As they should have been. The jobs they were assigned to were time critical. Tell me one place that wouldn't fire you for taking a day off when you've been specifically told that you would be terminated if you didn't show up.

But, more seriously, any business which is located in a market in which labor (or labor possessing the skill set they require) is scarce, and cannot reasonably continue operations after firing every person who failed to show up on a specific, pre-coordinated day.

Hospital CEO Wins Major Court Victory After Accusing CNN of False Reporting | Law News
Davide Carbone, former CEO of St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, filed a defamation lawsuit against CNN after they aired what he claims were a “series of false and defamatory news reports” regarding the infant mortality rate at the hospital. CNN’s report said the mortality rate was three times the national average. However, Mr. Carbone contends that CNN “intentionally” manipulated statistics to bolster their report. He also claims that CNN purposely ignored information that would look favorable to the hospital in order to sensationalize the story.
...
Wood says that as a result of CNN’s story Carbone lost his job and it became extremely difficult for him to find new employment in the field of hospital administration.
...
On Wednesday, Federal District Judge Orinda Evans ruled that the case could move forward, even ruling that she found that CNN may have acted with “actual malice” with the report — a standard necessary to prove a defamation claim.
“The Court finds these allegations sufficient to establish that CNN was acting recklessly with regard to the accuracy of its report, i.e., with ‘actual malice,” the order reads. CNN had tried to get the case dismissed.

SWEDEN IN CHAOS: Police pushed to breaking point by crime and violence | World | News | Express.co.uk
Since the Second World War Sweden has prided itself on helping migrants who cross their borders despite some moves to the political right in recent years.
But police have now admitted the force has reached breaching point as more than 50 areas in the country have now been placed on a “no-go zone” list.
In February a report from Sweden's National Criminal Investigation Service announced there were 52 areas where officers would not cope with the levels of crime being committed.
Sex assaults, drug dealing and children carrying weapons were just some of the incidents mentioned in the report.

That story is from last year. Trump said there was a "terrorist" attack this past weekend. He then came out and said that he mis-saw something on Fox news. So yes the MSM was correct, and Trump had no clue what he was talking about.

Not referring to a terrorist attack, but a report "last night" on FOX (which is the same as referenced above). Words were in normal Trumpian, not parsed.

Catoosa restaurant fires 12 workers for not showing up on 'Day Without Immigrants' | KTUL
A dozen workers at a Catoosa restaurant are without a job after getting fired for skipping work as a show of support for “A Day Without Immigrants.”
The restaurant workers are all Hispanic and say it was important to them to participate in the national protest.
But they didn’t think it would cost them their jobs.
“They feel like they’ve been unfairly terminated," said a friend, translating for the employees.
...
The six are part of a group of 12 kitchen staff let go.
The owner fired them by text message.
A message to one of the employees reads: "You and your family are fired. I hope you enjoyed your day off, and you can enjoy many more. Love you.”The workers aren't sure what comes next, but they did feel they had to stand up for immigrants living and working in the U.S.
“That was their way to show they are needed in the community," said the friend.
Restaurant owner Bill McNally gave us a written statement, saying he has a "zero tolerance policy for no show/no call incidents and the 12 employees violated that policy."
Despite the shock of being fired, the employees say they aren’t mad and expected a possible reprimand, but they weren’t counting on getting canned.
“They feel like he could’ve done something for them since they’d been working for him," said the friend.
Friday in a Facebook post, the restaurant was shopping for replacement workers.

