**** the police! I get so worked up going through this thread and browsing youtube. The amount of injustice and lack of accountability is just infuriating. I used to have a misplaced respect for law enforcement like a lot of Americans still do. This sense that they somehow deserve respect just because of their badge. Aside from that badge, they are no different than anyone else, (except maybe a little dumber and more mentally unstable, the standards to get in isn't exactly high) so they should be able to treat everyone else with a little goddamn dignity and respect. The majority of them walk around with their chest puffed out and a chip on their shoulder, and you have to show them respect and obey their commands or they will find a way to **** with you. I'm so tired of seeing it.

A Former Collier County deputy accused of molesting a teenage boy in 2010 will not serve jail time for the allegations.
Charles Bullock pled no contest in court Monday morning. He must serve two years of probation and must give up his law enforcement license. If he violates his probation, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
The state acknowledged the alleged victim's family wanted prison time for Bullock in the past. But they say attempts to contact them prior to the plea deal were unsuccessful.

Of course, none of those things are illegal. But when you lose track of the money and the mayor gets caught up in an oxy-dealing sting, that's when the politicians at the state Capitol in Tallahassee take notice.
Now they want this city gone, and the sooner the better.
A state audit of Hampton's books, released last month, reads like a primer on municipal malfeasance. It found 31 instances in which local rules or state or federal laws were violated in ways large and small.
Somewhere along the way, the place became more than just a speed trap. Some say the ticket money corrupted Hampton, making it the dirtiest little town in Florida.

Citizen complaints about Chicago police misconduct and the related investigative files are public records and must be turned over by the city, an Illinois appeals court ruled this week.
A three-judge panel of the state Appellate Court in Chicago rejected the city’s claim that such files are exempt from the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. A spokeswoman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration said Tuesday that the city would appeal the ruling to the Illinois Supreme Court.

The father of an airman shot by an Opelika police officer says his son suffered serious injuries to his stomach and colon and may never fully recover from his injuries.
Billy Davidson said his son, 20-year-old Michael Darrett Davidson of Beckville, Texas, was driving on Interstate 85 on his way to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base near Goldsboro, N.C., when the shooting happened shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday.

Michael Davison was heading north on the interstate in a 2004 GMC Envoy and was attempting to move from the outside lane to the inside lane when he struck an 18-wheeler with the driver's side mirror, according to an accident report.
Billy Davidson said his son exited the vehicle and went to check on the driver of the 18-wheeler.
"He said he didn't get that far," Billy Davidson said. ".When (he was walking) to the truck, he said he heard something but couldn't tell what it was. There was a lot of noise, but (he) could see the reflection of the lights off the truck - the police lights. Then he did what I told him to do. A Lexington police officer admits to his neighbors, he shot and killed their family dog.
The neighbor tells WKYT he plans to take civil action because the officer won't face charges.
"You've killed one of my children. I said that's how I feel. That you've just murdered one of my children," explained Scott County resident Brian Geary.
Angel had been a member of Geary's family for 12 years. He says she roamed outside with their chickens, and he was surprised to hear his neighbor, a Lexington police officer, accuse Angel of trying to kill his.
"As a police officer, he should have been able to use a little bit more common sense and a little bit more tact than what he did," noted Geary.
Officer Jeff Brangers told us off camera he's sorry for what happened. He says she's the fifth dog he's shot at, and if any others go near his coop, he'll shoot them too. Under Kentucky law, if an animal is pursing his livestock, he can shoot.

SANTA FE, NM -- Shocking dash camera footage shows a diabetic woman being dragged out of her car by Santa Fe County sheriff deputies, all while she was having a diabetic episode.
Revena Garcia's blood sugar dropped so low that she became extremely disoriented and could not open her car door. Deputies assumed she was a drunk driver and broke through her window, ripped her limp body from the vehicle, handcuffed her facedown on the hot pavement, where they left her, motionless.
"I was just lost, I was just lost," Garcia said. She said her blood sugar was so low that she could have gone into a coma.
Garcia showed no resistance and there was no reason to be so rough with her, to throw her to the ground, and to leave her there.

A deputy for the Humboldt County’s Sheriff Office in rural Nevada has been accused of confiscating over $60,000 from drivers who were never charged with a crime. These cash seizures are now the subject of two federal lawsuits and are the latest to spotlight a little-known police practice called civil forfeiture.
Civil forfeiture allows law enforcement to seize property (including cash and cars) without having to prove the owners are guilty. Last September, Tan Nguyen was pulled over for driving three miles over the speed limit, according to a suit he filed. Deputy Lee Dove asked to search the car but Nguyen said he declined. Dove claimed he smelled marijuana but couldn’t find any drugs. The deputy then searched the car and found a briefcase containing $50,000 in cash and cashier’s checks, which he promptly seized. According to the Associated Press, Nguyen said he won that cash at a casino.

As the lawsuit puts it, Smith “should have been cited for speeding and let go, if there was probable cause for speeding violations.”
Instead, Smith was “unarrested” and allowed to leave with his car if he signed a waiver to surrender $13,800 in cash he had in the vehicle. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s office also seized a .40 caliber Ruger handgun from Smith, though Smith claimed he did not waive his right to that firearm.

