1995 Mazda miata mx5 248 whp whipple supercharger and 15x9 6ULs- $7500

Category: Import
Status: Clean Title

I have a 1995 Mazda miata mx5 for sale, in USA - New York.

Mileage: 157000 miles
VIN: jm1na3535s0610907
Engine Size: 1.8

Asking price is $7500

I love this car. It’s perfect. It’s dialed. The supercharger wail makes grown men cry tears of joy. I’m moving to NYC July 1st, and don’t want to stress, or pay $500/mo. for parking.

Wheels/Tires:

3 months ago I bought a brand new bronze set of 949 racing wheels and Hankook RS3 tires. These are the BEST racing wheels made for a miata. They are a massive 15x9, but weigh under 13 lbs each! The wheels fill every millimeter of the wheel wells with the 225/45/15s and have no rubbing with a slight/professional fender roll and pull, as they were designed specifically for the miata. The RS3 tires are amazing. Check out the rocks sticking in the pic! And I hear they still last close to 10 thousand miles. There’s no way the tires even have one thousand miles on them right now. The sale also includes the
stock 14x6.5 wheels with a set of Hoosier RS305s 225/50/14. Three of the Hoosiers may have another session or two in them, one is flatspotted. The grey TeamDynamics wheels are not included.

Suspension:

-8 way adjustable KYB AGX dampers converted to height adjustable coil overs

-Front 6” x 2.5” 370 lb/in springs

-Rear 7” x 2.5” 275 lb/in plus zero rate tender springs.

-Front 3 way adjustable Racing Beat 15/16” sway bar with poly mounts and mazdaspeed heim joint end links.

-Rear currently has the thinnest stock sway bar ever made (11mm) installed for easily controlled oversteer on tight autocross courses. Mounted with stock rubber bushings and mazdaspeed heim joint end links.

-Car also comes with a 16mm Racing beat 2 way adjustable and matching poly mounts. Swaps out in minutes, and even on the softer setting will dial in crazy oversteer if drifting is your bag. It’s not my bag baby, the car is set up for serious grip.

-Carbon impregnated (NO SQUEAKING!!!) black COMPLETE poly bushings installed throughout. This was a huge shitty job. But made a dramatic difference to the predictability and agility of the chassis.

-Flying miata rear upper heim joint damper mount. Beautiful billet mount that added an inch of rear suspension travel!

-This suspension isn’t just thrown together. It’s been corner weighted on billet digital scales to 50.03%. And tuned to perfect balance. Very slight understeer at high speed, with oversteer ALWAYS just a slight stab of the throttle away. On sweepers it is so easy to ride a perfect four wheel drift, steering with the throttle, it’s heaven…

Engine:

-Stock, original long block-Whipple supercharger and M.O.A.B. (mother of all blowers) supercharger kit installed at 140k miles. The timing belt, water pump, and gaskets were also replaced then.-Racing Beat Stainless Steel Header. With beautiful, thick, cast, stainless flange.-Flying miata complete exhaust system with catalytic converter. I will also include a custom, insulated, cat-delete/test pipe.-FULLY TUNED AEM EMS, don’t underestimate what this means! This is a FULLY programmable ECU with programmable traction and launch control,
that has been street tuned for a year and a half and perfected on the dyno!
-MOAB U3 (air-to-air intercooled) supercharger kit, designed by Corky Bell himself, utilizing a twin screw/positive displacement Whipple supercharger, and custom cast intake manifold! This kit was $5800 uninstalled, and with out the $1800 AEM EMS.
-Vishnu dual feed fuel rail with Sard fittings and Earls lines.-NGK iridium racing plugs.
-550 RC racing, matched fuel injectors.
-Buick Grand National MAP sensor.-Walbro 255 Supra high pressure fuel pump.-SX fuel pressure regulator with fuel pressure gauge.
-Innovative LC-1 wide band Oxygen Sensor with analogue gauge. Running in open loop with the AEM. Awesome AFR control!
-Flying Miata Boost Gauge.
-248 hp / 224 ft lb AT THE WHEELS on the Dynojet at TTP in Little Falls NJ! With 18% drivetrain loss that’s 301 hp. (a stock miata is 95-115whp!

