1999 Mazda Miata Turbo($8,000 obo)

10 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
Unfortunately the time has come to let go of my wonderful car due to unfortunate circumstances. The car is a 1999 Miata PEP package with cruise control, A/C, Power Steering, LSD, and a color matched Aero Package which include a front spoiler, side skirts, and mud flaps. The car has 152,803 miles on it but runs great and is extremely quick. I also have the cover for when the top is down. The paint and interior are both in great condition along with everything else. The car has always been taken care of and maintenance records are available upon request. I am asking $8,000 obo

Turbo Facts: TD04HL-15G turbo, oil & water cooled, Custom FMIC, Custom Intercooler Piping, Custom Stainless Steel down-pipe & exhaust, Stainless Steel lines

The Turbo Kit was built and installed by Grand Prix Worx preformance center in Philadelphia, Pa. If you guys have any questions regarding the turbo or even the mechanical well being of the vehicle you can call them and ask for Anton @ 215-677-2345. This is where I brought my car for regular maintenance as well.

P.S. Sorry if the pics are not up to par it was really sunny out when I took them, and I guess I wasnt destined to be a photographer.

If you have any questions at all or want more pics please feel free to contact me at 267-205-7924 my name is Max

Oh I forgot to mention that I have the stock wheels with winter tires on them that will be included as well, and if anyone was wondering those wheels are Konig Helium Ultra Lights(205-50-15 on Falken Ziex Tires)

How much boost do you run? What kind of Fuel Management is on this car?

sickmiata09 06-12-2008 07:49 PM

The car is at 7 psi currently and has larger injectors for sure as for the specifics of the set up I do not know please contact Anton at Grand Prix Worx as stated above.

wow that's funny, those idiots buy stuff from me all the time.....

sickmiata09 06-13-2008 12:29 AM

please elaborate on that Mach 929 and i disagree about the idiots part... they built a sick cl600 that I saw last time i was there and they are really very knowledgeable. I mean Im a satisfied customer... are you sure we are talking about the same place?

Mach929 06-13-2008 05:23 PM

very sure, i won't go into detail, i shouldn't have said anything in the first place, it's just one of those deadbeat shops that order shit for a car from another car knowing full well it isn't meant for that car, insist they can make it work and then they want to send the parts back for credit, you get tired of it after a while

If you cannot elaborate on such a simple question about YOUR car, either:

a) you don't know anything about cars and probably shouldn't be modifying them
b) you're hiding something.

Seriously, how do you "not know" whats done to your car? That kidna of answer is only going to make people walk away.

Fixed ;)

sickmiata09 06-15-2008 07:45 PM

haha you are correct about the not knowing anything about cars i just figure its best not to say anything at all instead of looking like a fool in front of you guys. There is nothing to hide the car speaks for its self. Oh and as for Mach 929 their clients bring very expensive cars there over and over to get more work done so I dont see how deadbeat they can be, but that is your experience with them not mine and I do not want to argue I was just caught off guard with that comment since I think very highly of that shop.

samnavy 06-15-2008 08:37 PM

Sick... if you want to sell the car to somebody on this forum, then highly suggest it be YOU who calls the shop and asks them what's been done to the car, then get back to this thread with the specifics. I've never heard any seller ask a potential buyer to do what you're suggesting. I can practically guarantee you'll get no serious interest without a full parts disclosure and at least a dyno graph showing an A/F plot.

That being said, it's an AEM FIC or some other similar budget piggyback for fuel. For timing I couldn't guess... but I doubt it's the FM timing wheel... maybe nothing for timing.

b1m2x3 06-15-2008 09:18 PM

:)

disturbedfan121 06-15-2008 11:02 PM

another good question would be how many of those miles have been since the car has been turbo?

rotaryjunky 06-15-2008 11:07 PM

The FIC does timing as well. Yeah, tough sell here. Try Autotrader. Then you can basically just make up shit and the 17 year old "buyers" wont know the difference.

b1m2x3 06-16-2008 06:14 PM

went and looked at it today...

