1.8 injector max boost?

Well as per usual the search has given me nothing. Amazing as you would think "injectors" would give pages of results.

Anyway, car is a 1.6 92. It is on M/S already and will be getting a DSM t25 in the (hopefully) near future, it's in the garage waiting to go on. I have looked over the turbo faq and haven't found the answer I need. according to that (the faq) 1.8 injectors should be good up to 9 psi with an afpr. But if I am on M/S and therefore controlling the pulse width as opposed to the pressure, how far will they go? Reason I ask of course is I can pick up a set for peanuts, whereas rc's or rx7 injectors are harder to find, and cost real money.

Fail. Look right above your post to the "DIY FAQ" sticky.

I'll get straight to the point: they won't support more than 8-10psi if we're talking pump gas.

Yeah right back atcha curly, as I said in my post I have read the FAQ, I needed a bit of clarification on what it says.

Thanks 18psi, so I presume that be it by fuel pressure or opening time they just can't cut it. I'll find some bigger ones then.

18psi 10-25-2009 07:26 PM

Exactly. They're maxed out either way. Get the supra 305's if you're on a super low budget, they're about the same price but bigger.

But I seriously wouldn't dick around with the puny injectors if I was you man. You can get 460's/550's for 60 bux, another 80 to clean/test them and you've got good injectors with headroom.

Wow I didn't realise they were going for so cheap. Everything I have seen on this side of the pond has been a fair bit more than that. I'll just have to keep my eyes open and get a set from the homeland then

Anyone happen to know what size the MSM runs? I've got NB 1.8's that I'll use at wastegate pressure and upgrade when I start turning the boost up, curious what (if any) differences there are between the OEM Turbo injectors and the N/A injectors.

18psi 10-25-2009 08:02 PM

I think the msm runs the 265's. Not 100% sure but its something small like that. Definitely not a worthwhile upgrade over the regular 1.8 injectors

At least on my area is super difficult to spot an RX-7 that has not been stripped to bare metal so I go to RX7Club.com in the for sale wanted section.

I got mine for 100.00 and that was before the economy crashed 2 years ago and still 2009 they are still sold for the same amount. Stick with good trade score as there has been many and I mean many on the RX7 forums who have gotten burned with dead bit sellers.

Did the typical, injector-rehab.com and came back as good as new, two were almost shut.

There are 460's/550's being sold on here quite frequently. I think there's a set for sale right now too. In the classifieds
