Your Gov't is why you are fat.
The New York State Department of Health created the list of risky recreational activities in response to a state law passed in 2009.
The games are not banned at camps, but they come at a play-at-your-own-risk cost. Camps that want campers to play the games will be required to pay a $200 registration fee and have medical staff on hand. There are roughly 2,300 regulated summer camps in New York that are required to be under permit and be inspected twice a year by the state's Department of Health. Games/activities on the warning list: * Capture the Flag * Crab Soccer * Dodgeball * Flag Tag * Flag Football * Ga Ga * Kickball * Nuk-em * Red Rover * Steal the Bacon * Tag (all varieties) * Wiffle Ball The goal is control. Notice how doing situps and jumping jacks in front of your telescreen are not on the list. |
I only know a few of those... I played them all and I'm fine. Getting hurt as a kid is part of life.

GTFO with your capitalist hate speech. |
Hitler.
The Nazis. There. According to Godwin's law, I have preemptively lost this argument and it is now over. |
lol, fun facts.
|
I used to love RedRover at camp... used to try to hurt people, it was great!
Thats life kids, this ain't bubble boy. |
What if you just change the names of the games? Or add a new rule and change the name.
|
At least there is no fee for allowing kids to pump up on a swing and jump off....
Sheeeet...we used to do that in school and I'm surprised I never broke any bones with some of the distance/air I got. I did learn the fun way that when using a swing, once you pass the parallel-with-the-ground point, that you end up going backwords and going into a freefall until the chains jerk you to a stop while falling nearly head-first toward the Earth....and sometimes the chains proved to be too srong for the rubber seat...which would break...and send you down for a nice meeting with Mother Earth. Oh the days..... |
Here's more. The government's "all fat is bad" message since the 80s meant people ate a lot more starch: result: FATNESS.
Here's a funny documentary explaining some of the technical stuff behind it: http://www.hulu.com/watch/196879/fat-head |

Everybody should go through (something like) Marine Corps boot camp. Cant do 50 push-ups at age 20? TOO GODDAMN BAD FATTY, NOW YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN A HOLE!! AHHH HA HA HA HA HA HA For serious though, people are such pussies. I fucking loved dodgeball, best game ever, and know a bunch of douchebags who are afraid of getting hurt want to warn us about it's soft rubbery danger. |

Medical staff for dodgeball? Flag football? Damn, there goes half of high school gym class. (Yes I know it is regarding summer camps, just making a point) We should make kids in school pass mandatory minimums or they can't graduate.
I'm assuming that (fraudulent) litigation is the ultimate root cause for this. Somebody's little Johnny or Suzy got their ass whooped at sports/games and cried until mommy and daddy sued NY. Our grandparents would call us a bunch of whiny little bitches. |
Looks like they reversed this ruling. The humans caught on.

Oh the days..... People today make me sick with this babying shit with children. Fucking let them be kids, like they have been since the beginnings of humanity. All of this nobody loses bullshit, and protecting them from dangerous activities. that's part of growing up and learning. This generation of children will be so ill prepared for the real world when the time comes to crawl from under the protection of their fathers ball sack. |
that's the point. A nanny state needs dependent children.

It's okay, the gov't is paying out SS more than it's taking in. So you have nothing to worry about come retirement.
The awful thing is there are a large number of voters that think the gov't is awesome and doe a good job, should provide us everything, and hate the wealthy. they think the gov't is awesome because the gov't give them free stuff, so they continue to vote them into power. they think the gov't should provide us everything becuase they've become acustom to getting free stuff, so they continue to ask for more and more. and they hate the wealthy because the wealthy makes a profit off their labor in exchange for a wage. They resent the ability, ambition, drive, innovation, sacrifice and risks the wealthy have and take. So they continue to lobby against them. So since the goal is control (IE power), the gov't is smart and takes more and more from the wealthy, demonizes them and continues the cycle. The problem is without the wealthy, none of this could continue. Atlas needs to shrug. |

Yep. It is impossible for an individual to save his own money and plan for his own future. |

the gov't considers anyone making over 250,000 a year as wealthy. I know a bunch. and I work under all of them.
They also email me at 11pm at night, working non stop. Is your post suggesting that there are very few "truely" wealthy and they hog all the wealth? Would that then make them a minority? and shouldn't minority rights be protected against the majority whom takes advatange of them? How much money do you think your represenatives make off their clout? |

With as much as the government takes, and as expensive as the cost of living and amenities are becoming, it's tough for a lot of people to save any meaningful amount of money. For a lot it's hard enough to even pay the bill to keep the lights on. So yes, for a lot of people it is impossible. I'm not one, just making a point.
The reality is a lack of reasonableness in welfare program implementation. I don't mind paying welfare as "protection money", but when we have priority problems "solved" by welfare and Planned Parenthood, I take objection. However as you know, governments can't ask questions about personal priorities like cable-TV, car payments, and bank statements because that's a violation of privacy, however checking my anus at the airport is not a privacy issue. |

If grocery welfare were secured, hell, that's about $300 per month I could save and after a few months I could have that OS Giken diff. |

Just trying to understand what you consider wealthy. Could they quit their job tomorrow and self sustain for the rest of their lives? Do you feel your employers are victims? |
