Default Turbo '93 FS; ~82k miles - $7,000

I purchased this car in the beginning of the year and I'm about ready to free up some garage space to move on to something else. When I bought the car it had an overheating issue that was due to a huge leak at the exhaust manifold gasket. Since replacing it I have only been to the track one time, but the temperature gauge only started creeping on me once during 3 sessions on a 93* day. The temps were happy again after a single cool down lap This car is an absolute JOY to drive on the track, but I really don't get out there enough to justify keeping this. I will be moving to something a little more street friendly in the future.

Clean Title, Ice Cold A/C and Power steering still intact.

Asking $7,000.
Only trade I'm interested in would be a c5 Z06 (w/ cash on my end obviously)

Please direct any questions to Stevenh766 AT yahoo DOT com

MOTOR
LINK ECU (Laptop and hand held programmer for tuning included, see below)
AEM Wideband hooked up to autotune fuel on LINK
Full FMII kit, installed for ~17k miles
440CC injectors
FM Intercooler
Turbo Dual Stainless exhaust w/ FM Catalytic converter
Aluminum 'race' radiator (From FM but they don't sell it anymore)
Fan Mod (they are both on, fans controlled by Link)
Turbo Heat Shield (not installed at the moment)
Cooper S scoop for heat extraction
Turn Signal Intakes

SUSPENSION & TIRES
Shaved Toyo RA-1’s on Team Dynamics Pro Race 2's
FMII Stage 2 Suspension
KYB AGX adjustable shocks
FM Rear shock mounts
FM Strut Tower Brace

DRIVELINE
1995 4.1 Torsen rear diff w/ new seals
Driveshaft, axles, rear hubs/ bearings were replaced with diff, also from 95
1.8 Brakes on front, slotted rotor on rear
It has an upgraded clutch in it, but I need to get in touch w/ previous owner to figure out what it is... ZERO issues with slipping. I think it might be a Clutch Master product.

INTERIOR
Sabelt 4pt harness
Foam-ectomied Driver seat
1 Corbeau Clubman seat with bracket and slider (not installed)
Alpine CD player (all speakers removed besides those in headrests)
All Carpeting/sound deadening removed
Hard Dog Hard Core Single Diagonal Roll Bar
FM Boost gauge on A-pillar
Momo Shift ****
Momo steering wheel

MISC MAINTENANCE
New Valve cover gasket
New NKG Blue Spark Plug Wires
New NKG Spark plugs

MISC. ITEMS INCLUDED W/ SALE
LINK PC Link cable serial - serial
Old Toshiba Laptop for tuning / data logging loaded w/ software
Haynes manual
LINK/FMII Tuning manual
Fog Lights

I can only think of two issues with the car at the moment...
-When reinstalling the downpipe (after replacing exh. mani. gasket) I didn't ziptie the wideband cables down properly and the harness sort of melted together... It still functions perfectly, but if the wideband ever needs to be replaced you will probably need to clip the cable and solder up a new harness
-when installing the cooper scoop I scratched the front area of the hood up a little bit. I just took some very very fine sandpaper to smooth it all out and get rid of the scratches. The paint is perfectly smooth with no visibile scratches, but it doesn't have the shine that the rest of the car does. Barely visible in the photo below.

Outside of this the car has been incredibly reliable and fires up and idles perfectly every single time I get in it. The transmission still shifts perfectly. On the exterior the car is in pretty good shape considering the age... No dings or dents and the paint is in good shape outside of the usual wear & tear / rock chips on the front bumper.

you're not getting interest because your price is $3k too high. mods don't increase the value of a car in most cases. if you want $7k, part it out.

I think $7k is too high. If he wants to drop the price a couple G-bars, I can think of a Dallas buyer who will jump on it.

At 4K I would be a buyer but, at 7K I can build exactly what I want out of a later 1.8 car and have some change left over for a track day or two. Does the car even have a 2nd set of wheels and tires for street use?

For $7K does it come with that cup of Chai Tea and a reach around?

Seriously, it's a beautiful car...good luck on the sale.

Thanks for the input, I was curious about the lack of response and it looks like I'm simply asking too much!

I'm new to Miatas so I'm not too familiar on pricing... I know I paid too much for this car when I bought, but am not too concerned about that at this point. I was under the impression that a used 1.6l in good shape and with reasonable miles will cost ~$3k... Factor in a well sorted turbo setup (including fuel and engine management), decent suspension, roll bar, wheels/tires, radiator etc and you have at least a few more grand on top of that. I know you will NEVER get full price for mods, but I think about 20% of their value is reasonable to ad on to a car's price. I thought the $7k asking price was a decent starting point, but a tad on the high end... I didn't know I was this far off the ball.

To answer a few other q's...
Does the car even have a 2nd set of wheels and tires for street use?
Its a sunshine only car for me. Shaved RA-1's are for street use No other wheels included. I nearly pulled the soft top since I never use it, but opted against it because it would make washing the car too much of a hassle.

Which turbo is in that kit?
Standard T25, non ball bearing. Old school FM downpipe and intercooler design.

Anyhow, I probably won't sell the car at the numbers I'm hearing tossed around. I have way too much fun driving the car around on the weekends and whenever I can get it out to the track. I guess I just need to find a place with a 3 car garage to solve my problem

No chai tea, but I'm sure I can work a mug of the spiced cider from the under hood shots in if you really want to haggle

Stevenh

I do not know you or your situation but CL is full of $4500 1.6 turbo cars in TX and none of those are selling. One of Corky's employees at BEGi just had a 1.6 with a megasquirt and a S3 for 4K and I would have to believe that that car would not have over heated in only 95 degree on the track. Good luck selling or driving your car and I am sure we will cross paths at a track day somewhere in TX.

If you do change your mind my offer still stands and I am a cash buyer until I replace my 96.

If I didn't have Skip barber racing school and a shitload of taxes this year, I would try to buy this car.