Milo Yiannopoulos disinvited from CPAC slot amid tape controversy
“I am a gay man, and a child abuse victim,” he wrote. “My own experiences as a victim led me to believe I could say anything I wanted to on this subject, no matter how outrageous. But I understand that my usual blend of British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor might have come across as flippancy, a lack of care for other victims or, worse, ‘advocacy.’”
Still, he insisted that the tapes were “edited deceptively” and that he does not “advocate for illegal behavior.”
“An epidemic of speech suppression has taken over college campuses,” Schlapp told the Hollywood Reporter of Yiannopoulos’ scheduled appearance after it was initially reported. “Milo has exposed their liberal thuggery and we think free speech includes hearing Milo’s important perspective.”
“The Milo Test,” wrote Charlie Sykes, a conservative former radio host who has written critically of the Republican Party since the rise of Trump. “Anti-Semitism, ok. Racism, ok. Alt Right, ok. Advocacy of pedophilia? Is THAT the bridge too far?”
President Donald Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, will be headlining this year’s event, along with top White House aides Steve Bannon and Reince Priebus. But the Milo controversy quickly threatened to taint the event and raised questions about what it would mean if other speakers still attended.

Milo Angrily Denies Defending Sex Abuse | The Daily Caller
But Milo is pushing back against the allegations. He released a statement Sunday night claiming he himself was a victim of sex abuse as a minor.
“The videos do not show what people say they show. I did joke about giving better head as a result of clerical sexual abuse committed against me when I was a teen. If I choose to deal in an edgy way on an internet livestream with a crime I was the victim of that’s my prerogative. It’s no different to gallows humor from AIDS sufferers,” he wrote in his statement posted on Facebook.
Sponsored Links byHe declared that he is absolutely repulsed by child molesters and dismissed the outrage as a coordinated effort by anti-Trump conservatives to him removed from CPAC.
“I do not support pedophilia. Period. It is a vile and disgusting crime, perhaps the very worst,” Yiannopoulos stated. “There are selectively edited videos doing the rounds, as part of a co-ordinated effort to discredit me from establishment Republicans, that suggest I am soft on the subject.”
He added that he has exposed three pedophiles in his reporting: Louise Mensch’s former business partner Luke Bozier, anti-Gamergate activist Nicholas Nyberg and tech reporter Chris Leydon.
The Breitbart writer also penned a lengthy attack on pedophiles and their alleged progressive defenders in 2015.
In his statement, Milo singled out National Review for criticism because prominent writers, such as Jonah Goldberg and Jay Nordlinger, have been very vocal in wanting Yiannopoulos ousted from CPAC.
“National Review, whose journalists are tweeting about this, published an article defending Salon for giving a pedophile a platform,” he said.
Yiannopoulos clarified that he meant young men and not actual “boys” when speaking in the clip.
“I did say that there are relationships between younger men and older men that can help a young gay man escape from a lack of support or understanding at home. That’s perfectly true and every gay man knows it. But I was not talking about anything illegal and I was not referring to pre-pubescent boys,” Milo said. “I shouldn’t have used the word ‘boy’ when I talked about those relationships between older men and younger gay men.”
In another Facebook post, Milo pointed out that the clip in question also shows him affirming the legal age of consent.

Why The Progressive Left Keeps Sticking Up For Pedophiles
by MILO 21 Sep 2015Today, Salon gave a platform to a self-confessed pedophile to explain his urges in sympathetic terms. “I’m a Pedophile, But Not A Monster” reads the headline. It’s a long, self-pitying screed that ends with a call to be “understanding and supportive” of adults who crave sexual intimacy with children.
Forgive me if I’m not first to start the standing ovation. In fact I’m pretty sure most people will find the existence on Salon’s website of this post both shocking and distasteful.
The timing of Nickerson’s post, barely a week after multiple high-profile progressives rallied around progressive activist Sarah Nyberg, couldn’t be more suspect. Over the past two weeks, an alarming number of left-leaning commentators have rallied around the self-confessed transsexual pedophile and progressive activist who defended white nationalism.

Hmmmmm.
Not sure about that one. There's potential, but the look says "Got some heroin for me, baby?"
By comparison, here is Julia Bonk, former German member of parliament, Vice-Spokeswoman of the parliamentary committee on School and Sport and member of the committee on Science and University.
