The Maricopa County detention officer tried to explain Friday why he and a fellow scumbag sheriffs office employee swiped a document from a defense attorneys file in a bizarre scene that was caught on courtroom videotape.

Detention officer Adam Stoddard sputtered nervously through his testimony at a hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court, where he was ordered to give reasons for taking the document. For every reason he gave, however, he retreated just as quickly, contradicting himself throughout the two-hour hearing.


The whole thing surrounded a scene that took place in a Maricopa County courtroom on Oct. 19, all caught on a courthouse security tape.At first, Stoddard testified that the document he yanked from the file — a handwritten letter — contained keywords that led him to believe Lozano was some sort of security risk. Later, however, the detention officer admitted the document had been reviewed by court or sheriffs officials beforehand and was quite literally given a stamp of approval.Stoddard also said he thought the document might have been somehow illegally passed between Lozano and his defense attorney. BROOKSIDE, Alabama - The former Brookside police chief was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on charges ranging from theft to using his official position for personal gain.

Dennis Ray McCoy, 52, is charged with three counts of ethics violations, unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, two counts of theft and unauthorized use of a vehicle, according to court records made public today. A woman, Lisa Aldridge, is a co-defendant in the case and was indicted on charges of ethics violation, promoting prison contraband and third-degree theft.

In June, the New Orleans Police Department received a federal grant that provides overtime pay to officers who help enforce seatbelt laws. Police salaries being what they are, the grant drew the attention of many officers, including one Glenn Gross.

Gross apparently issued the 215 tickets to "phantom motorists" in three months since the grant funds were awarded. Details of how he accomplished that feat haven't been released, but since he works in the department's information technology division -- or did, until he was arrested yesterday -- it sounds as if he could have created them from the relative comfort of his desk. Eventually, one of Gross' supervisors became suspicious and reported him to the Public Integrity Bureau, which conducted an investigation.

Rachel Gardner is suing the NSW police force claiming she was kicked, sat on, handcuffed, pushed against a fence, loaded into a paddy wagon and then dumped at a nearby train station without charge after being caught without a train ticket on March 13, 2011.
Police initially denied the kick occurred but sought to amend their defence in the Sydney District Court on Monday, minutes before the beginning of a five-day trial, after Ms Gardner's legal team revealed they had obtained CCTV footage from Cronulla station.
On Tuesday, Judge Sharron Norton lambasted the force's barrister Matthew Hutchings for presenting an "entirely different" defence document on the morning of the trial but she allowed it and deferred the trial to November.

Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland will be taking a defensive driving course and has accepted a one-day suspension from Mayor Annise Parker, stemming from a traffic incident earlier this month.

Soon after he tweeted news of his punishment, a video of accident was also released to the media via email.

The accident happened about 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 4 at the intersection of Clay and Travis, about a block from police headquarters. McClelland hit a man he didn't see crossing the street as he was driving to police headquarters in a city vehicle.

"I am the boss; I should take a bigger discipline. This is why I am accepting my suspension," the official Houston police Twitter page quoted McClelland as saying.

The family of a man killed in a barrage of gunfire during a SWAT raid at a home southwest of Tucson has settled a lawsuit with four police agencies involved in the operation.

The $3.4 million settlement with the family of Jose Guerena will end a two-year legal battle between his wife, Vanessa, and Pima County.

The settlement includes Marana, Oro Valley and Sahuarita, which had officers on the SWAT team, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Guerena, 26, was shot and killed by SWAT team members on May 5, 2011, when they raided his house.

This area is open to the public & there was no legal way to deny a member of the public the right to use it. This is no different than trying to say that Black people cannot use a public park. Public property cannot be given to any privileged person or group, even for one day. Notice the subterfuge that was used with the term "city owned" as if that is something different than PUBLIC PROPERTY. People have won large settlements from municipalities because they told that they must leave public property. The most common cases have involved homeless people being thrown out of parks or libraries.

To audible gasps, the guard then pulled the 46-year-old father aggressively in the direction of the aisle.

As the guarded escorted Small out of the forum, Small said “Don’t stand for this. You are sitting here like cattle.” Then he asked, “Is this America?”
