Only problem with going shorter/thicker is it won't fit nearly as well so I may as well just do the traditional routing...damn it

Evo8 turbo's are not all that cheap or common around these parts and the fact that it requires a special (non standard) flange is a complete deal breaker for me.

Never heard of vrsexhaust, do they have a website?
Evo8 turbo's are cheap and common. Go on http://www.evolutionm.net/ and hunt for a week. Those guys are constantly upgrading their turbos. $250 shipped is not uncommon at all. I'm buying one for $160 shipped.

www.vrsexhaust.com I'm not sure if you've heard of Kteller, but Honda guys use him for prebent exhaust systems for a while, but then everyone found out he was supplied by Vrsexhaust.com which sells for about $50 less than Kteller.

I'd talk to Pat. From what I remember him saying, he was a bit hot during the winter and he was going to work on a shroud. Honestly, this is very typical with big intercoolers. They just block a ton of air flow. That's why you see those huge grills on stock turbo'd cars that actually have a FMIC worth a damn. I'm a firm believer in keeping the engine's temp right and having oil.

As for E85, you'll be fine with a Walbro pump. It may need to be replaced every 3-4 years, but nothing big. They aren't really designed for E85, but E85 is a pretty mild fuel considering it's basically alcohol. It really doesn't beat up fuel parts very badly at all. I would look into the limitations of the stock fuel lines. I'm not that familiar with the limitations on the Miata, but remember, if you make 350whp on E85, that's like 450 on gasoline. Can the stock lines handle the flow required? If they can, E85 is the way to go. If they can't, I suggest running daily on 93 octane on a lower boost level/less aggressive tune, and just run 100 octane at the track. You'll save money that way.

As for the manifolds. There are lots of gains to have with a longer runner exhaust manifold. Anything short and made out of pipe is worthless IMO unless you're able to get it cheaper than a cast manifold. Any intake manifold you add will just help in the top end.

That is actually VERY helpful and thank you very much for posting it.

So from what I understand the ebay so called "3076" I'm looking at is along the lines of a "real" 2876, has a larger inducer (making it laggier) and smaller exducer (making it more efficient at "low pressure" so to speak), the "trim" is big so it will be laggier than the real version and have boost onset be much more abrupt. So it will probably lag like a bitch, spool by about 4800, then come on STRONG at 5k and build power all the way to redline. I'm guessing torque will start to taper off just a tad bit by 7k (since I'm not revving my **** as high as Jay did his).

amirite?
or did I mix something up?

Get the turbo in the mail and measure the wheels. I'd be surprised if their measurements are accurate.

It looks like the Chinese turbo will spool a little slower than the 2876 because of both dimensions of the compressor pushing it that way but would probably make more power when it does spool because of the larger minor diameter (inducer) and will likely also be efficient to a higher pressure ratio (boost psi) if all other variables were the same. The Chinacharger will also likely spool much better than the 3076 because of the smaller turbine.

I don't see that being a problem at all with that one.

Yeah I think it will be suitable for me.
Going to start ordering this stuff in about a week or two (as soon as I pass smog and am ready to start putting everything back on).

I'll definitely be posting results. Keeping my fingers crossed

IIRC an SC61 uses virtually the same compressor wheel that a 35R does. The power potential is very simiar. So basically on a T3 foot print you can approach about 650HP if the planets align correctly.

So is my goal of 320-330whp on this setup + e85 and 15-17psi unrealistic?

So the "log" plans are out. I'm going with teh good ****
