The long, detailed description…
My wife and I bought this car for her in October 2010 from a high-end used car dealer outside of Chicago. We are the second owners and the previous owners only put 39,0XX miles on in 6.5 years. The car had been well cared for, looking nearly new from top to bottom (including underneath) when we took ownership of it. Since then, the car has been my wife’s summer car. In the winter, it was always stored in a structure, out of the elements (with a cover on) and religiously winterized including: washed and waxed, full tank of premium with Sta-bil, interior detailed, battery taken out and stored inside in the warm, dryer sheets in the interior, mothballs in the engine compartment, and exhaust tip covered with plastic. Yes, a little overkill, but this is her baby.

The car currently has 57,800 miles on it, but that will go up slightly as she is still driving it. It has been regularly maintained and I’ve always used Mobile1 synthetic oil and either Mobile1 or Wix oil filters. All maintenance is up-to-date with the required 60K service tasks already done including coolant flush and diff oil replaced with Redline synthetic gear oil. The transmission fluid was replaced at 55,047 miles with Redline synthetic MTL fluid and the spark plugs were replaced at the same time in May with NGK Iridium IX. I still have the original plugs that are supposed to be good to 100K, that’ll go with the car. The air filter was replaced this May with a Mazdaspeed filter at 54,778 miles. All the brakes are good with plenty of life left. Four brand new Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport Ultra High Performance Summer tires were put on July 28 at 57,775 miles. The car is completely stock and has never been modified. Mechanically, it has been rock solid and never given us a single issue. We’ve never experienced the Mazdaspeed bog with this car. Comes with wheel lock key. There is a log with every single drop of gas that has gone in her since owning the car.

The exterior of the car is in very good condition. The paint shines like new, always hand washed. The car has never been in an accident, no dents or dings, and there is NO rust anywhere. (We would wait about a month after the last snowfall/salt and several rains before bringing the car out of storage.) The only flaws in the exterior are some scuffs under the front lip that were there when we bought the car. And some small rock chips also there when we bought it and a few more that have happened while we have been enjoying the car. A new bottle of Mazda Velocity Red Mica touch-up paint is included with the car. Notable chips are in pictures. I also have the front license plate bracket that will go with the car. The wheels are in pretty good shape. There is a little bit of curb rash on a 2 or 3 of them, see pics. It’s rather light and not noticeable unless you are right next to them. In interest of full disclosure, the lovely guys at the tire shop have nicked up the insides of the rims when they carelessly took off the wheel weights both times new tires have been mounted. I delivered the wheels off the car last week so they wouldn’t scratch the rims with impact guns, but I didn’t take off the wheel weights. Lesson learned.

The interior is also in great shape. It’s detailed regularly with Prolong Super Protectant and has never been smoked in. The leather seats are in fantastic shape with no rips, cracks, or tears. We clean and condition the leather with Lexol brand products that are pH balanced. All the plastic is in very good condition. I kept the owner’s manual behind the passenger seat and heavy things out of the glovebox to try and stop the typical Miata glovebox sag. It helped, but there is a slight bit of sagging in the left corner, I’ve seen it much worse. There is a tiny pen-tip sized snag in the leather shift boot. The Mazdaspeed floor mats have faded to a different greyish shade, which I’ve seen in many other cars.

The original cloth top (part of the GT package) is in great shape. Absolutely no leaks or holes. There is one very small spot above the driver’s head where a seam fold is fraying just a little bit. It has not been there long and only about a half-inch in length (see pictures). The top was still wet from washing when the photos were taken.

Everything on the car works great. The A/C blows cold.

My wife is particularly attached to this car. It has taken her several months to come around to parting with it. Why are we selling? Not because we have to, but have decided to replace the Mazdaspeed with truck and an older, less perfect Miata to enjoy in the summer. We do not need to sell it and can hold onto the car for any period of time. $13,500 obo, feel free to make a REASONABLE offer. Located near Ann Arbor, MI. We are about 20 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) and would be happy to pick anyone up that wants to fly in and drive away. Please email me with any questions. Thanks for your interest.