And?

b1m2x3 06-16-2008 09:12 PM

solid 1999, wish i could afford it.
Needs new tires 5-10k ago
Gonna need a new clutch, and brake pads in ~10k

Turbo has fueling issues/etc. Looked up above the pedals (didnt have a flashlight though), in the passenger footwell, and behind/under the passenger seat and couldn't find an AEM fic or any fueling/timing stuff. Should call Grand Prix Worx and find out.

No boost/oil press/airfuel gauges, so i couldnt tell what was goin on, but supposedly it makes 7psi.

Dips during idle, to around 200rpm sometimes. Stutters and almost stalls. After boosting, and letting off the gas to shift, it emits a loud pop, probably from over-fueling.

The base car is in good condition, though. Needs a good tune, and an owner who knows about such things to save it from blowing up.

Max, the owner, is a good kid; not a poser-racer-punk or anything; just wish i had more money.

The car has been turbo for about 12,000 miles

Zabac 06-17-2008 12:24 PM

Good luck getting that kind of money for it here, the car is worth $5000 tops. Sorry!
152K and no real management, I don't know anyone willing to jump on that one.
Reduce the price to something near reasonable and you'll get hits, till then, good luck sucker!!!

b1m2x3 06-17-2008 03:49 PM

exactly.

like i said, even my offer was generous

sickmiata09 06-17-2008 05:39 PM

Bump $7,000 obo

rjayd2 07-05-2008 03:35 AM

FWIW i just bought a 2000, with 143,000 miles, for 3,100.
Once they get over 100k, they drop a bit in price. Over 150k, jeeze.

Noone's gonna pay 7k for a car with no management and 150k miles, that almost drowns itself out.
4,500 is proaaabably a more reasonable asking price.

DontPassTheFence 07-05-2008 06:09 AM

Hell yeah, even I would take the car for 4,500 as a fix-er-up.

Poor thing needs proper engine management and instrumentation ;_;

rjayd2 07-14-2008 05:58 PM

I got a few pm's about my post, but i cant respond to pm's yet.
I found mine on craigslist, using the crazedlist tool. Google it, it's great. Super easy to find em cheap.

sickmiata09 07-29-2008 05:40 PM

Hey guys, so apparently I was asking too much for my car; fair enough. I feel as if $5,500 is a fair offer. Anyway, $5,500 takes the car.

b1m2x3 07-29-2008 06:32 PM

:giggle:

Newbsauce 07-30-2008 09:53 AM

I didnt see this on here, but saw it on CL... here's his response and what scared me.
"Hello, the rebuild consisted of new rings and bearings. As for fuel management there are larger injectors because I am running low boost so timing did not need to be adjusted so the injectors take care of the fueling."

Sorry to whore the thread... actually no I'm not.

m2cupcar 07-30-2008 10:02 AM

^ yeah, +1 for valuable information. That would've been worthy including in the original post.

sickmiata09 07-30-2008 09:39 PM

I mean the car doesnt detonate and besides running rich it runs fine. I mean when in boost there are no bogs and it pulls like crazy. Im sure my afr's arent perfect, but not dangerous

sickmiata09 08-05-2008 08:48 PM

Sale pending for more than $5,500 biatches!

airbrush1 08-05-2008 09:33 PM

airbrush1 08-05-2008 10:50 PM

it's 5600 bucks.....

sickmiata09 08-05-2008 11:02 PM

haha very funny actually its not for 5,600 but nice try and as supra441979 its not bs. As for airbrush1 your right, but I was just lettin off a little steam.

b1m2x3 08-05-2008 11:31 PM

you should direct whoever buys it to the mturbo forums if they're not already a member...
so they can put some management on it...
so it doesn't explode...

oilstain 08-06-2008 01:07 PM

Seeing his great response record to PMs and emails, there's about a 0% chance of that happening.

All it would have taken to sell the car here would be a little effort, like calling the shop that did the work and documenting all of the work done. Running the car on a dyno for ONE pull and getting an A/F reading to post.

That's it, done, and as an added bonus, no more shit from people here either.

sickmiata09 08-09-2008 11:03 AM

SOLD thanks for hatin