An Update on Jay Dobyns' ATF "Horror Story"
When Special Agent Jay Dobyns put his life on the line to work undercover in the Hell's Angels gang for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, he expected his supervisors would have his back once his job was done. They didn't. Instead, ATF supervisors ignored death threats and tried to frame Dobyns in an effort cover-up their own corruption.
In 2008, after years of death threats towards Dobyns and his family, including a threat to gang rape his wife and daughter on video tape, Dobyns' home was burned to the ground in Tucson, Arizona. His wife and two children were sleeping inside and he was out of town when the incident occured. Luckily, they survived.
Instead of sending out an investigative team to look into the arson, Bill Newell, ATF Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Division at the time, called the incident "minor scorching" and supervisors, with the support of the Department of Justice, proceeded in attempts to frame Dobyns by accusing him of starting the fire. A DOJ Inspector General report concluded that management within the ATF Phoenix office, despite having the necessary resources, did not adequately address threats made against Dobyns and found "absence of any corrective measures proposed to address the failure to conduct timely and thorough investigations into the death threats made against Dobyns."
In addition, a U.S. Office of Special Counsel report concluded, "I note with concern the absence of any corrective measures proposed to address the failure to conduct timely and thorough investigations into the death threats made against Special Agent Dobyns. ATF does not appear to have held anyone accountable in this regard. Fully addressing the problems and failures identified in this care requires more than amending ATF policies and procedures. It requires that threats against ATF agents be taken seriously and pursued aggressively and that ATF officials at all level cooperate to ensure the timely and comprehensive investigation of threats leveled against its own agents."
Now, NRA News' Ginny Simone is out with a new report on the latest details of Dobyns' case and his lawsuit against the government for failing to address serious threats and for the retaliation against him. Closing arguments were made in Tucson in February and a ruling from U.S. Court of Claims Judge Francis Allegra is pending.
During closing statements, Allegra described government attorneys as answering his questions with "less than candor." Further, Allegra described ATF's treatment of Dobyns as "wretched," "purposeful" and "simply spiteful."
"They were corrupt, they were dirty, they were criminals...I never believed that my legacy would be someone that was fighting against my government for justice."
The same supervisors who targeted Dobyns were in charge of Operation Fast and Furious in Arizona. Dobyns retired as a Special Agent in January after 27 years in the Bureau and has been outspoken for a decade about rampant corruption and mismanagement inside ATF and the Department of Justice. He has certainly paid the price for doing so.

Report: Hartford police sergeant the subject of police chase - CBS 3 Springfield - WSHM
A Hartford police sergeant was in the hot seat following a high speed chase that was caught on camera.
A few weeks ago, Sgt. Eric Smith barreled through a red light on a city street, hit speeds of 80 mph on I-91 and knocked down a light pole on Prospect St., according to investigators.
Eyewitness News obtained surveillance video of the chase. Police said they show Smith's Toyota Tacoma truck traveling on dark, snow-covered roads.
According to a police report, Smith was off duty at the time. It started on Whitehead Highway heading into downtown Hartford. A pursuing officer turned on his cruiser lights. That's when the report said Smith blew through the red light and forced that officer to turn on his siren.
The report said "the vehicle still traveling South lose control, fishtail and spin out causing the vehicle to strike a light pole on the West curbline of South Prospect Street and coming to a rest over the sidewalk in a snow bank with the vehicle facing the street."
The surveillance video stopped there. However, it picked up 12 minutes later with the truck not in the picture.
"I'm OK, I just spun out on the ice," Smith said according to the report.
Smith told responding officers that he forgot his cell phone and was hurrying home to get it. He said he blew through the red light because he thought it was green, the report said.
The report said Smith got off with a verbal warning.
Police also said this was not the first time Smith has been in trouble.

Philly cop arrested, suspended for false imprisonment
The 16-minute saga started when Officer Kevin Corcoran, 33, a nine-year veteran of the force, was patrolling in his SUV near 13th and Lombard streets at about 2 a.m. last March 31, according to the District Attorney's Office. A pedestrian, part of a group of people on the sidewalk nearby, yelled to Corcoran that he'd made an illegal turn, prompting the officer to get out of his car and yell at them, according to the D.A.'s Office.
As onlookers began recording the incident on their cell phones, Corcoran allegedly slapped a device out of Roderick King's hands and confronted him, saying: "Don't f***ing touch me." The officer allegedly kept walking toward King, "who was backing up with his hands out in front of him making no contact with the officer," the statement from the D.A.'s Office said.
Corcoran then pushed King, grabbed him by the chest, threw him against the side of the SUV, handcuffed him, hurled him into the back of the car and then sped away with him, the D.A.'s Office said. The whole incident was caught on tape. King was not the person who criticized Corcoran's driving.
Corcoran drove King somewhere off Broad Street, telling him he was under arrest for public intoxication, the D.A.'s Office said. But Corcoran "did not prepare any of the required police paperwork for a public intoxication arrest, had no evidence that the victim was intoxicated, and was in fact driving in the opposite direction of the 17th police district where Corcoran was assigned," the D.A.'s Office said.
King then told Corcoran that he was an Iraq War veteran and had never been arrested before. That prompted Corcoran to stop at 13th and Rodman Streets, uncuff King and release him without charges.
Corcoran turned himself in to Internal Affairs this morning. He is charged with false imprisonment, obstructing administration of law and official oppression. Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey has suspended Kevin Corcoran for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
King, of Lansdale, sued the city over the incident in May, seeking more than $1 million in damages for civil-rights violations.
