So this happened yesterday. Thanks for that Republicans.
Senate Republicans Just Voted to Kill Internet Privacy | Vanity Fair
From health-care coverage to environmental protections, Republicans are moving quickly to erase Barack Obama’s presidential legacy. The latest Obama-era policy to be rolled back are guidelines protecting consumer Internet privacy. Last year, the Federal Communications Commission, under the direction of former Democratic chairman Tom Wheeler, mandated that broadband providers get their customers’ permission before selling or giving their data to advertisers and other third parties. On Thursday, the Senate voted along party lines, 50-48, to scrap those privacy rules, making it easier for broadband providers to share browsing history information about their customers.

Lots of the routers out there now that you can load custom firmwares usually have ways to setup VPN in them. I know my Asus router I can set up OpenVPN tunnels which I have used before to send all my data to vpn services outside of the US.

I mean I guess you could do that, just seems like the harder way to do it, and adds in an extra hop to slow down speeds. You would need a raspberry pi or something along those lines to host the VPN connection to your remote vpn. Then you would have to tunnel all your local network traffic through the raspberry pi either over SSH or a vpn connection to it.

So seven years and a day of bitching about it and the republicans can't agree on what to replace it with , or not... The AHCA seems to be that rare piece of legislation that both the left and the right, not to mention the majority of voters, hated for different reasons. It'll be interesting to see how this gets played in the news (both fake and not so fake).

he promised repeal, then paul ryan added replace -- it's a complete shock not everyone is on board!
remember, the house passed a repeal like 80 million times over the last 6 years.
people need to listen to Rand on the subject.

"enrolled"
this is how wealth distribution works...
as a democrat, if i really wanted to stick it to republicans, id end most entitlement programs, since poor red states receives all the money from rich blue CA. And as we learned from the election map in 2016, most the country is a poor red county.

He (Trumps) said repeal and replace it with something better. Insurance for everyone and you'll pay way less and get much much more! Then, Ryan, who was always about repeal only, decided to play his games and try and placate the Orangeman. I'll be glad to find the supporting quotes if you like.
And yes, they did vote to repeal it like 80 million times. Real effective bits of governing that was over 7 years.
So now it looks like tax reform is going to be a problem because the $1T they were giving back to the rich folks isn't happening so now they are missing that money to redistribute under the guise of reform.
Anyhow, we can just continue to debate which side of the aisle if more screwed up or just agree they all are.

This reminds me... Finished my Fed 1040 (it was easy this year), but I still need to do my dreaded part-year NYS/NYC return, and my slightly less-dreaded part-year IL return.
Can't I be a resident of one place for a whole tax year? This hasn't happened since 2012.

Hash tag alternative facts.
I wonder who's getting thrown under the bus for this? Paul Ryan?
45's already been on the record saying that his aides gave him bad information. Pity they didn't keep Romney around...

One thing is clear, the republicans to pass anything meaningful need the dems to work with them because otherwise they can't get their own party to agree on anything and won't have the votes. Not sure Trumpy or his sidekick Bannon fully grasp that.
