Default Diversity is bad, mmkay.

I have a problem with the comparison chart above. When a #Occupy member labels himself as independant, it typically means a marxist nutjob--therefore 70% of the movement represents marxism and such.

When a Tea party member calls himself independant, it could mean he's more conservative than today's republican, possibly even a libertarian, or maybe a fiscal converstative but social liberal.

So complete opposite ends of the left/right spectrum; there needs to be more defining in that term.

^lol, yes well its cool to be a socialist now. They cover that in "The Hipster" definition. And you are right in the sense that "...70% of the movement represents marxism and such." hahahaha

But it's not a stereotype when it's true:

Rank yourself on the following Scale of Liberalism:.
Not liberal at all: 6
Liberal but fairly mainstream (i.e., Barack Obama): 3
Strongly liberal (i.e., Paul Krugman): 12
Fed up with Democrats, believe country needs overhaul (i.e., Ralph Nader): 41
Convinced the U.S. government is no better than, say, Al Qaeda (i.e., Noam Chomsky): 34

Ask the same question to Tea Party Members and it'll look like this:

Rank yourself on the following Scale of Liberalism:.
Not liberal at all: 100

How Conservatives Drove Me Away
…from conservatism, as examined by a liberal-leaning libertarian who believes in tolerance, diversity, and compassion, and is offended way too easily.
my bad, he actually lost me on "diversity."

Ask the Jews and Palestinians in Israel what they think of diversity.

"Diversity" should be a difficulty to be overcome, not an advantage to be sought.

America does a better job than most at accommodating a diverse population then anywhere else, but on that same note we also do a better job at curing cancer. So is Cancer is a strength?

Also, if you have two kids, one is white and the other black. And both have parents in similar income levels and live in the same neighborhood--they are not diverse.

I have no clue. Diversity is one of those bullshit non-descriptive vague words that politicians use.

Diversity in the real sense, is harder to describe than to attain, but I guess its something to strive for. Its hard not to be "diverse" in this day and age. Give it another generation or two and you will see the racial diversity lines blurred much more.

In any case, it all depends on what "diversity" is applied to right? we could be racial diverse, religiously diverse, or nationally diverse? Lets not get into diversity of personality!

haha, no, but I like "liberal-leaning libertarian". what the **** is that?
I love labels even more. why can't people have their own ideas, why have parties? why have party lines? you want to be in the upcoming election? sign up as a ******* person, not a republican or democrat. Let us know what you think about specific issues, questions, policies, taxes, etc. and then people can make educated decisions rather than going by the check box for their party. I am 95% sure if we replaced our election ballots with Democrate and Republican instead of the names of the candidate, the outcome would still be the ****** same.

Politicians<****.

So, is economics the only measure of diversity?

As a child growing up in a small coastal town in southern Florida, we lived in a neighborhood along with most of the other doctors in town. (My father was a general practitioner, specializing in geriatric medicine.) So in terms of the value of the homes and the cars parked in the driveways, not much diversity.

On the other hand, the neighbor kids were quite diverse. On of my friends was Praveen Adhi, an Indian Buddhist. Another was Anzir Moopen, an Indian Muslim. There was Ron Gregush who was born in Yugoslavia, the Serentill boys (recent émigrés from Spain) and David Ballestas, whose parents came over from Columbia.

Was this a diverse crowd, given the number of different languages, religions, cuisines and relative levels of melatonin?
