I bought this car about this time last year and have put ~5K on it. It does burn a oil when driven hard, but no lifter tick. This car is a load of fun to drive and is ready for autocross, track, or DD duty. I am the 4th owner, the original owner was Norman Garrett the Mazda concept engineer on the Miata project in the '80s. He founded the Miata Club of America and this car was the club's test mule. It is featured in many Miata related publications and has it's own chapter in Norman Garretts book "Mazda Miata Performance Handbook" Link to amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Mazda-Performa.../dp/0760304378
I am putting it up for sale for $7300, but will entertain reasonable offers. Like I said I really don't want it to sell, but if the right money is offered I would enjoy parking the MP3 in the garage for a change. The car would come with all of the documentation that I have on it and on a side note the inside of the trunk lid is signed by Norman. PM for contact info or questions (last time I sold something on a forum I post my contact info in the thread and got an amazing number of junk email and a few prank calls ) Thanks for looking,

Tom

Sorry about the poor pics my garage has terrible lighting. And yes the car really is that dirty! I have only put about 300 miles on it since December and the weather has been too crappy to give it a good bath. Let me know if there are any other specific pics you want.

probably because of the blue silicone and the hose clamps and the way they're reflecting the flash.

Who owned it when you drove it? The second owner's name was Steve not sure on last name, and I bought it from Mike Spinty (not sure on spelling). The car has been a lot of fun and I am sure it will continue to be for me if doesn't sell or for its new owner if it does. We have some nice weather coming next week so I will get it cleaned up and snap some good pics.

Second owner would be me - Steve Swiger, Tampa, FL. I sold it to Mike Spinti, who was is a friend of my brothers. Rob (M2CupCar) probably drove it when Norman owned it, as well as while I had it. Somewhere I have some snaps from when my brother picked it up in Atlanta and delivered it to me.
It was my first forced induction car and I loved it... just wasn't able to give it the love that it needed. I'm glad to see it so pretty again.
If you have any specific question, I'll be glad to try to answer them.

Steve

That is awesome that there are so many people on here that know this car! When I bought it from Mike it was in running pretty poorly. The fueling and timing were a disaster and it detonated to bad on the way home from Dallas to Cincinnati that I was affraid to even drive it. In 890 miles I used 10 bottles of octane booster and was still unable to get into boost. Got it home and took care of the detonation problem and the thing runs great. Compression is still excellent and all is well.

I cannot image how many things have been done to this car over the years but when I installed the emanage and the wideband the entire main ECU harness had been spiced into countless times. It took me around 15 hours to clean up all of the electrical in the car. I found wires that went to nothing and wires that went where they shouldn't. It was a real job, but everything is in good working order now.

Looks nice,

So how many Mariner Blues are there on here anyway?

I have one too, I thought the colour was kind of rare

Maybe I can set up a poll:gay:

Drove it when Norm owned- and for the development of the original Sebring supercharger (now Jackson Racing).

I rode in it once when it was in Texas and I fell in love with that supercharger whine. Sounds like you given it some attention. If it isn't sold by the time my tax return comes back i'll PM you. Thanks.

The car is running lean so it cannot be sold until I get this taken care of. On a positive note here are some pics of it clean.
