I don't see "Hey I know you're married, but do you ever fool around with old guys?" as "charming flirtation or a comliment."

I wouldn't go as far as sexual misconduct, but it's awfully ******* creepy from a guy that should know better.

NOT the video I was referring to - and yes, your reference is way out of line.

Looking at the woman I can't tell you if she's black or not but I certainly do see the resemblance Roseanne was mentioning from certain angles. I don't buy that it was racist so much as just an observation, but she's a dumbass to say it anyway.

how to comedy 2018 edition:

On Tuesday evening, CBS’ Stephen Colbert offered former president Bill Clinton a second chance at redemption after Clinton botched a question from NBC’s Craig Melvin about Monica Lewinsky on NBC’s Today. Melvin asked Clinton, “Looking back on what happened then, through the lens of #MeToo now, do you think differently or feel more responsibility?” Clinton shot back angrily, “No. I felt terrible then, and I came to grips with it.” He then said he had apologized to “everybody in the world” but didn’t owe Lewinsky a special apology. “The apology was public,” Clinton stated. He added, “Nobody believes I got out of that for free. I left the White House $16 million in debt. But you typically have ignored gaping facts in describing facts, and I bet you don’t even know them.” Then Clinton talked about how he was pro-abortion.

On Tuesday night, Colbert decided to get down on his knees and act as a genital holster for Clinton, as Colbert himself might put it.
Colbert began by saying he always enjoyed his conversation with Clinton. He then asked pleadingly, “I noticed you did not enjoy that entire interview. I want you to enjoy this one, but I do want to ask you something. Which is, when I got home last night on the CNN they had a lower-third banner that said something about ‘William Clinton’s tone-deaf response to the question on the Today Show.’ My question is, would you like a do-over on that answer? Do you understand why some people thought that was a tone-deaf response to his question on the #MeToo movement, and how you might reflect on your behavior 20 years ago, and how that reflection may change based on what you’ve learned from the #MeToo movement?”

The question fed Clinton the answer like a trainer feeding a seal a fish.

Clinton responded, “When I saw the interview, I thought that, because they had to distill it, it looked like I was saying I didn’t apologize, and I had no intention to. And I was mad at me – not for the first time… Here is what I want to say: It wasn’t my finest hour.” Clinton went on to say that he “apologized to my family, to Monica Lewinsky and her family and the American people. I mean it then, I mean it now. I have had to live with the consequences every day since. I still believe this #MeToo movement is long overdue, necessary, and should be supported.”

A few minutes into the interview, Colbert finally asked a real question, “If I could, I would think that some of the reason that people saw that interview and thought it was tone-deaf … is that you seemed surprised that that question would come up, that somehow that this had all been adjudicated in the past and there was no reason to talk about it again, when it seems like the spirit of the #MeToo movement is it doesn’t matter how long ago it happened. … It seemed tone-deaf to me because you seemed offended to be asked about this thing when, with all due respect sir, your behavior was the most famous example of a powerful man sexually misbehaving in the workplace of my lifetime.”

Clinton answered, “The question had been asked … in this context. And I didn’t mind at all. But I didn’t like this one because it started with an assertion that I had never apologized.”

And that was that. No follow-ups about Clinton’s other misbehavior. No questions about Juanita Broaddrick’s allegations, or the Clinton team’s attempts to smear Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones. The do-over had been accomplished.

Imagine that Colbert had Trump on that couch. Does anyone think the interview would have gone nearly that smoothly? Of course not. No wonder non-Democrats are tuning out Colbert and his ilk by the droves.

You can read.

Also, it should be noted that this goal is being imposed upon the municipal utilizes, not upon families or individuals. It's up to the utilities to figure out how to make this happen.

This has been happening for years. Back when I lived in Carlsbad, if you lived in a house with a yard, the city would pay you to dig it up and have it replaced with gravel or low-water foliage. Frankly, I don't understand why someone who lives in a desert region would even want a lawn in the first place. Way too much cost and hassle.

It's been about five years since I lived there, but I do recall being surprised by how little water cost. It wasn't meaningfully more than when I'd lived in Ohio previously. As the supply of a commodity decreases, price is supposed to increase until demand falls to meet supply. But, you know, government...

We don't even have a water issue in this part of the country and there are restrictions on watering your lawn and such.

