VT: FS: 1993 2.0T Miata (SR20det)
This car is pretty special.
If I list all the things I've done or had done to this car, people would flag it as bogus because it sounds made up. It's a fully functioning frankenstein, that will thrill the crap out of any auto enthusiast.
It is a 1993 Mazda Miata, black w/ a tan soft top w/ glass window. It has a 2.0 Liter Turbo Nissan SR20det engine from a Nissan Sylvia (Japanese market equivalent of the 240sx). But the engine was recently rebuilt with forged internals (pistons, rods, aftermarket cams, GT2871rs turbo, larger injectors, full aftermarket VEMS ecu).. Completely custom work of art header and downpipe, followed by a full 3" stainless exhaust with 3" cat and 3" muffler. The car has Flyin Miata's Afco suspension... Google it, it's the best I could find! This is complemented with a full set of polyurethane suspension bushings. It also has Flyin Miata's Wilwood big brake kit front and rear, with e-brake to assure street legality. It has a custom professionally fabricated weld-in 4 point roll bar, prepared with eventually completing a roll cage in mind. The seats are Sparco's, it has a Momo adapter. The car has the Nissan Sylvia's transmission too, and the differential from an 88 RX7 turbo (capable of a great deal of power). There is an aftermarket JWT clutch kit, complete with lightened flywheel. The infrastructure to support these "new organs" was carefully thought out, and fabricated as a joint effort between a talented machinist friend and a very trusted local custom car fabrication shop called Kale's Customs. The car was dyno'd at ~320whp and similar torque after taking advantage of the bigger turbo, injectors, exhaust, & custom ecu. I have also done extensive work to improve the cooling system. It has a HUGE Springfield Dyno radiator, ducting, and hood vents to promote flow through it. There is also a pretty elaborate heat shield constructed around the turbo to shield the brake fluid, air filter, and power steering fluid from the otherwise inevitable heat the header and turbo generate in a turbo car... --with the goal of it being able to withstand lap after lap as a track car. It handles amazing with 225x50R15 track tires, and will spin relentlessly with any street tire. I use the DOT Toyo Proxes RA1's on the street, (basically barely street legal slicks), ... and those same tires are ideal for track use.
It's sorta silly for me to consider selling this, (having roughly 4x this "invested" in it)... but I have another project I'd like to get started with , several other cars, and something has to give to make it work financially.
If anyone pays this much for this car, they would be getting a heck of a deal. The car is registered, inspected, and insured. I don't drive it as much as it deserves, but it is certainly worthy of street and track use, today. The only thing someone might consider doing (first, though for me it is always last), would be to maybe paint it the color of their choice, dolling it up to their desired appearance. All the time I've had it as a project car, my goals were to make fast (at braking, turning in, around corners, and accelerating), then maybe make it prettier. That said, it's not bad looking, just not a show car. It has scuffs here & there from autocrossing, and/or walking around it with tools since 2007 or so... when I started this project... but NO RUST what-so-ever. I bought it from Florida and it has not seen a winter (or even fall) since I obtained it.
I have left a LOT of details out here, (believe it or not). Please let me know if you're interested, and I'll forward to you a spreadsheet I've kept on the car that will bedazzle your desire for detail.
If you've read this far, and you wish you could buy just the engine, turbo, transmission, ECU, and professionally prepared engine harness... I could also be into that, as the project I aspire to would take handsome advantage of all of the remaining parts, that I happen to cherish.

Just curious, do you have an actual Vermont Title for it now by chance or they still not issue titles for cars 15 years and older? <-- which makes it interesting to title in other states with no title.

You guessed it...
Vermont doesn't issue titles for cars older than 15 years, just as you said. My understanding, (though it is just that, not from experience since I've only ever registered cars in VT), is that other states allow you to register the car, (and then issue you a title), if you provide a bill of sale from the VT owner, along with a signed over registration (all of our registration certificates have a form printed on the back of them to sign the car over to a new owner).
But I'd certainly inquire w/ your state's DMV rather than to take my word for it.

^ My friend had to do it before here in Illiinois a few years ago (It was a painful long process because no one in the DMV knew how to handle it, and didn't like the condition of the Bill of Sale or the registration.. not sure why but he had to go back to the seller for more documentation before finally being allowed to register -- a signed affidavit and other stuff IIRC).
Its so weird to me how Vermont won't issue titles when all other states require it.
So folks, if you are serious enough, make sure all your ducks are in a row with being able to title it in your state without a title (I'm guessing each state handles it differently)

I too have a hard time believing...
The sum of the parts one could easily shuck from this car are worth well more than the asking price. If this car doesn't sell to an elated owner within a month or two, my thought is to take it off the market, and place an order for an exocet shell... I'll probably sell the Nissan stuff to the 240sx crowd, and do a different drivetrain for the exo, but who knows, this would certainly make for a pretty unique-o-cet.
I know it won't convey well here formatting wise, but I'm pasting the contents of a detailed spreadsheet I've kept on this car anyway; to give anyone genuinely interested an idea of where that much money can go if you're not careful.

This car is just an absurd deal. Little polishing around the rough edges to be done as far as aesthetics, but wow. Great work on this build OP. Hope it goes to a good owner.

I had plans for the aesthetics of the car, (I might still act on, who knows). But aesthetics always take a backseat with me over mechanical well being. Since there's no backseat in this car, ... no place for the aesthetics. Someone (completely unrelated to its potential sale) came over the other day and said it was one of the nicest looking Miatas they'd seen. I most certainly disagree, and this person may have only ever seen just a couple of Miatas, but yeah, that's something. I think it looks ok. I regret the presence of the louvers on the hood, as I truly appreciate a good sleeper, (I have 2 others in the quiver at the moment), ... but they were all part of the comprehensive strategy to achieve effective cooling for rigorous use.
Good news: I looked through the 3+ inch thick pile of receipts I have for the car, and I found the VT title! I purchased this car in 2006, so it was < 15 years old when I got it! So no problem if you're out of state.

Maybe this'll help.
--Anyone? It took a lot of time/$/doing to get this thing intact.
Turning it into an Exocet would be a very rewarding end game... but I envision a different drive-train in that car, and the part where I finish dismantling this well sorted Miata and end up throwing away the 3" stainless exhaust trained to weave through the very cleverly devised rear sub-frame which supports the RX7 turbo diff, and the transmission support infrastructure, would just make for a sad day.
If anyone has ever thought about doing this swap, don't.
But if someone already undertook the whole physical/financial burden, and then offers to pass it on for less than quarters on the dolllar... well that could be a different story. Hi.
I tried to edit the original post to update the price, but there's simply no edit button now. I guess it erodes off w/ time?
