Car Overview
The car was purchased from Motorsport Enterprises Racing (MER) in December of 2007 to go Spec Miata Racing. MER build the car, Todd Opperman did the cage and at the time of my purchase installed a new MAZDASPEED 1.8 crate motor. The car has passed NASA Tech as 1.8 Spec Miata and a TTE car.

I used car in one Spec Miata race. Compete in the Time Trail (TT) E class at NASA TX and used the car for instructing at High Performance Driver's Education (HPDE) events.

As an HPDE instructor I highly recommend this car for someone who is thinking about taking the next step in track events. Since it is a race car you have all the safety needed for a track car; cage, seats, harness, fire protection and electrical shutoff. The Mazda Miata is the best learning tool out there and with this car as your skills grow you can end up in competition with it.

To use for TTE or any other track event you need to register for the event and show up with a tank of gas.

To go Miata Spec Racing you will need a certified harness, new window net and new side net and re-certify the fire bottle.

Car Details
Weight: 2170 lbs without Driver, last NASA Tech.
Cage: NASCAR Door on Drivers side. Good (safe) room between Helmet and roll cage.
Seats: Two Team Tech 7 Point, with cam quick release.
Harnesses: Momo drivers and Ultra Shield passengers.
[b]Fire Protection: SPA system in the car and engine compartment and it sprays foam.
Shut Offs: Fire System pull handles center console and roll cage. Battery and Alternator cut off on roll cage.
Radiator: Koyo Aluminum.
Transponder: AIM.
Gauges: Autocomp, Water Temp, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp.
Nets: Setup for Window and Drivers Right Side.
Suspension: Full Spec Miata from Mazda (MAZDASPEED) (Coil over, shocks, springs, and roll bars).
Wheels: Two Set of Team Dynamics (15x7) wheels.

Extras
1997 Spare Miata: This is another car that has a 1.8 liter engine that runs. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) had issues, so rather than fix the car became a parts car.
Extra Roll Cage Tubing: There is a set of DOM roll cage tubing that is bent up for a passenger's side NASCAR door setup. The current passenger side tube will need to be cut out and the new welded into existing cage.
New Alternator: This is original equipment Alternator, purchased from Mazda (MAZDASPEED).
New Battery: Purchased 12/2013 from NAPA, 100 month warranty.
New Brakes: New EBC Yellow Brake Pads on all four wheels.
New Hoses and Belts: Extra hoses and belts all purchase from Mazda (MAZDASPEED).
I have a tremendous amount of new and old parts, in my garage and attic.

Note: Most of my spare parts are genuine Mazda. For those of you who never raced in a Mazda, Mazda supports their racers by allowing us to purchase genuine Mazda parts from their MAZDASPEED division. at dealer cost. For example an alternator from MAZDASPEED costs less than one from a parts store like NAPA. This is one advantage of racing in a Mazda.

Last picture is the parts car.
