I have a 1996 Mazda Miata MX5 for sale, in USA - Florida.

Mileage: 153,000 miles
Engine Size: 1.8 turbocharged

Asking price is $4600 OBO

225hp 1996 Mazda Miata – Turbocharged, Volks, Konis, Leather, VERY Quick Car

1996 Mazda Miata, 5spd, Montego Blue, Tan top, Tan Leather interior, PW, PM, Cold A/C, 153k miles, Factory Torsen Limited Slip Diff, Koni Sport adjustable shocks, Volk Racing TE37 15x7 wheels with P205/50R15 Falken Azenis 615 tires. These are real Volks and are some of the lightest wheels you can buy at 9.15lbs each.

The engine has been upgraded with the following:
Bell Engineering Turbo manifold
Bell Engineering Stainless Steel downpipe
Garrett T25 Turbocharger .80 A/R compressor housing, .64 A/R turbine housing, .60 turbine trim
Bell Engineering Turbo heat shield
CXRacing intercooler. 28x5.5x2.5. Front painted black so it’s not visible from the front
Flyin Miata Stage 1 clutch
Mandrel bent intake piping, silicone couplers, T-bolt clamps, Bosch BOV, K&N Filter
Coolant reroute for more efficient engine cooling
2.5” mandrel bent exhaust from Turbo all the way back
Magnaflow muffler is nice and quiet
Toyota Coil On Plug (COP) conversion
Innovate LC1 Wideband O2 with gauge in dash to monitor AFR’s

Engine Management is Megasquirt MS-I V3 with 460cc injectors (cleaned and flow tested to 480cc). With a laptop you can completely program the ECU to do anything you want or you can leave it As-Is and drive it without thinking about it. I haven’t had my laptop in the car in months and the tune is very reliable and safe at 11psi of boost.

I bought this car from the original owner about 1.5 years ago and it has been so much fun. I wanted it to be a fun daily driver and occasional autocross car, but otherwise drive like stock and look as stock as possible. Now with the addition of our 2nd child, I need a daily driver with a back seat. I love Miatas and this is my 4th one. The car was built using all quality components and it is very reliable. It has been turbocharged for over a year with no problems at all. I’m a mechanical engineer and no expense was spared to keep it comfortable, safe, and reliable. I drive it to and from work every day. It drives just like stock with the Flyin Miata clutch ($370 by itself) and sounds nice and quiet, until you floor it. It has an estimated 225hp based on similar cars with this turbo. I tested it at 0-60 in 5.4 seconds using my Gtech meter and that included a shift to 3rd. I’m sure with a better driver you could get it down further. That’s faster than anything you can buy new under $25,000. The Mazdaspeed3 is 5.6 seconds. I only had time to autocross it once, but it was tons of fun and was faster on street tires than all the cars there except a WRX Sti and EVO X.

The outside of the car is in good but not perfect condition. It looks great from a few feet away (as you can see in the pics), but the clear coat is faded on the trunk and rear license fascia. The front bumper cover was sat on at some point and sits slightly sub flush to the hood, but there is no accident damage or anything. There are minor scratches, etc and one small dent on the passenger side front fender near the door, but it’s hardly noticeable. A few small chips in the windshield (not noticeable, not growing). And the driver’s window goes up and down slowly.

Clean Title in hand. Everything works. Oil and filter changed every 3000 miles. Always garaged by me. The AC is completely untouched and works great. The leather interior is in great shape and the top has the glass rear window. New leather cover on steering wheel. The 1.8L 4cyl gets 32mpg on the hwy (better than stock thanks to the Megasquirt) and 25mpg no matter how I drive it. Uses Premium gas. Has brand new OEM Miata specific battery.

If you bought the same basic turbo kit from Bell Engineering or Flyin Miata plus the upgrades I have, it would cost you well over $5000, so it’s like you are getting a great condition 96 Miata with Konis and Volks thrown in for free. My wife and I love the car, and I hate to sell it after all the hard work I put into making it such a great car, but we’re moving up to a Mazda5 with the growing family so it has to go. $4600 OBO and I’m not interested in any trades except for a Mazda5 (plus cash from me).

Car is in Jacksonville, Fl off Racetrack Rd. PM me or E-mail me at claymclendon(at)hotmail.com for more info.

Not alot of interest so far. How about $4600 OBO?

MazdaMan 10-29-2010 02:40 PM

I would buy this today if I lived closer. Checking plane/train ticket pricing.

Racer1ab 10-30-2010 01:38 AM

I would be interested just as soon as I sell this crappy track Mustang of mine.
