Honestly I dont know a lot about the intricate bits on this car.

Im just building the nicest gear I can with the knowledge I have and then when its time to do final assembly and get everything working properly Ill be on the phone to lokiel a LOT to get the intricate details sorted.

As for the people comparing me to fae, thats cute, was he going for 600hp not 300

Ill have pics of the new front end setup in the next day or 2.

Keep going Dan, screw the pessimistic asshats. I agree with you.

No one is being forthcoming with info from Aussie yet they take time to put you down.

Same happens here, lots of info around but none or very little of it is verified and even less so being backed up by actual track use.

There are two guys here who are very helpfull to our community (thank you Paul and Keith!!) but of the amount who race them and modify them still not a lot.....perhaps the information is of commercial value to them... or maybe the experienced guys are just computer luddites.....

Anyway, keep up the good work.

I dont know why asking questions offends so many in Australia.

I'm not Australian, I'm from the land of Burt Munro, Britten and Rod Millen. You can have Russel Crow.

Its like our culture forces people to either act like they are too good to post photos on the net and ask questions, or if they do they will be looked down upon for it.
Culture is culture, I like Australians and the way they are, most are very humble. If you use your ears instead of your mouth. It's amazing what they will share. One of the bloke I worked with for over 18 months started talking about speed way racing. it turns out he was the bloody Australian champ for a couple of years running. Race in euro for a full works team. Some people just don't like to talk them self up.
Here on the MT forums, dozens of people have built stuff better than anything ever built in Australia, and amazingly so, when they do it and post a build thread they get advice, discussion, hopefully they learn something, and people usually dont tell them they are an autistic arsehole for doing so.
You have to remember, here in AU most mx5 are used for production racing, as there is not a lot of other classes for them to run in. So I.M.O. that's why, maybe there is not as many FI mx5s on the road/track. Maybe as a few of the 2F cars get removed from the track for production racing, there might be more FI mx5s around on the track. Plus you have to also remember, run FI on track can take a lot of money, and hard work.
I didn't call you autistic, I said you can post like your socially autistic. Doesn't mean I don't like you. But which in turn can and does rub people the wrong way. Which means they might not want to help you. Plus it's pretty easy to winded you up on line. Lots of people just do it for s#its and giggles.

I was going to type more but **** it, if you don't get it by now you never will. Either try to help out or go build your 311rwhp GT2560 1.6L- by 'just welding the wastegate', and your twincharged car, which apparently is so easy to engineer it that "it's no big deal."
Depends what you call a big deal, a bloke in logan has built a rocket car to have a crack at the land speed record. I call that pretty cool. A mate and I trying to build a twin charged set up is not quite in the same ball park, in my humble opinion. BTW I wouldn't waste my time chasing hp with a 1.6. Or building a twin charge set up.
But please spare 5 minutes to type about it on a forum so people like me can learn from your knowledge, and that's how I feel about the 'elite' mx5 builders in Oz who you never see or hear from unless you are their neighbour.
Dann because of what I do for a living there is a fair amount of what I do, is online but on other peoples cars. I just don't like to sing and dance about it. My car/race team was asked to for a artical in a uk car mag. I didn't take up the offer as I felt no need, as there are people much better than I building and racing cars, It's just the way I am.
BTW nemo lives just up the road. Not next door but pretty close
But apparently there are dozens making 400whp, and lap faster than anything with no mechanical issues and get the power down on old hard tyres because the owner has swag.
IT'S SWAGGER. Not only can this bloke build his own car by hand. Turbo, ROPs..... He can drive like a boss. He don't post online. Guess he's a freak! He just does has own thing. Showed me lot and helped me out so much, with what he's learnt a long the way.

Good luck with the build though.

All the best Topper!

You can understand why I'm disappointed these people are too good to post any knowledge then.

They're not "too good" some people just have better things to do than post on forums all day. Too bad I couldn't post this during the week for maximum irony. And some of them, mostly the prod racers in this country keep their **** to themselves because they put a lot of their own development time and money into making something to give themselves a competitive advantage, or because they're cheating in a very effective way.

I dont think you're an *** hole. just that you're not quite handling this in the best way. take a chill pill, and remember, one day, you might actually meet these people in real life.

Your comment counts for nought.

You are from Auckland, that doesn't even make you a New Zealander JAFA....

Sheep ******* "Quote"
1 - A human being having sex with a sheep.
2 - A lame insult by Orrszstrraayaa'ans towards Kiwi's or the IEnglissh to the Welsh
Being from one of the nations that are continually referred to as "Sheep ********" (New Zealand), i am happy to recieve that insult. It's usually from Australians (sorry, thats said 'Osztraaya'nsz')who as we all know are low-born (inbred), illiterate(thick as two planks) and have a native species of marsupial(koalas) which are ridden with syphilis (where did they get that then?). When a Kiwi and an Ozzsszsee first meet, it is always the Ozzsszszseeei who will insult first and inevitably the 'sheep *******' gets thrown up quickly.
Well i'd love to say to all Oszszstraaayaa'aansz this small thing .......
YES WE DO **** SHEEP!!!!
Then we kill them
Then we package them
Then we send them over to your country for you sister-molesters to have on your dinner table.
"Unquote"

Enough said back to the build

Haha

I am trying to get prepared for my first race in about 3 weeks. Car is mostly done, just need a competition licence.....which may not happen in time....

Anyway, this is why I am intersted in this thread. Yes the yanks have a lot of experience but there are some odd differences down this way.

Tyres seem to perform different, standing starts (gearbox ratios, clutch etc different requirements) tracks tend to be considerably tighter, bumpier and so on.....

So ANYTHING that might help to add to the "local" knowledge is great.

Dan, I think you need to remember that you are from an age group where forums, computers etc are natural instinct, the generations before you (i.e the people with the knowledge) are generally not.

So not only is the pool diminshed with being a gay miata / mx5 driver most of the others here need be (semi or) full computer nerd as well....then from that bizarre category you need to add "manly" enough to be working on, modifying and racing these homo little cars....

if you see what i mean...
