parts including header, intake plumbing, etc... 5 - 15" Kumho Ecsta V700 205/50ZR15 4 - 15" Toyo Proxes RA1 225/50ZR15 [I never used these tires, I worked for a Spec Miata race team and these were race team hand-me-downs. These tires were each used once for a track day practice session, so would still be great for autocross or a track day] So if you buy the car bring a truck or SUV to haul all the extra goodies back home. |
The car sold yesterday. It didn't sound like many of you guys were interested anyway. We're all kind of... ahem... shall I say... carefull with our money [cheap] on this forum. :)