-Car is currently running with a “small” (67mm) pulley that spins the supercharger to 19.7 psi. I will also include the “large” (80mm) pulley and matching belt for 12 psi.
-The SD tune is conservative enough for 19.7 psi on 93 octane in ANY weather. Even with slicks on, the rear can be broken loose at will in second gear! With the positive displacement supercharger and epic tune, this car makes over 200 ft lbs at less than 2500 rpm at the wheels! Find a turbo miata that can match that.
Sorry for all the caps and exclamations, but the engine is really that awesome.
-Rev limiter raised just 200 rpm from stock to 7400 rpm.

-Shift light programmed for 6800.

-All new belts.

-Always run Mobil1 or Redline 5w30

-Current registration and inspection here in NY. Passes SMOG no problem... told you the tune was sweet.

Drivetrain:

-ACT clutch
-Torsen limited slip differential
-Powersteering is awesome.

Brakes:

-new rotors

-EBC Yellow high friction pads

-stainless braided lines

Interior:

-Stock leather seats with head rest speakers, with a little foam-ectomy on the driver’s side for a slightly lower driving position. -Sparco D-shaped suede steering wheel, with Momo spline adapter and 80mm Sparco spacer. I’m 6’0’ tall, and this was the best mod I made (other than the AEM EMS). Tons of leg clearance.
-Uninstalled, but included, are a chrome “style bar” roll bar, and tan soft top. The soft top is a little tired, but doesn’t leak.

-Boost gauge and oxygen sensor gauge in custom cluster ontop of dash.

-Autometer tach with shiftlight

-fuse blown for the stock tach/spedo, but all other gauges working/lighting perfectly.

-A/C blows COLD!

-Suede stereo delete, Pioneer CD player works, easy to
re-install (no cut wires), but removable faceplate has a crack in the display.

Exterior:

-Original red paint. Not perfect.

-S2000 style antennae

looks like a great car, id be interested if i could get rid of mine.

Is that second pic taken at Fernwood apartments?

GIGAPUNK 05-31-2011 11:52 PM

I don't know fernwood? It's taken infront of the hospital housing I live in here in Mineola.

me wants so bad.

89325iturbo 06-01-2011 09:21 AM

But i already have a few cars and a bike, so something would have to give.

stinkycheezmonky 06-01-2011 09:58 AM

I'm not in a position to buy at all, but is the hardtop in the pics included? Didn't see mention of it in your original post. LOVE that powerband too, bet the car is wicked fun to drive. Good luck with the sale!

GIGAPUNK 06-01-2011 12:14 PM

The hard top is included. The powerband is insane. With 200 ft lbs at the wheels before 2500 rpm, you have to launch at only 1500 rpm to keep from lighting up the hoosiers!

jpenoyer 06-02-2011 11:18 PM

DO you know what's required to fix the tach speedo? ie Does the fuse continue to blow if you replace it?

GIGAPUNK 06-03-2011 01:03 AM

I spent an hour on my back under the dash trying to figure out what's up with the stock tack before I gave up. The stock tach on all NA miata's is about 800 rpm off anyway, so just watching the autometer tach doesn't bother me. The fuse does continue to blow if you replace it after about 10 or 15 minutes.

mgeoffriau 06-03-2011 09:41 AM

No under hood shots? Nice car.

Why U Has Hood Risers?

GIGAPUNK 06-03-2011 10:13 AM

6 Attachment(s)
The hood risers droped my intake air temps by about 10 degrees F. Comon that's like 3 hp! It does look a little goofy I'll admit, but it only takes 5 min to put it back to stock. The uninnitiated often inform me that my hood is unlatched.

MazdaMan 06-05-2011 02:51 PM

Where in NY are you? Tried PMing but your mailbox is full.

GIGAPUNK 06-05-2011 05:22 PM

Mail box only holds 8 messages? Cleaned it out now. I'm located in Mineola, NY.

jtothawhat 06-07-2011 12:15 AM

Would you be interested in parting the wheels/tires? GLWS awesome looking car.

18psi 06-07-2011 12:47 AM

dear lord all that torque that low in the powerband must make that thing feel like a healthy v8. perfect daily driver IMO

I was looking at the turbo dyno charts in my Flyin Miata Catalogue. Compared to mine, we both make about 250 whp, but at 2500 rpm the whipple makes about 80 ft/lbs more torque! Crazy. It really does feel like a V8.

