I was pondering this yesterday in the gun store. I wondered if the people approving my purchase of a firearm were the same lot who thought it would be a good idea to sell assault rifles to cartel militias, which in return would kill Americans, justifying an increase in regulations against people like me for the next time I buy a 17-round pistol.

I also pondered some interesting gun laws that I don't have to worry about, since I live in Texas. I like how California stipulates that firearms must be locked in an inaccessible are of the car when transporting. I assume this will slow bank robbers and murderers the next time they run from the cops. It takes time to pull the pistol, drop the max, put them both in the box, lock it, close the trunk, start the car, and flee to Arizona so the fugitive can purchase a cartel-destined machine gun.

lol @ taxes so high you can't import food, so your people go without.

I am in no means excusing the ATF in what they did - but nothing I have read spoke of them providing machine guns to the cartels.

It is a little more complicated to buy a "machine gun" than just crossing into Arizona.

Not really, I needed to add a little flair. The only firearm details I've read on F&F are "assualt weapons" and not any record of the actual weapons used.

Edit: Some forums say AK-47, M-16, and Glocks. I didn't know Glock made an "assault weapon". I'd love to see the list.

Break the law right?
What do law abiding citizens do?

so the ONLY thing this law will accomplish is making guns less accessible for those of us who abide by the law

a bank robber (at least one who has a brain) wont keep his firearm in a locked, inaccessible area of the car

though you said this law is for transporting and so i will assume this does not apply to those who have a conceal permit

just imagine if someone was robbing you, gun point, knife point ect. and to be able to effectively defend yourself you had to get your gun out of the locked, inaccessible area of your car first

Here if some one breaks into my house I cant legally do anything else than tell him to leave and call the police. If I do something to the poor robber he ends up being the one who gets the compensations.

You can if you're a political figure or otherwise famous or rich... the people who might actually have to defend themselves since we don't have a bevy of bodyguards, not so much.

Bingo. Anti-gun legislation only impacts those with clean hands. The criminal element doesn't pay attention to anti-gun legislation while committing crimes with aid of weapons. This is one of the key reasons why anti-weapons laws are wrong.
