An armed man was shot dead Saturday after trying to storm an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center in Tacoma, Washington.

According to local reports, the unidentified man was armed with a rifle and homemade Molotov cocktails which he had been throwing at the ICE processing center building and nearby vehicles.

Many of your posts would be very much easier to understand if you provided some context for them.

Taking the specific example above, I consider myself to be a reasonably intelligent and well-educated person, however I am entirely unable to contrive of a situation in which Area 51 (presupposing that you mean the government / military base in Nevada) is in any way relevant to Sen. Rand Paul (R, KY) and / or US fiscal relations with China.

To give a sense of perspective, it is as far removed from sensibility as if I were to post these two images in @sixshooter's currently ongoing thread about woes with his alternator, absent any explanation:

Put another way, please stop assuming that the rest of us are under the influence of whatever hallucinogenic drug you are taking*, and provide some frame of reference for statement such as the aforementioned.

* = and even then, this can hardly be assumed to be a reliable correlator of experience, as evidenced by numerous documentaries' insight into the machinations of rock bands such as The Beatles, Fairport Convention, 13th Floor Elevators, etc., specifically regarding the narrative disconnect between band members during the creative process with regard to the interpretation of hallucinations previously thought to have been communal.

I think I saw a news blurb last week that some individuals planned to "bum rush" the military installation in Nevada to gain access to secrets the government was hiding. Not sure if it was this weekend or not but I'm sure it went/would go well for them.

With regard to the non-sequitur post of Mr. Brain, I'm not surprised we are giving aid to China because our system of foreign aid is so bloated and nonsensical. I believe all foreign aid should be stopped. Along with the National Endowment of the Arts and dozens of other illegal programs.

I would pay money to see that.

I'm reminded of one of the "What If" articles from XKCD, in which thereader asked "What if I took a swim in a typical spent nuclear fuel pool? Would I need to dive to actually experience a fatal amount of radiation? How long could I stay safely at the surface?"

After giving his usual remarkably thorough and precise answer, (TL;DR: unless you're quite close to the rods, it's perfectly safe), the author closed with the following:

But just to be sure, I got in touch with a friend of mine who works at a research reactor, and asked him what he thought would happen to you if you tried to swim in their radiation containment pool.

“In our reactor?” He thought about it for a moment. “You’d die pretty quickly, before reaching the water, from gunshot wounds.”

Serious post:

Saw this just a few minutes ago:

This is why I find it difficult to take seriously arguments in favor of an extremist interpretation of the second amendment put forth on the grounds of "Because we need to defend ourselves against the government."

(Waiting for chants of "...but the individual members of the US military would never obey orders to attack the citizenry." Ref: literally all of history.)

I haven't read through this.

This is all you need to know.

If you try to do this, you will be subject to the use of lethal force.

If you are lucky enough not to catch a 30mm depleted uranium round to the brain housing group, you will be decimated by the automated counter measures. If you are super human and make it through that and actually get on the property, "safety in depth" will become your enemy and you will NEVER be able to access what you came to see.

If by some miracle you survive that, you will be captured, you will be tried and you will NEVER spend another day in freedom.

All that is assuming the 20+ mile trek on foot through the 100+ degree heat in the desert doesn't kill you.

This is LITERALLY the dumbest thing I have ever seen or heard about.

This is a POV of what the end of your life will look like........you won't even get to hear the "brrrrrrrrrt"

We've talked about this before in the "...need an RPG..." thread. You can find references throughout US history where the Army did just that... but it's tough to find something more recently than suppressing Indian uprisings way more than 100 years ago. There's certainly nothing "modern" that can be pointed to if you're talking about tanks and attack helo's, which is what most anti-gun people point out in their propaganda that gun-owners "could never stop anyways, so what't he point". The President is currently having trouble simply trying to deploy US troops to the Border in a non-combat role to help with detainee ops and logistics. You can point to a lot of National Guard deployments to handle civil rights protesting in many states. It's not just the deep south either... have a look at the Newark Riots of 1967, or recently, Ferguson, MO.

Most 2A supporters aren't afraid of the US military... not aren't concerned about US Army tanks in their streets or an E-2 Hawkeye tapping their bedroom webcam (not saying we can do that) so I can tell the Apache you're finally both in there and he can put a Hellfire through the right window.

What every citizen should be afraid of is the stuff in the "Hero Warrior Cop Thread..." ****, LAPD has 20 aircraft.

Who is gonna actually come for you though? Ask the Branch Davidians. Ask Cliven Bundy. Ask any of those people that the Clintons had murdered... wasn't the Army.

Why? If you don't act like an idiot you won't have a problem.

I was in handcuffs a few years ago (wrongly I'll add). But instead of freaking and acting like an idiot, I was calm and respectful until they figured out their mistake. I wasn't beaten, shot, or anything else.

Or when I was pulled over in my 135 last year, apparently the speed limit in front of a commercial district was 25, he got me at 55. Calm, respectful, and he wrote it for only 10 over.
