02 sensor bung placement

Ok, I have an LC1 and I wired it so the plastic "box" sits behind the radio and the cables to the sensor go through the shifter boot down to the downpipe.
I have a Begi dowpipe and the bung is further up closer to the turbo. The o2 cable wont reach. Can I extend the cables? Would it mess up the signal?
Or can I weld another bung closer by? Would this read different values since the exhasut gases are cooler?

Thanks

I believe the LC1 instructions recommend a placement further from the turbo that you are describing. Perhaps Saml01 can help you out:)

3ft, right before the cat.

I don't know specifically about the LC-1, but the AEM calls for it to be 36" away from a turbo.

Your sensor should be atleast 36" from the turbine outlet. Your BEGI downpipe should have two bungs, one for the stock sensor and one for the WB.
You don't want to mess with extending the cable. The exhaust gas temp won't matter, the sensor needs to be before the cat and atleast 3' from the turbo or it will overheat and degrade the sensor.

lol. Thats hitting below the belt.

Im surprised the cable from the LC1 doesnt reach to the pre cat bung with the controller sitting on that little shelf below the brake fluid reservoir. It should easily, I think. I eyeballed it the other night and it seems to be doable. The only other way I see people making it reach is mounting the box below on the powerplant frame.

Truth be told, ill probably measure how far down the o2 reaches with the controller sitting on that shelf, and then have begi put the bung in for me according to that. It will def be further then 36 inches, but it will be closer then right before the cat.

You could always just run the wire to the sensor through the tunnel at the shift boot.

+1 I ziptied the controller to the speedometer cable. The O2 sensor plugs into the bung facing straight up. The cable comes from the O2 sensor goes up and over the tranny then back down to plug into the controller. I ran the wires through the shift boot.

PS: Little girls with small hands will makes getting the wires up through the shift boot MUCH easier.
