1997 Turbo Miata

In a strange turn of events, I have to sell this car.
I bought it back in June to be my daily driver. I got a call, out of the blue, from my cousin and he gave me his car.

The miata is a:
Black 1997 with Leather package, which included the tan top (now black)and tan leather seats, that also had the Popular Equipment Package including the Torsen limited-slip rear differential, rear subframe brace, head-restraint speakers, cruise control, and power antenna. This package also included the Touring Package and Power Steering Package that included power windows, power mirrors, and door map pockets. 127,xxx miles, A/C blows very cold. Minor hail damage on rear deck, could be repaired with paintless dent removal.

Upgrades:

FMII Turbo with Link Computer (Note: the system in the car is the early FMII Kit, not the current kit that FM sells). Currently boost is set to 8psi, but can be easily set for upto 15psi.
FM Strut Brace
FM Race Radiator
FM Dual Turbo Exhaust
SPAL II dual fans
Innovate LC-1 Wide Band Sensor, wired into the Link computer
Data Log Lab software., for tuning the car
Intake Temp Sensor
Oil cooler with filter relocation kit
recent ACT Stage 1 H/D clutch
FM 2.5 Suspension
Stainless Steel Brake lines
Brand new brake pads on all 4 corners, and new front rotors
M2 Harddog rollbar
New Soft Top with new rain rail
A-Pillar Pod with boost gauge
Lo-Pro Headlights (probably brainstorm)
LoCustom Shark II antenna
factory 94-97 miata 7 spoke wheels powder coated black with Hankook RS2's.
Rear spoiler

Spare parts include:
Manual boost controller
Original Engine Computer
Harness to take car back to stock
Stock front turn signals
Stock headlight setup
extra mirror and other miscellaneous parts
A notebook full of receipts from Duane

When I received the car, it had a broken woodruff key and was in need of a timing belt job and some TLC. I replaced the woodruff key, crank pulley, crank boss, timing pulley and did a complete timing belt job with cam seals, front main, valve cover, 160* thermostat and water pump. I replaced the severely messed up lower pivot bolt on the alternator, had the broken bracket on the intercooler re-welded, and replaced 6 or so i/c pipe clamps. I re-ducted the radiator and intercooler with abs plastic panels on the top and bottom. There is a brand new K&N air filter on the intake, as well.

The miata feels very strong and solid. A/C blows cold and the car doesn't overheat in 105* weather.

$6800 obo

So, what is the gift car such that it would justify getting rid of yours?

johnwag 07-24-2009 02:37 PM

It ultimately boils down to my taxes. The money from this car will go toward my tax return, unfortunately.

Nice car! What is the best way to contact you? PM, Email?

johnwag 07-29-2009 05:10 AM

For those of you that have Pm'd me, sorry for the delay. Lots of work/driving recently. I have responded to all pm's and emails.

Is it FM 1.5 or 2.5 suspension? Your sig says 1.5 but your ad says 2.5
Also, is it a FMI kit or an FMII kit? Same deal, sig and ad are different.

Thanks,
Luke

I never really answered this. I got a 2007 audi a4 s-line 2.0T w/6-speed. I do work part time work for my friend, so I get to use his TDI golf more, which is good for keeping mileage off of the leased audi.

Sorry about the confusion. The suspension is 2.5. It has the tokicos and everthing else. I'm still a little uncertain if it's FM1 or FM2. My old FM catalog shows that I have the intercooler setup from an FM1, but I know the car is capable of making more than 8psi which would fall into the FM2 category. I believe it's an FM1.

How are the disposables? (Bushings, tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings, throw out bearing etc)
Ever done a compression test?
What company made the new soft top?
How much life is left on the tires?
Struts in good shape?

Thanks,
Luke

Do you know what turbo they used, and also what injectors are in the car?

hustler 09-01-2009 09:08 AM

I drove this car a couple weeks ago and its a lot of fun, with a pretty good tune, and John made the car reliable. There really isn't anyone I trust to work on my car aside from Johnfag, he's the shit.

taiden 09-01-2009 12:24 PM

John, give me a call and we can talk about price. I believe you still have my number.

Dust 09-02-2009 02:01 AM

Does the car need anythign as it sits to be a weekend driver?

Not at all. I've been daily driving it recently.
