Help me please choose right parts!
Hi everybody!
I have a 92 mazda miata 1.6 and I want to install turbo on it. This is my first tuning project, and that’s why it is a bit difficult for me to find right parts! I have been different forums for more than a month, but I need help anyways!
About my project: I want to build my miata for daily driving. This is a city car, and the most important thing for me is low and middle RPM. My power goal is not more than 200hp; actually power is not so important for me, quick response is more important!
I already have: T3/T4 BEGI External 38mm vband waste gate manifold; cam gears; Mega Squirt PNP; SPEC clutch stage 1.
What can you recommend me to choose from this list for the best solution?
#1 turbo
1) Godspeed T3T4 48 Trim Turbo Charger 350HP Quick Spool | eBay
2) GSP GT30 T3 Turbo Charger AR48 AR50 Big Wheel Neon SRT4 SRT 4 RSX NSX GTI Gli | eBay
3) Godspeed T3T4 Turbo Charger 50AR Polished Housing Quick Spool Free SHIP | eBay
Do you know from what rpm it starts spooling and hitting boost?
What pressure is the best and safe for stock engine? Please let me know if you knew better turbo!
#2 cam shaft (do I need to change it)? If yes what is the best for me?
1) OBX Stage 1 Cams Camshafts 264 256 Miata B6 NA6CE Cam Shaft | eBay
2) OBX Camshaft Stage 2 Mazda Miata MX 5 1 6L NA6C | eBay
#3 Head gasket: I want a ported head, so I need one. I think to install cometic. My question what size is the best for me?
#4 Exhausts, I have already 2.25’ Stanley steel. I think about changing on 3’ or 2.5’. What size is the best?
I am waiting for your response.

1) T3/T4 is going to be slower spooling than a T2 frame turbo. The 2860 is a popular size and spools pretty fast.
2) No
3) Cometic blows, use an OEM head gasket
4) A 3' diameter exhaust won't fit, a 3' long one might, but that will be crazy loud. A 3" diameter exhaust is your best bet.

someone ban him for not following the rules. stop being a jerk op.
j/k. I don't think he's on the wrong path and he has an ok starter list of ish he wants. the china charger question has a pile of dead horses laying on top of it with a bunch of noobs beating on them.
2) no
3) MLS is the best imo
4) 2.25 is probably fine for ~200. it would be one of the things i'd change later and be low on my priority if i already had an aftermarket exhaust.
If your power goal is ~200 just get an sr20 t25 turbo or something they are cheap plentiful, quick spool, and in your price range. can probably find a gt2554 too used. a lot of people like to go bigger after they are tired of it or get bit by the power bug.

So power isn't important to you (less than 200), what is important is reliability and quick response. So you go buy a t3/t4 turbo manifold with external v-band wastegate, cam gears (why?), Megasquirt (at least you got something right), and a "spec 1" clutch... Plus you want to port your heard and put a cometic head gasket in to reach your less than 200hp power goals... Here's what you should have done:
Begi T2 log manifold & downpipe
Garrett 2560 turbo with internal wastegate
Megasquirt
ACT clutch
Intercooler & pipes
400cc injectors
wideband o2 sensor kit
Profit.

Does anybody know anything about this turbo? When does it start spooling? And which one is better?
OBX camshaft: is it a bad quality product or this thing just doesn’t make any difference?
What size (thickness) of a head gasket do I need?

OBX Camshafts aren't worth it. You will get little to nothing out of a camshaft at your power goals, ignoring OBX camshaft's poor quality reputation.
Look up zilvia.net's FS section, find a SR20 T25, it'll do everything you want - and it's a genuine garrett for 50-150. Rebuild kits are $75ish and covered in depth in here how to rebuild one if you need to. For the cost of OBX camshafts, you can get a rebuilt good condition genuine garrett T25 - so it's not a money concern.
Thickness of head gasket, why are you even dicking around with a 1.6 head? You can likely pick up a good 1.8 for the money you'll spend dicking around with a 1.6 head, and you'll get a lot more out of even a stock 1.8 than a mildly modded 1.6.

I bought t3/t4 turbo manifold with external v-band wastegate because I found on the FM forum that this is a good choice (+I bought it new for a cheap price), I decided to install cam gears some time in the future, just in case. So you recommend me not to touch the head, right? I bought my Mazda with a dead clutch. Spec clutch is better than ebay clutch and not so expensive.

Thanks for your responses! Guys don't be mad at me, yes I read some really stupid forums, and then I read FM forums. It is easy to say read more and you will find your answers, but it is really difficult to find something about turbo like this. I don’t have money on a garret turbo. And I have a good experience with Godspeed turbo. I also have a 1996 eclipse GSX 400hp (when I bought, it was already built); I have been driving it for 2 years with china turbo and never had any problems.
Does anybody know anything about this turbo? When does it start spooling? And which one is better?

You clearly haven't read, because there are many many people on this forum that have done exactly what you want to do (~200whp and quick spool). It's not difficult at all, there is an entire section labeled 'build threads', don't come back until you have read through some of those (especially any one who is running a T25 from an SR20).
Any way thanks for the advice!)

This is the only T3 sized chinacharger I'd put on a 1.6L block.
Universal T3 Internal WG VW Polo Passat GTI Quattro Beetle Turbo Charger | eBay
this is the same turbo I run, but I only paid $175 shipped for it. It is very important that you don't oversize a turbo.

I don't get it, OP. You ask us what parts you should buy. We tell you that you should by a T2 manifold and turbo.
You can't sell your manifold? So instead of getting a simple T2 setup, now you will have a more expensive and complicated EWG T3 setup. If you wanted to make 500HP, that would be PERFECT. I mean a 38mm V-Banded EWG is probably going to cost you as much as your churbo. TiAL MVS 38mm Wastegate - Full-Race.com
My advice is to sell whatever you have and keep reading.