I don't understand how that's "communist."

I guess you could just say why try to conserve water, let's be like South Africa!

BREAKING NEWS - INSPECTOR GENERAL REPORT HARSHLY CRITICAL OF COMEY, LYNCH, AND MCCABE
By Kevin Ryan

A report from DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz finds that James Comey was “insubordinate” for announcing that the FBI would not be filing charges against Hillary Clinton. The report also rebukes Attorney General Loretta Lynch for her handling of the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s personal email server, and for her impromptu tarmac meeting with Bill Clinton. And it criticizes senior FBI officials including Comey and McCabe for taking too long to investigate a laptop with Clinton emails on it.

Sources say a draft of the report, which has yet to be released, explicitly used the word “insubordinate” to describe Comey's behavior. It cites Comey for failing to consult Justice Department officials before announcing on national TV that the FBI would not be filing charges against Clinton or her aides, vindicating Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who said that action was justification to fire Comey.

Comey explicitly stated that he had not consulted with his superiors before making the announcement. “I have not coordinated or reviewed this statement in any way with the Department of Justice or any other part of the government. They do not know what I am about to say,” Comey said before cameras on July 5, 2016.

The draft also calls out Comey for ignoring objections from the Justice Department when he disclosed in a letter to Congress just days before the 2016 presidential election that FBI agents had reopened the Clinton probe. His superiors at the time told him that publicizing the reopening of the investigation would violate longstanding department policy and would ignore federal guidelines prohibiting the disclosure of information related to an ongoing investigation.

Horowitz’s report also rebukes former Attorney General Loretta Lynch for her handling of the federal investigation into Hillary Clinton’s personal email server and her impromptu tarmac meeting with former president Bill Clinton during the DOJ’s investigation of his wife, then-candidate Hillary Clinton. A week later, Comey announced that Hillary would not be charged for using a private server to store classified emails.

The report goes on to criticize senior FBI officials, including Comey and fired FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, for their slow response to the late discovery of a laptop containing evidence that may have related to the Clinton investigation. It took weeks for the FBI to start analyzing the laptop’s contents.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz, an Obama-appointee and Democrat, has generally been seen as a fair arbiter of the DOJ’s internal investigation, although his office lacks the authority to bring charges for crimes uncovered. He may, however, submit his findings to authorities to decide on appropriate charges, as he did with his report on Andrew McCabe's illegal leaks.

Representatives for Comey, Lynch, and McCabe declined to comment on the report.

for joe p:

America’s largest food chain, McDonald’s, plans to have self-order digital kiosks in every store by 2020.

The modernization announcement was made by McDonald’s in an attempt to increase customer satisfaction and remain competitive in the fast-food market.

A McDonald’s spokesperson told BuzzFeed that their locations will “still have cashiers — kiosks provide another option for customers to order and pay. We’re finding with kiosks, customers tend to feel less rushed, take their time, browse the menu, and often order more.”

The rollout will be incremental over the next two years, with a goal of half the McDonald’s locations in America having digital kiosks by 2018 and complete offerings in every store by 2020.The announcement can also be seen as a direct reflection of minimum wage hikes around the country. In places like Seattle and San Fransisco, the minimum wage is $14.00 and above, making the margins on a service franchise untenable.

BuzzFeed reports that the ballooning labor costs are already being felt by McDonald’s bottom line, citing McDonald’s payroll and employee benefits were up to 30.2 percent of sales, a sharp increase from 2017.

The national “Fight For $15” has been embraced by prominent Democrats, such as Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

Two things that make me think we're living in amazing times:

--there are now more job openings than there are people looking for a job.

--both my father and my father-in-law were in the Korean war--a war that has technically never ended. We seem to have the best chance ever to not only end the war, but make the Korean peninsula nuke free.

Well, I do live here. Even during the worst of the last drought I was using well over 2000 gal/day (yes, no typo) due to large yard with extensive landscape. They made websites to help people spy on others water usage and still no one ever said boo to me. They just mailed me water bills that looked more like mortgage payments. In the end, it's all political. There's more than enough water; just depends on how they allocate it. As with all things political though, it never hurts to throw a good bit of fear mongering into the mix to keep the sheep in line.

An interesting read on the topic: https://californiapolicycenter.org/p...ng-california/
