Seriously, the Birther movement has nothing to do with Obama's creed, beliefs, or opinions, and everything to do with the color of his skin. Why? Name one other president, ever, that has had to deal with anything like the birther movement. Please, I'd love to hear any other examples. I'm completely unaware of any in recent history, but I would be fascinated to hear of something I'm not aware of on this topic.
Thomas Jefferson was harassed constantly of not being a legitimate American because of his ties to France; he spoke French, had a French cook, even lived in France for 5 years. They also harassed him saying he had a slave baby; which has turned out to be possibly true.
- President John Tyler was known as "His Accidency" because in 1841 he became the first president to assume office due to the death of his predecessor.
- Rutherford B. Hayes was dubbed "His Fraudulency" because he assumed office after losing the popular vote in 1876 in a disputed election that he won by one electoral vote.
- Martin Van Buren was accused of not being fit for office because he allegedly wore a woman's corset.
- When Lincoln was elected in 1860, Southerners did not consider him legitimate.
- Some accused JFKennedy's father of buying the election; others said Democratic operatives had stolen votes for Kennedy in Chicago, Illinois, a Democratic stronghold and that Nixon would have won if he contested the vote.
- Lyndon B. Johnson's presidency was said to be illegitimate because people believed he was complicit in the assassination of Kennedy.

I seem to remember Jefferson and especially Hamilton writing scathing letters under pen names (Internet anonimity of the time) prior to the start of our grand experiment. Nothing new.
Socialists and liberals have found they can buy 100 votes and pay for it with the taxes of one citizen who disagrees with them. Just call them mean or racist or selfish for wanting to keep their own money.

This is just what they do, because tragedies are good at exploiting the agenda and repeating the same tired talking points and distracting us from real conversation that goes against their narrow mindset.

There is a strong possibility that Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the older of the two brothers, was a double agent, perhaps recruited by the FBI.
If Tsarnaev was a double agent, he would be just one of thousands of young people coerced by the FBI, as the price for settling a minor legal problem, into a dangerous career as an informant.

Are you familiar with the 1992 film Sneakers, starring Robert Redford and Ben Kingsley?
In this film, Redford plays an ex-hacker still on the run who now operates a private tiger-team, staffed entirely by busted former hackers (and one ex-CIA type). One of his team, codename "mother" is played by Dan Aykroyd and has a propensity for spinning wild conspiracy theories.
Most of the dialogue goes something like this:

Given the FBI's documented history, why would it be so far fetched that the bombing was an entrapment operation completely gone awry, and the ones responsible are now shitting bricks and trying to cover it up?
It doesn't help that the FBI investigators involved fell out of a helicopter:

Many people have speculated that the US Government was somehow involved in a conspiracy to demolish the WTC in order to justify a decade-long series of foreign wars and "finish the job" started by King Bush the First.

Yes, nothing ever goes awry with secret government plans and stings... cough, cough, operation fast and furious, cough.
The easy answer is to always kill the recruit as a potential baddie to cover it up if everything goes to hell.
If you were planning an attack and heard over the loudspeaker that there was going to be a police exercise with extra interdiction personnel and a mock explosive set off, would you think it was a good idea to proceed with your own bomb with all of that extra scrutiny? You would if you thought what you were doing was part of the exercise.