I would be willing to part out whatever it takes to get get her sold for a fair price. You can drive her off without the hard top, or maybe on the stock wheels/slicks and without the 6ULs. But there won't be any parting out, or selling parts until after the car is sold.

GIGAPUNK 06-14-2011 03:01 PM

Had a request for some interior shots

holy fuck are you kidding me?

GIGAPUNK 06-16-2011 02:17 PM

I keep getting asked if I will part out the car to any extent. If you just can't come up with the money and are buying the car I'd take a $1000 off without the 6ULs. $800 off if you don't want the hard top. And $200 off if you just want the stock steering wheel. But I will not part out any of these things until the car is sold. All together this could get the car down to $5500.

GIGAPUNK 06-16-2011 02:33 PM

A quick video from a Porsche Club Autocross this year at Tobay Beach. Crank the volume! You've never heard a miata that sounds this good!

They're included, just above/beyond the price of the ebay auction.

Hardtop $850
6UL $950 (just payed over $1300 3 months ago)
sparco wheel/spacer and momo adapter $200 (the momo adapter with spacer was $130+$80. And the steering wheel ($230) Is only a few years old and has been very well maintained with a suede brush that I keep in the center console, also included)

mgeoffriau 06-24-2011 09:41 AM

Might have someone coming today to look at my car. We'll see.

Yeh I get that, but my humble opinion is the car is still needing rollbar, seat and harness to be my track car. And I'm kinda on a budget (who isnt??).
I'm also looking In to cspence's and mazdaspeed2005's cars.
Lots of good turbo miatas for sale right now.

There isn't a single nationally competetive autocross car running a roll bar. And for open track the hard top will make you legal at most tracks. Comparing the torque curve under 3500 rpm will help you make up your mind.

oldgrayfrog 06-24-2011 05:19 PM

I'm in it to win it. Let me know if you want to end this early, otherwise I can't get to NYC till next Friday to pick it up. Hope that works for you and your rotation at the hospital Dr.Dru.:)

Trust me, the torque and sound and what keep me coming back to
Your car. If not for those 2 things (and the AEM) I might have already purchased miataspeed2005's car.

It's not the legality or ability to compete, but the ability to drive well without sliding around on cracked leather seats and the safety at the big track.

oldgrayfrog 06-24-2011 08:29 PM

Well I plan on buying the hardtop, the wheels and tires and I'll need a steering wheel to get home, I won't pay more than the $7500 original asking price. I just feel that's stupid, as you point out the car has issues that I would have to address. The seats, the lack of a radio, and most important after the seats is a rollbar. I get it. You are an auto cross demon. In autocross you don't get going more than like 45 mph. On the long straight at Road Atlanta the naturally aspirated Miatas hit 120mph. In a fast car like this one 160+ is a very real possibility. Next after a good set of seats (I have a set of lotus elise seats in tan that will go in here nicely) a rollbar, an upgrade to the brakes is a must for the big tracks. I'm down to $5500, plus an extra $2000 after the bidding is done for the extras. You want the car? Bid $5600 and it's all yours Trboboost91! Hope the piggy bank has enough left to replace those torn leather seats!lol

GIGAPUNK 06-24-2011 10:34 PM

The sound is intoxicating. I actually tried to mount my FIA approved 2007 Momo Start seat from my 240sx into the miata, but the shoulder wing was hitting the pillar! They were just too wide. I was considering a set of Kirkeys but to get it as low as the stock seat (very important to me), I would have had to cut out the stock seat mounts, and I just didn't want to molest the car like that. Since then I did the foamectomy (took off the leather covers and reshaped the seat foam) and you be surprised how much like a race seat it feels. I can HIGHLY reccomend this mod. It's my GF that is starting a Fellowship at Beth Isrealy in the hospital. I've been working as a consultant, so I'm pretty flexible with pick up. So I'm not in any real hurry. I'd prefer not to end the auction early. But if you think you have an offer I can't refuse give me a call.

201-956-5780

GIGAPUNK 06-24-2011 10:40 PM

The stock steering wheel and a big box of good stuff is include either way. Miata's are spinning over 7000 rpm at only 135 mph. Ask me how I know... One of my next mods was going to be a set of gears out of an '82 626. The car has so much torque the 4.11s seem a little silly. And hey! I once went 63 mph for about 2 seconds at the autocross! Good times.

oldgrayfrog 06-24-2011 11:11 PM

63 mph on an autocross course is quite a display of speed! The 4.11 in my 90, is now a 3.63 from Japan, paired with a Mazdaspeed 6 speed trans, to get some legs.

