It serves as a reminder to me of why the present-day political discourse is much more complex than many people assume. The post, which I believe reflects the true sentiments of many people in the liberal-democrat realm, presupposes as fact that being a conservative is fully equivalent to being a ****.

It doesn't ask the question, it doesn't draw a parallel, it just accepts that supposition as fact, and then uses it as evidence for why people who support conservative viewpoints are just as irrational as people who believe that the earth is flat.

And, truthfully, I don't think it's intended as satire as hyperbole. This really is what people at the extreme-left believe.


Since WWII, there have always been a tiny minority of Americans who believe that Nazism was a net-positive. We refer to them by terms such as "skinhead" or "neo-****." Personally, I don't see a great deal of similarity between these people and people who oppose the nationalization of private industry, the repeal of significant portions of the Constitution, and the unlimited expansion of socialist policy in the US. If anything, such viewpoints are antithetical to the core tenets of Nazism.

A few off-the-cuff responses:
- I think you’re reading way too much into that.
- Maybe some liberals really think that all conservatives are *****. Maybe like 1%? They are idiots.
- There are also conservatives who think that all liberals and progressives are communists. They are also idiots.
- The earth is objectively round, and ***** are objectively bad.

I used to think that the number was extremely small, and that this tiny minority was simply much louder than average.

I still believe that the extremists are more vocal than those with more moderate views, however I am no longer convinced that they are as small a minority as I once thought. The number of individuals who I see expressing extreme viewpoints seems to be growing, with those at the extreme-left growing much faster as they are fueled by a positive-feedback distortion amplifier.


And as to the second point, yes, I consider that axiomatic. If one exists at the extreme end of any political ideology (or any non-political ideology, for that matter), then one tends to perceive those at the opposite extreme end to be stupid / wrong / idiotic / evil / etc.
