I bought the car about a year ago from an older gentlemen who clearly babied the car. I am the third owner over its 23 years of age. This car has been garaged for nearly all its life, and as a result the body is in truly excellent condition for its age. No rust anywhere. Priorities have shifted and I am now in the process of buying my first home. As a result, some toys have to go.

Anyone on this forum is familiar with this build strategy and the parts involved. I wanted a fast, nimble, reliable street setup that did not draw attention. This car definitely embodies these characteristics.

The car runs and drives brilliantly, and puts a smile on my face every time I get in it. I tuned it myself rather conservatively, so I’m sure there’s plenty of margin left on the table in the hands of a more skilled tuner. There are no oil or coolant leaks. The car runs and shifts very smoothly. I am replacing the original factory top with a black Robbins this coming week. The exterior is in very good condition. The original tan leather seats do not have any tears. Never been tracked.

Location?

hdizzle 08-18-2016 08:34 PM

Oh yeah that's kind of important.

I'm in Western Massachusetts.

Sad to see you sell the car. On a side note, I have not seen anyone route the oil line over the engine like that, generally most people route it behind the engine.

It has been a ton of fun to build and enjoy the finished product, thanks in part to your awesome setup.

As for the oil line, I did initially route it behind the engine, but the fitting where the line meets the turbo would never match up quite right in that orientation. I tried for hours to make it work, and in the end just routing it over the valve cover allowed the fitting to thread perfectly on the turbo.

Let whoever buys your car know that they can reach out to me for any turbo support.

Pretty, and clean! Out of curiosity, what's that black cylindrical thing in front of the clutch master?

Thanks. I believe that's a siren from the previous owner's Alpine alarm system. I disconnected the control unit, but left everything else intact.

Oh my god, I wish this was up when I bought my base NB1...

Going to PM you and shoot up this free bump if nothing else sticks.

I forgot to mention in the original post - every conceivable maintenance item has been replaced in the past 12 months.

A partial list:

-Transmission fluid
-Diff fluid
-Engine oil
-Coolant
-Water pump
-Timing belt
-Cam seals
-Transmission seals
-OEM coolant hoses

ridethecliche 09-29-2016 10:44 AM

Clutch/brake master/slave cylinders?

hdizzle 09-29-2016 10:46 AM

Yes, the clutch slave was replaced, along with new fluid - thank you for reminding me. The brakes work perfectly, no need to replace those components.

Heh, figured you'd done it. Thought I'd check.

Sell you NB. Buy this car already.

calteg 10-01-2016 04:21 PM

Damn. I see really well thought out, well maintained turbo miatas selling for peanuts, then I look at my shitbox NA and the half completed pile of turbo parts that I have $10,000 into and weep.

Seller has my contact info, just waiting for him to reach out. Going to list my car on Craigslist as well to see if I get any bites.