I'll go $7200. I need the hub, but you can keep the suede wheel. I just really don't have a need for the seven spokes. At this price, I would like the Hardtop and the 6ULs and RS3s.
I'm quite certain you can get more than $200 for the seven spokes and slicks. Please let me know if this is the deal you can not pass up!

GIGAPUNK 06-25-2011 11:44 PM

That's a fair offer, and a week ago I probably would have taken it. But I've had so many people contact me and come out to see the car, that I would feel like I was pulling the rug out from underneath them ending the auction with only 48hrs. left. Good luck bidding, and I promise to send you the first second chance offer should you not win, and the winning bidder fall though.

GIGAPUNK 06-26-2011 12:38 PM

Auction ends just after midnight tonight. It's no reserve, so after the bidding is over it's gone!

mgeoffriau 06-26-2011 09:41 PM

Timing sucks sometimes. I've got a guy coming to buy my car cash in hand tomorrow. I can't bid until that cash is in MY hands though. Oh well.

mgeoffriau 06-27-2011 09:51 AM

$5100. Craziness.

GIGAPUNK 06-27-2011 10:17 AM

When you add up the parts and labor it makes you want to cry. But the market supports what it does. It looks like Oldgreyfrog scooped it up, so at least it went to a real enthusiast!

mgeoffriau 06-27-2011 10:28 AM

Nice. His garage must be pretty nice. Maybe he'll sell me the supercharged M3.

RotorNutFD3S 06-27-2011 10:50 AM

He just recently sold the M3. The stable is ever-changing.

Saved $2k by bidding...nice buy!

GIGAPUNK 06-27-2011 12:18 PM

He's also taking the 6ULs and hardtop which will be an extra $1800. But he still saved $300 bucks by bidding.

oldgrayfrog 06-27-2011 02:09 PM

My final total with hardtop and 6UL/RS3s will be $6901. His original listing price was $7500 and included a suede racing wheel, which is perfect for autocross driving which is what the car was setup for. I prefer a smooth leather Nardi for the 1000 mile trip home, so that should raise some eyebrows at TSA when I go through security.

In the end, it's always about timing. A friend of ours on our local board got a bill from the IRS for $9800. He decided for fun, what kind of cars he could have got on Ebay for $9800 in the previous week. There were 68 Camaros a Porsche 911 and a handful of other enthusiast dream cars. I didn't have ten grand that week, and the only way I will have a bunch of cash is when I sell another car. My wife sets the limit on 4 including her daily driver, and insists that my primary daily be a bulletproof car with a warranty, so that I won't constantly call her stranded on the roadside.

I'll say that I feel very lucky to get the Ubercharged miata for the money I did, but I have noticed something. Go on this forum, and pick the best car you can, the wildest, best build on the forum. Start to save your nickels and dimes, because in two years or less, it will be for sale. Same here, same on every car forum, I have ever been on. I don't know why, but having finally completed the best car he can imagine, these most accomplished builders will always move on to something new, whether its another car, or not. Jot down your favorite today, and see how long it takes.

You're not kidding. I had someone come and look at my car yesterday afternoon. He said he wants it, and said he'd pay my asking price if I held it till tonight for him. Said he'd buy it on the spot if the bank was open on Sunday.

So if the bank was open on Sunday, he could get his cash, which would mean I would have his cash, which would mean I would have been bidding against you last night.

Of course, I only bumped my CL ad up on Friday afternoon -- if I'd done it Wednesday or Thursday, maybe he sees in before the weekend and shows up on Saturday cash in hand....

GIGAPUNK 06-27-2011 02:42 PM

I do love building, not as much as driving... I've been building my LSx swapped 240sx for years now. I think I've become emotionally attached to the Nissan, it's not likely to show up for sale. I origianally bought the miata so that I could improve my tuning skills, and stay active in motorsports, while I built the Nissan. The miata was a dream to learn autocross in. If you do something stupid while autocrossing the miata, even the slightest left foot tap on the brakes reals it in. It just settles instantly. The learning curve on the AEM EMS was tremendously steep! But when I go to dial-in the HP tuners for the 404ci L76, I'm sure it'll go a lot faster.

Here's my 240s build thread
